3.7 million of you chose not to ride with us yesterday because you want to
#flattenthecurve
.
We miss you, but for now, we’ll say: thank you for not riding with us. You’re keeping NYC safer.
Port Washington Branch trains will stop at Mets-Willets Point Station for the BTS concert Saturday, October 6. Save money, buy rail tickets before boarding trains. For schedule info, see:

But actually, we were testing a new "flex gate," which is a flood barrier that would allow us to seal off a subway entrance. We "test flood" the entrance for four hours to make sure it was installed correctly, which it was!
We're doing this because climate change is real. ^JLP
A new one for us (we think): Two goats are roaming along the N line tracks in Brooklyn. They’re safe and not currently affecting service, but they are on the run. We’ll keep you posted.
The BTS concert at Citi Field is this Sat. You can take the 7, but note: E, F, N, W, S trains replace 7 service between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Queensboro Plaza. Flushing-bound 7 trains run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74 St, then local.
Hello, everyone.
Rumors are spreading. We prefer facts.

We are continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation and listening to public health experts. You should do the same.
Good evening. Subways and buses will operate a weekday schedule tomorrow.
If you can stay home, do it. We’re here to get nurses, doctors, child care workers, first responders, transit workers + anyone else who needs us where they need to go.
Remember: Take care of one another
The new WTC Cortlandt station on the 1 line is now open to the public. It’s fully accessible, has fewer columns for easier customer flow, and is also air-tempered to keep you cooler on hot days.
We suspect someone has intentionally disrupted thousands of commutes on the 2/3 lines today by activating multiple trains’ emergency brakes. If you see any suspicious behavior, please @ or DM us details ASAP, including car #, so we can get trains back on schedule.
Update: Jon Stewart, the 🐐 herder? The former host of the

Tomorrow, March 19, we’re running regular service again for the health-care workers, first responders, transit workers, foodservice workers, an anyone else who needs us. Stay home. Stop the spread. Listen to the experts.

NYCT President Andy Byford is out wishing customers a happy, healthy 2020, and thanking our Transit colleagues for their hard work tonight.
From Train Daddy himself: "Have a great night and get home safely! Mind the gap."
Hello, New York. Sarah Feinberg here.
I'm going to cut to the chase: too many people are still taking the train. Full stop.
If you're not working in a field designated as essential, going to a medical appointment, or getting necessary groceries or prescriptions, STAY HOME.

This is... Newkirk Av-Little Haiti!
Today, we celebrated the renaming of our Newkirk Av 2/5 line station to commemorate the social, cultural, economic, and civic contributions of the Haitian community to the borough and city at large.
The 110 St (Central Park North) station will reopen tomorrow morning after the March 27 fire in which our colleague, Train Operator Garrett Goble, tragically lost his life. Our stations, track, infrastructure, and cleaning teams have worked around the clock to restore service.

We stan the legend! Get Ed Shapiro on the phone, case closed. Maybe she can do train announcements for us as she did for

Great news, F and M train riders! 🎉
This morning, we restored regular subway service on both lines after completing extensive track replacement work on the 63 St line connecting Manhattan and Queens.
Good morning, New York.
We're running full service on all of our lines after NYPD completed its investigation at 36 St in Brooklyn.
B/W trains are running on their regular routes, and all D/N/R trains are stopping at 36 St.
Thank you for riding with us
@Yay_Bryce
Good evening. This is the first we are hearing about this. Can you please let us know some more details about this, such as whether or not this was reported to the NYPD? Feel free to DM us. Thank you.
Good evening everyone.
📢STAY HOME.
Subways and buses are running this weekend.
📢FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS.
Do your part to protect them. Stay home. Stop the spread.

