This burned-out car was making us steaming mad. 🔥
Trashed vehicles have no place on our streets. We worked with the
@nypd110pct
in Queens to remove 18 derelict vehicles & issue summonses to another 17.

@NYCMayor
Adams.
The next generation is thinking clean & green; more pizza crusts in the compost bin and less rat food in the trash.

BINS WORK.
Enough is *enough*!
We’ve had it with these #$%^& snakes, err, litter, on the #$%^& highway!
The
#NewYorksStrongest
Highway Unit are not easily rattled and cleaned up the mess along the Long Island Expressway – no snakes to be seen.
As always, don't litter!
When do compost givebacks begin in Queens & Brooklyn...well, it's gonna be this month!
Yes, we've turned your food scraps & yard waste into beautiful, rich compost. Scraps in the bin = compost in your garden; keep it up!

Cameras are great for catching illegal dumpers, but sometimes they're clueless enough to get caught IN THE ACT, like this bozo who emptied a truck of household waste in Eastchester in the Bronx.
Just like the others: summons issued & truck impounded.
Don't dump on our City.💥
It's warm out! If today's weather made you realize it's time for a new air conditioner, make sure you get rid of the old one the right way.
Make a free appointment online () or via 311. We'll remove the harmful CFC gases & pick up the AC for recycling.
NYC is home to hundreds of Smart Composting Bins, accessible 24/7 with an easy-to-use app.
Find a bin & get the app:
Interested in Curbside Composting? All of Brooklyn & Queens have service now; Manhattan, the Bronx & Staten Island join later this year.
Still spring cleaning?
Our Special Waste Drop Off Sites are open every Saturday and the last Friday of the month.
Residents can bring electronics, car tires, paint, batteries, motor oil and e-cigarettes/vape pens for proper, and safe, disposal.

Say cheese(CAKE!)...because New Yorkers are snapping pics and reporting businesses that don't follow the rules!
Do it here, and we'll summons every day until we see compliance, just like we did for Junior's:
ALL trash in a bin, with a lid that closes.
"I'll just abandon this old van in Gravesend. I'm sure DSNY and NYPD won't do anything about it."
BZZZT, WRONG, THINK AGAIN.
We worked with the
@nypd61pct
to remove 34 derelict vehicles and issue summonses to another 60.
Report trashed vehicles here:
Dumping trash bags from your van and moving them down the block STILL COUNTS AS ILLEGAL DUMPING.
Our camera caught this dumper leaving a mess along the street in
@CMFarahLouis
' East Flatbush district. We issued a $4000 summons & impounded the van.
Don't dump on our City. 💥
How can we celebrate
#EarthDay
every day? Compost!
Residents in BK & QN already have access to the largest & easiest curbside program; SI, BX & MN residents join soon. Together with Smart Bins & schools, we all kept 211M pounds of material out of landfill in FY23 alone!
🍎🍂♻️
The less time the trash sits out, the better, and starting tomorrow, ALL trash collection Citywide will begin no later than 5am.
New Yorkers are putting it out later, and we're getting it earlier - so make sure to set material out by midnight before your collection day.
Think our cleaning work is something new? To be blunt, weed like to tell you a thing or two...
Back in the mid-1950s, we were in the weeds cleaning up these, uh, plants from lots around the City. Perhaps it was a joint effort with another agency? They look like bud-dies to us.
The Nassau Expressway is right near JFK airport, one of the first areas that visitors see when they get to NYC.
Earlier today,
@NYPDnews
made us aware of a condition that needed some quick attention. We jetted right over and got the job done.
