#NYPD is thinking of recently-retired Sgt. Newell Laird, who passed this week. Started as a Transit cop in ‘93; diagnosed w/ throat cancer on Xmas Eve ‘13; fought back to full-duty months later; won a Teddy Roosevelt Award in ‘15. Thank you, sir, for your dedication to all NYers.

. @Chicago_Police PO Ella French & her partner were both shot last night during a vehicle stop. Officer French succumbed to her injuries & her partner is hospitalized fighting for his life. The hearts of the entire NYPD family go out to our friends at Chicago PD.

Today, when a strap-hanger was robbed on the 4️⃣ train, these @NYPDTransit cops were on the case. Hearing the suspects’ description over the radio, they spotted him quickly & took him into custody. ⬇️ Another example of outstanding work your cops do every day to keep NYers safe.
