So I got an Uber tonight. Driver was doing 35mph in a 20mph limit. “You know it’s a 20mph speed limit don’t you?” “Yes, but it’s fine this time of night, there’s nobody about.” Sigh. Driver reported to Uber, who can verify his speed using their trip data.

On narrower roads, riding in the middle of the lane is safer. Drivers often indicate late (if at all!), and you need to be able to anticipate. Take extra care when overtaking, as there may be other road users wanting to come out of the junction that don't give a shit either.

@mxwebs20 There's no obligation for cyclists to use a shared path. You'll tend to see slower ones on them, but not fit for purpose for a road bike. They're rarely swept, full of thorny stuff, and this one in particular has eight junctions on it. It's just quicker to be on the main road.
