Let's all remember that the only reason measures like these planters are needed is because your average law abiding driver actually isn't law abiding and ignores obvious road signage.
What kept Dan alive was luck... He was lucky that the exchange of kinetic energy favoured his survival, on a different day he might have died, quite simple really. Want to stop people dying on our roads... 🤔 Address the danger at source 👍Don't rely on plastic head trinkets 👍
It’s odd to get lectured by people telling me that bike helmets aren’t important when the emergency services at the scene yesterday told me I probably wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t wearing one.
Funny old world! I hope you’re having a good Tuesday.

Right that's me done... Today I ride away from being a police officer for the last time, it's been a great experience, some of which I have enjoyed immensely, some of which has taken a lot from me, but the good times outweigh the bad.

This post caused a fuss with some fine examples of incompetence appearing on the thread, one even purporting to be a driving instructor! Well let's professionally dicect this & point out why the driver involved & those "wronguns" on the thread are a real problem for society.

latest bit of idiocy..It would be logistically impossible to do and cost the country billions.
We have a driver/vehicle scheme that doesn't work, 1 million + unisured/unlicensed drivers on the road every day, we can't police that, red meat for idiots
Right then, I've held off commenting on this to give myself a decent amount of time to think about what I would have spent the budget on instead of this 👇, & why if
@TfL
want more harmony on their roads they need to come away from asking drivers to "think" and be afraid instead

I was taught to drive by a retired police office and every time we saw a cyclist during my driving lesson he’d say ‘there’s a cyclist, what are they’ and I’d have to say ‘my responsibility’ and 20 + years later I still think this every single time I see a cyclist on the road. 🚲
I propose a new tax on drivers who are responsible for collisions & the resulting delays.... The average cost of a non injury collision is £80,000 so if we call it £100,000 an incident to properly compensate the emergency services & taxpayers that seems fair does it not?....

It winds people up because they have normalised other risk such as driving whilst not in proper control or without due care but this ironically "looks" dangerous to them. The lad is concentrating, in control & will do this hundreds of times a day without causing inconvenience or
A lot of hostility towards the lad doing the wheelie in this footage. Consider this —
1. In the last ten years NOT A SINGLE PERSON has been killed by a cyclist doing a wheelie;
2. In that period, 280,000 people have been seriously injured and 17,000 killed by motor vehicles.
A well organised group are causing delays on our roads, costing us millions of pounds every day, delaying ambulances, causing people to miss flights, appointments etc, this group go under the name of"The Incompetent Offending Drivers", watch out for them, they're everywhere.....

I've often been called upon to give advice on how to deter speeding on rural roads, I always have said that if you can get some wildlife crossing signs placed it works better than anything else, as drivers worry about killing aninimals or damaging their vehicle more than people.
Driving licences should be like firearms licences... If there's anything that suggests you can't be trusted with the responsibility then you shouldn't have one 👍

@CyclingSurrey
If only you wanted to learn and grow and see things from different perspectives. UK cycling has worked itself into a lather over 'dangerous' driving and any tolerance of human error has gone out the window. Drivers resent the sense of pious infallibility exuded by many cyclists.
As someone who works in this sector currently it's impossible to disagree with any of this...and it's supposed to be satire ....there is no such thing anymore.
Lots of angry drivers today getting all wound up about this...Why?... because they are realising that they can be caught anytime anyplace anywhere

@allpartycycling
That doesn't make sense.... Don't wear headphones so you can try to hear something they think you can't hear... 🤔 How about drivers look out for people crossing the road 👍
Surely anyone who uses a vehicle as a weapon should never be able to hold a licence again... You wouldn't give someone who attempted a mass shooting a firearms licence.... 🤔
The everyday lived reality of being endangered by incompetent or at times intentional offending on every single journey is what puts people off
