1: So my crash footage has been doing the rounds today. Hitting over 1,300shares on Facebook with 111k views. @theJeremyVine was also kind enough to share it too. I’m happy for it to be seen, provided it inspires a positive discussion about genuine road courtesy and kindness.

It would seem a majority of the 1300+ shares have come from either Driving Instructors or those having a good of laugh at another humans misfortune. Plenty of people supporting the BMW driver and lambasting cyclists for using the road. Too predictable. Still disappointing though

On the whole, Twitter is far more kind and reasonable, in general, than those that commented on the Facebook post. Thanks everyone. I took the Facebook post down in the end. Far too much toxicity, negativity and a severe lack of understanding as to what the video demonstrates.

@oaxa @theJeremyVine The roads are designed for multiple use. They’re also designed to be used in accordance with the Highway Code. I, for example, followed Rule 179. The driver, failed to follow the first rule in the Junctions section, rule 170. “Watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists...etc”

@andyj2859 @theJeremyVine He’ll attend a speed awareness course. The incident wasn’t malicious, just carelessness. He was a young man just not aware of the seriousness of driving. My hope is the course will be enough to adjust his attitude and focus whilst on the road. Not prosecuting.

@craigbrady73 @cukmersey @theJeremyVine It’s scary - almost chilling - how people defend the driver in spite of the footage being pretty damning. I do agree that being more defensive is always good, however...you can’t argue that the driver is on the wrong side of the road at the end of the day. Fact.

@appseyes @LTDAForum @theJeremyVine 🤣. A tweet with substance this is not. If your drive in the UK ‘Taxi Driver’, you’ll be familiar with the Highway Code. Check out rules 170 and 179. Cars are at very least, most of the time, 2-tonne metal boxes that could wipe out a bus stop. There are, by virtue of the fact that there are millions of cars on UK roads, plenty of drivers that are simply not fit to drive a vehicle. We’ve all seen them. That can’t be argued.

2/2: i didn’t maliciously slow down after being beeped, but after the beep I was a little distracted. Next time, just wait. Don’t be a tool. Use the horn to warn leople of dangers, not to self-troll. Then you’ll be able to save those precious 3 seconds next time. Boy.

@scott_parkes Oh dear oh dear Scott. I don’t think you quite understand the law, taxes or how the roads are funded. Have a quick google and then revisit this conversation.

@joehj300790 I was going to do a drinking game: when someone mentioned road tax in the comments - do a shot. Problem is, there are more uneducated people than I had realised that still don’t understand road tax or how roads are funded. My liver would be destroyed! 😭

@DoomlordVek @Shmufkin_TV @TheDynaslow @theroyalparks Actually, not all roadnusers are entitled the same. Drivers use the road via a revocable license. Cyclists, horses and others use the road by right. So...actually, in terms of who’s road it is...It certainly seems vulnerable road users probably have more of a claim to that.

@appseyes @LTDAForum @theJeremyVine Excuse my hasty tweeting, I’m all thumbs today. Sorry, what TD was actually saying is that, erm...well, come to think of it what on earth are you saying? What a load of unfactual, in accurate garbage you’ve come out with.

This will stoke the flames of aggression. Possibly in both directions. We’re all road users and need to simply get along.

Using a mobile whilst driving is silly. Doing it in a branded vehicle? 🤔. @OakwoodEstates , I would kindly ask you have a conversation with the young lady driving the white Smart Car past Braywood School this morning at around 08:40am. Stud Green towards Oakley Green.

@livy58 @karennewton2014 Ah, Graham. You are a wonderful stereotype. As a person that drives for a living, you are held to a higher standard. Your understanding of the Highway Code and road safety should be second to none. Are you sure you’re suited to driving & deliveries with this attitude? Patience.

@Hi_ElsaZheng 😂😂 hilarious. The world going crazy because a made-up half-fish fictional character has the ‘wrong’ skin colour to what they have pictured in their mind? Grow up! It’s all a story!

It’s been a great training camp so far here in #Kaltern , Italy. It’s been a tough week. Whilst the distance hasn’t been anything incredible (330km), the elevation is something new for me! In the 4 rides we’ve done so far we’ve climbed a total of 3,500m. Most of which at over 12%!
