I lost my wallet while hiking but a couple days later someone found it. And returned it via mail. With all the money. And left a great note! People are pretty good sometimes.
A personal update - I’ll be joining the
@ericadamsfornyc
administration as Communications Director, starting in January. I can’t wait to get back to serving the city that I love, and working with all these people who want to make it even better.
Proud of my friends, former coworkers, and volunteers at
@MomsDemand
and
@Everytown
for what they’ve achieved. While not everything we need, this deal is big.
Just to clarify here,
@NYCMayor
was talking about using innovative technology to keep the subways safe. He was (of course) not saying we should consider using airport style metal detectors. He’s a frequent rider and obviously knows that’s not practical.
Once again
@Everytown
and
@MomsDemand
were electoral juggernauts this cycle. From candidate recruitment and support, to strategic deployment of substantial resources, my former colleagues are getting it done for gun safety.
We’re in awe of the 100+
@MomsDemand
volunteers and gun violence survivors who had the courage to
#DemandASeat
—and WON. Because of them, we’re building the bench of future Gun Sense Candidates.
"Wow you made my day. 😁 Thank you for sharing your post! Since I am not on twitter, to those comments, a. Yes i am an immigrant. B. Zinx was supposed to be Jinx. C. Sorry for letting people know how much cash you carry 😆"
Ok I have a big update. Using
@LinkedIn
I found Youjin, my wallet guardian angle. She's not on twitter, but I'm sharing her message, with her permission:
Shouted “hey, can you move in??” On a crowded 4 train for the first time since March 2020 and honestly it felt great. And people moved in!
@NYCTSubway
@MTA
A personal update – I started this week at
@pfizer
, leading Executive, Digital and Policy comms. I’m thrilled to join a company that helped save the world during Covid and has so many exciting things on the horizon. And it's a great NYC company so I will not be going far.
This photo was taken about five minutes before
@NYCMayor
branded me the “fun police”. It’s such an incredible thrill to be working in this building, for this mayor, for this city. And somehow I don’t think I, or anyone else, will stop him from having fun…
After nearly 18 months, today is my last day as Communications Director. These nearly two years have been some of the most fun, challenging, and rewarding of my career and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. An earnest Twitter thread:
"Sure, please share my response on Twitter and please let then know my handwriting is better than that.
I just created an account on Twitter since it's thrilling to read people's reactions."
I don't have her handle yet but will share when I do
Have switched back to wired headphones. Easy to switch amongst devices; people know you are on the phone; eliminates possibility of buds falling out of your ears and under parked cars. Thank you for your support.
The
@GlennThrush
ghost guns story is leading today's
@nytimes
. Appropriate, given that easy access to untraceable guns is, as
@JohnFeinblatt
says, the biggest threat to our public safety. It's also why
@MomsDemand
and
@MomsDemand
have been attacking this issue from all sides.
Let me add to the chorus of former
@SenSchumer
staffers - I am unbelievably proud of my former boss and my former colleagues (and current friends) for passing this historic piece of legislation, through a 50/50 Senate no less. It’s stuff books are written about.
Love everything about this article, especially
@Aaron_Donovan
's statement. "Are you a bus?" is now how I will start all quotes.
“Are you a bus? If the answer is no, avoiding a ticket is easy: Stay out of the bus lane,” said spokesman Aaron Donovan.
As someone who lives here, grew up here, whose family all lives here, it is an incredible honor to join
@ericadamsfornyc
@NYCMayor
in serving New Yorkers.
This SCOTUS decision is a huge looming problem, and
@NYCMayor
is raising the alarm. From

‘Be very afraid’: Mayor Adams predicts peril in NYC if Supreme Court repeals gun license law
@C_Sommerfeldt
I stopped paying attention to football last week when the Bills lost. Plus my family is from philly so I don't mind. But just to clarify for everyone
@ing
me, NYC gov't doesn't control the Empire State Building's colors.
Hey
@Santos4Congress
care to explain where you worked, why you lied about being on the Volleyball team, who funded your campaign, why you faked a dog charity and bounced checks trying to buy puppies, and where you got the nerve to lie to the New Yorkers who elected you?
Proud to be colleagues with the people who put together
@NYCMayor
's address at Kings Theater. An honest and powerful message that every New Yorker should hear. Lets get stuff done.
Took a couple days off and did some backpacking in the Grand Canyon. Highly recommend both the trip and removing yourself from cell service for a couple of days. America’s national parks are an incredible treasure.
So great that the city builds these lovely parking lots… err… plazas… and then allows folks to park there whenever. The license plate cover is really just the icing on the cake.
I ran the comms and government affairs teams at the
@MTA
when NYS passed congestion pricing. Having a role in that victory will forever be one of my proudest moments.
A funny thing about working for government is that when you forget to lock your phone and repeatedly pocket dial the last person you called, it’s not your wife or your college roommate for example, its someone like the schools chancellor. (Sorry, David)
We’re looking forward to the event later today. What we’re announcing will NOT hinder future rail activation. We’re in close coordination w the mta on this.
In the news this morning: Mayor Eric Adams announces funding for the QueensWay, a High-Line like park on unused train tracks that may directly interfere with the tracks The
@thequeenslink
would have used. More to come.
A perfect choice for
@GovKathyHochul
.
@thehogrebe
is one of the all time greats and was an incredible partner this last year and a half. Congratulations to everyone involved. NYS comms is in good hands.
