Sports Science Consultant. I have helped with research, conditioning programs, and consulted with the exercise industry on rotary inertia and vibration.
My entire life exercise researchers have been doing studies on 1 vs multiple sets of resistance training on rec trained subjects. Isn't it time to move on? People are different w different dose responses. And for rec training who cares as long as they resistance train?
The group that used the eccentrical flywheel for rotational training had a 150% improvement in club speed relative to the study average, in half the time. via

And don't forget strength training as prevents brittle bones and falls in elderly. Good ways to do at home now without spotters such as

Just bizarre that ACSM Pres would say they are no longer getting $ from their founding partner Coke but are getting money from Pepsi! Pepsi (Gatorade) is also a huge

Anybody know of real 'breakthroughs' in s&c or 'sport science?' I see studies on stuff from 30-50 yrs ago repeated over and over...and not much seems to change. And we still have a disconnected university system w athletic & academic depts...
Quick now - who is the Patriots team sport scientist? Oh, they don't have one listed? lol I know who their sports psych consultant is/has been for a long time but think about this - the greatest dynasty in modern sport does not have a team sport scientist listed...
Isn't it way past time to require sport coaches to be educated on sports science/medicine and coaching pedagogy? All the knowledge we have in our fields that seems to be wasted...
Noticed person w PhD in sport science from ETSU (only PhD program for sport science I am aware of in US) & 9-10 yrs experience was hired by women's bb at Big 12 school as Performance Director. Now, why don't we see ppl like this hired for football & men's bb at Power 5 schools?
Note training guidelines essentially same as Arthur Jones, Darden promoted almost 50 yrs ago! Only difference seems they advocated 1 hard work set most of the time. Interesting 1 of Brad's own studies showed no signif difference between 1 or multiple sets...
Was honored to collaborate with some terrific researchers on this infographic for the

Curious how many s&c or 'sport scientists' working with pro or major college teams have been in their roles for 10 yrs with same team? 5 yrs? Not many - only for 10 I can think of is Hudy at KU. Most don't last even 5 yrs!
I am vaccinated but do not get the mandates at all! Let all the immigrants in that aren't vaccinated but to work many places you have to have. Makes no sense at all. Listen to Bradley!
23 years ago I pub article with NSCA titled 'Concepts for Baseball Conditioning' emphasizing it is ATP-CP System sport. I wonder how long it will take to slay these dragons or if they will ever be slayed?
While the aerobic system can play a vital role in energy-system-dominant sports, itโs still not a main player in the sport of baseball, says

I am aware of a Fortune 500 company in the financial sector that STARTS customer service reps (no higher ed required) at $31,200/year. Repeat - no education required - no debt - and will pay up to 20K a year for tuition for those that want to get a degree.
FB Coaches should not be hiring S&C Coaches. All u need 4 evidence of this was Frost at Nebraska saying publicly after 2 rhabdo cases last winter he 'had never heard of rhabdo.' Frost is paid millions, was even at Oregon (where rhabdo after he left) before he went to UCF.
@NSCA
With the recent tragedy at Maryland and rhabdo cases at Nebraska, Oregon, and Iowa in 2011 wouldn't it be nice to see studies like this done on college football in US?
@NSCA
"Given the link between coach dismissal and increased rates of muscle strain injuries, increased attentiveness to preventing muscle injuries during coaching transitions and to the impact of new training regimens is required by trainers and medical teams."
Just got off a webinar featuring military people. One said only 29% of young people can pass tests to serve in the US military and most of it was physical (eg, fat and out of shape). He mentioned it was a threat to national security in the future.

I wonder about reliability of all these devices and how much the data is actually used to help coaches/athletes?
Universities in US have been terrible at this for exercise science, 'sport science,' and s&c. Very little (if any at most schools) collaboration between academic & athletic depts. In 'exercise science,' other than being a prof, where are the careers outside of cardiac rehab etc?
To prepare students for the workforce today, colleges should teach students emotional intelligence, resilience, empathy, integrity, learnability, and leadership skills.
Been really feeling the concept of no release medicine ball work lately. The impulse it creates on the body to generate stability and rapidly distribute tension is something I think has a lot of value when instituting medicine ball work into a program

Cartoon characters w little institutional oversight.Highest paid had bunch of rhabdo cases at Iowa in 2011.Most S&C do not make big $.App St hired 2 FB S&C last winter & positions not even posted w

I think it was Dr Sands who pointed out how useless group studies with means were for elite Olympic athletes. What if the mean of the group improves but the top individuals with best chance to medal don't?

I am from a small farming community in NE Nebraska. I left and have been all over the place while others stayed. Who is to say one is better? They have a stable existence and small town values.
Compare
to Mladen's listings. How many new jobs has the NSCA added since Mladen has updated listings 4-5 times? Maybe 1? What does NSCA do to help s&c coaches?
How you coach an athlete to use the ground in a rotational exercise is critically important for transference to the actual sport.
