Historically Korean voters divide along regional lines (Yeongnam/Honam), but media hasn't paid that much attn as in previous elections. Support seems to divide by region, but not as much as past and not as much as by generation/gender #대선투표율

What you described — that much change all experienced in just 70 years — is refered to as a compressed modernity by sociologists in South Korea. It’s caused a mulitude of side effects not seen anywhere else in the world. Prof. Chang Kyung-sup at SNU researches this.

What’s striking isn’t this shift in attitudes per se—we see this trend worldwide. What’s different about Korea now is how swiftly these changes happen. In modern Korea, social change is compressed within microgenerations, so it’s more difficult for society and government to adapt
South Korea is witnessing a significant shift in youth attitudes toward marriage, with only about 30% of teenagers believing that marriage is essential.
This is a whooping 43.7% decrease from a decade ago.

Voters in South Korea may be less divided on policy than they are on political identities, Yeilim Cheong and