In addition to everything else, thinking today of my former colleagues at
@Everytown
and the amazing
@MomsDemand
volunteers. They do the heartbreaking, difficult, maddening and absolutely vital work to change this country's relationship with guns.
As always, it is good to see former coworkers (and current friends) at
@Everytown
working with
@NYCMayor
to keep New Yorkers safe from gun violence.

@nicksuplina
I often talk about how
@NYCMayor
brings joy to the work we do. Last night we did our daily planning call while he was on the Staten Island ferry. And throughout the 30 minute call, New Yorkers of all stripes, excited to see the mayor, popped in to the frame. It was the best.
Today we’re at Gracie Mansion hosting a summit with
@Everytown
@OurMayors
@JohnFeinblatt
@MikeBloomberg
and more than a dozen mayors to talk about gun violence and holding gun manufacturers accountable. See the new data at
Big shoutout to the mid-fifties gentlemen in a Nissan Rouge blasting “zombie” by The Cranberries and singing along at the top of his longs. Going in to the weekend right.
Nearly a year later, we finally manage to go on a honeymoon.
@spearlg
immediately finds the most iconic restaurant in Paris for a photo. ❤️❤️
Nothing like finishing off a pastry tour with a good ol’ fashioned American meat tube.
Since the Senate calendar for 2022 was just released, I will offer my yearly reminder: anyone who describes recess weeks or time out of DC as "paid vacation" has never worked for a federal elected official and doesn't know what they are talking about.
Big day at City Hall. Announcing new two top leaders - Camille Joseph Varlack as COS and Sheen Wright as First Dep Mayor. Deeply sad to lose
@frankvcarone
and Lorraine Grillo, but these two are up to the task.
Today is the first day of full restored Alternate Side Parking…and our streets are crying out for your help. Will you move your car? (and thanks
@SarahMcLachlan
)
I’m off on vacation for a few weeks, then will back at City Hall to tie up some lose ends at the end of next month. But once again – a big thank you to everyone with whom I shared this experience, inside government and out.
I’m excited to share that I will be joining
@OpenNYForAll
as its new Executive Director.
I can't wait to get to work and push for the solutions we need to fight New York’s housing crisis alongside this amazing, woman-led leadership team.
Why this is such an exciting moment 🧵
@ShontellSmith
Shontell, respectfully, the mayor’s statement was about the fact that judges in NY cannot consider danger to the community when deciding whether to remand someone and hold them WITHOUT bail. No other state in the country does this, and neither do the federal courts.
The nation owes a huge debt of gratitude to
@shannonrwatts
. She ignored death threats and online harassment and has done as much to build the modern gun safety movement as anyone alive. She's saved countless lives and was a perfect partner for
@MikeBloomberg
and
@Everytown
.
EXCLUSIVE:
@shannonrwatts
, one of the country’s most influential gun-safety activists, says she will retire later this year from Moms Demand Action, the grass-roots advocacy group she began in her kitchen a decade ago and grew into a political juggernaut.
The thesis of today’s
@NYMag
piece - an agglomeration of already reported anecdotes, anonymous interviews and unsubstantiated attacks against our work - is that the mayor hasn’t accomplished much. It's silly for a variety of reasons.
Between infrastructure, gun safety, CHIPs, and the PACT Act, all passed in less than a year, I can't recall a period of so many big and substantive bipartisan accomplishments for Congress.
With a 50/50 Senate.
This is true. Seems like good policy to ask agencies not to send out releases that are going to get lost - during a less than one-hour period when the mayor is speaking.
Before today's budget speech,
@NYCMayor
's team ordered city workers to not send out any tweets or press releases during his remarks.
"We want there to be one message coming from the city while the mayor is speaking,” an email from City Hall said.
“the
@NRA
has routinely lobbied against proposed child access prevention laws, saying they make lawfully-owned guns “legally useless.”
[But… ]retailers sell dozens of reasonably priced pistol safes that can be accessed in seconds”
Overheard in the bullpen, by one of my most delightful coworkers. "no no no, it was just a joke!" Then mumbled, in a philosophical tone..."obviously not a very good one if I had to point it out..."
I've seen a bunch of people tweet this so let me say clearly - this is a lie. It's an accusation made by a group hostile to this administration, and the NYT printed it without any factchecking or even the offer to refute it.
"Mr. Adams’s team injected itself into a volunteer welcome effort at the Port Authority for a photo op, grabbing food from volunteers’ hands so that the mayor could be shown distributing it himself."
🚗🔴 Amazon tells NYC it will stop selling illegal license plate covers in New York.
@ClaytonGuse
Mayor Adams said NYPD, Sheriff’s office will crack down on “ghost cars,” those w/ phony plates, or illegal plate covers to skirt tolls, cameras and cops.
And
@GovAbbott
responds to
@NYCMayor
Statement from
@mark_miner
:
"Because of the high taxes and out of control crime, people are already volunteering to leave New York City without the Mayor asking."
The mayor was asking NYers to film law enforcement from a safe distance and not do anything that would a) interfere with an arrest b) put themselves in danger c) put officer or subject in danger. He was in no way saying that NY'ers don't have right to film police.
Late to this but
@WHCOS
/
@RonaldKlain
has been an extraordinary COS who has helped
@POTUS
make our country better in countless ways. He also happens to be one of the kindest, most decent people in politics. Congrats on all he has achieved, and hope he gets at least a short rest.
@theeashleyray
I'm a couple of hours late to this but this isn't true. I flew with him, we boarded right on time (the flight landed 21 minutes early, in fact) and he had a mask on the entire time.