Sorry for shouting, but it’s New York; *some* old habits die hard.
We're getting reports of power outages in station complexes throughout Manhattan. We're working to identify causes and keep trains moving. More information to come.
For the first time in nearly a year, we're happy to announce...
"This is a 242 St/South Ferry-bound 1 train. The next stop is 168 St. Stand clear of the closing [elevator] doors please." (1/5)
@ScottWeinstein3
@ValaAfshar
Got it - thank you for that. We are getting this info over to our turnstile maintenance department to have this turnstile checked out and addressed. We're sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this has been causing!^JAF
As part of our preparations for your safe return during phase 1 reopening, we’re installing new floor markings and signage with directional cues to help you keep safe a social distance.
Give yourself some space when you can.
@lindseyadler
Hey, Lindsey. Can you tell us which way you were headed, and if you were on an N/Q or R train? We'll get the Mike Trout of the subway system (all of our Stations crews today have an OPS+ of ~200) to get that shoveled ASAP. Thanks. ^JLP
This morning, a fire killed our colleague, a train operator who'd bravely reported for duty to keep New York moving during a global pandemic.
We're offering up to $50,000 for any information that leads to an arrest in the
@NYPDtips
criminal investigation. Call 800-577-TIPS.
Please note, the 5 designs will be dispensed randomly at station booths and MetroCard Vending Machines. We will be sure to let you know when they run out.
The first new R211 subway cars have arrived for testing! Here’s why we’re excited:
✅ Wider doors for faster boarding
✅ Better digital signs inside and out
✅ Brighter lighting
✅ A sleek new exterior design
✅ Ready for our modernized signal system
That means:
1. Stay home if you're sick.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Cough into your elbow.
These measures are not just for you—they're for your fellow New Yorkers, especially those who are more vulnerable.
Let's take care of each other.
If you don't need to travel, don't.
If you're traveling with us, wear a face covering.
You're doing your part to keep the subways safe for the people who need them most.
Thank you and welcome back

💪🍎
On the way to my first ER shift in 3 weeks.
About half of the people are wearing masks.
Most of them are homemade.
I love New York and am forever grateful to live in this city.
We'll continue to provide 24/7 real-time service updates and 1-1 customer support on our social media channels.
If you hear rumors, check this feed. We'll be the first to tell you if anything changes.
Wash your hands. Be kind to each other. Stay tuned.
Take care. 🍎💪
Whether you’re a doctor, a police officer, a home healthcare aide, or a grocery store worker: we salute your service.
On Friday, March 20, subways will operate a regular weekday schedule to keep getting you where you need to go.
📢STAY HOME📢
Slow the spread.

Our teams worked tirelessly throughout the night to restore subway service on almost all lines (the 6 remains partially suspended).
While trains can run everywhere, service may not be frequent. Some lines have *extremely* limited service. In Queens, consider LIRR if possible.
@3meany
Good morning. A cord was pulled on a train at 14 St-Union Sq causing delays and changes in service. We know this is frustrating. Please know we are working on fixing things within the next 5-10 years with our Fast Forward Plan. ^CB
@Lzzzy_Hi
, which 20 Av are you referring to D or N line? If 20 Av D line, take N train to 14 St for L to 6 Av or 8 Av for A, C, D , E or F to West 4 St. If 20 Av - N line take shuttle bus to 59 St for R train to 14 St for L to 6 Av or 8 Av for A, C, D, E or F train to W 4 St ^JG
Train service is extremely limited, if not even suspended, because of heavy rainfall and flooding across the region. We strongly recommend you avoid traveling at this time, if you can. Check before you travel.
Update: We are working with Con Edison to determine the root cause of the ongoing power failure, which is affecting Midtown and the Upper West Side.
Several stations are currently without power and are being bypassed by all trains. Please stay tuned here for updates.
👋 It’s day 1 of Phase 4 and we've been disinfecting 24/7.
We still need you to wear your mask. They're available for free anytime at booths, and starting today volunteers are handing out thousands on subways and buses.
Meet the Mask Force 👇
This morning, we reported that a “train’s brakes were automatically activated” along the F line, disrupting many of your commutes. We’re often asked, “what activated the brakes?” Today’s answer? This seltzer bottle, which was found under a signal stop arm at York St. (1/3)
We are investigating an earlier brief loss of ConEd power in some locations in Manhattan that caused delays on 1, 2, 3, A, B, C, D, E, F, N, Q, R and W trains.
Power has resumed and trains are moving but there are ongoing impacts to service. (1/2)
For the MTA, Twitter is no longer reliable for providing the consistent updates riders expect.
So as of today, we’re saying goodbye to it for service alerts and information.
But we're not saying goodbye to you, our customers! There are lots of ways to get real-time updates. ⬇️
If you do not have to travel, stay home. No excuses.
We will get through this if we work together.
Stay safe.
Wash your hands.
Thank your train crew.
(If you miss the train like the rest of us, turn your sound on.) 👇
