@Califer9 @AceLukeMusic @thornhawthorne You're comparing the wrong units. The 5 limit is nmol/L, which is 144 ng/dL. Most cis women are within 15-70 ng/dL, which is well below 5 nmol/L.

@thornhawthorne I would get LC-MS (liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry) tests instead of immunoassays. Immunoassays have biotin interference, and also cross react to things like estrogen.

@RayTrainToTrop @ThunderWolf08 The only other trains running at 217 mph in revenue service have been tested up to 260 and 303 mph. Most high speed trains have a design speed 30 mph over their revenue speed, so testing up to 242 mph is pretty normal, if not a bit low.

@NeilSchloth @Gothamist @NYCTSubway @MTA They can't run on long express stretches of more than 5 minutes because the gangways don't have smoke detectors installed yet, though apparently retrofitting is difficult and expensive.

@TheLIRRToday Princeton Junction is an important location for Acelas overtaking regionals. Acelas never stop there and go through at 150 mph, soon to be 160 mph, and would be 187 if not for flimsy NJT windows.

@CampariMD I don't think it should be banned, but CPA has the same risk of fulminant hepatitis that bica does, as well as these numerous other risks that compound over time. Why is it a better medication for anyone than estradiol monotherapy, bica, GnRH agonists, progesterone, spiro, etc?

@RunalAPatel @yfreemark No, that was the older plan, which was very stupid since it had a million grade crossings. The PEL report rightly found those grade crossings would be terrible, but they kept the one at Metropolitan. The ROW is wide enough for 4 tracks except for the All Faiths Tunnel.

@antarestrader @mateosfo HSR can do 4% grades; see Cologne-Frankfurt HSR. And Brightline West plans to go up to 4.5%. That's a considerably higher limit than 1.5%.

@RM_Transit @BrendanDawe I thought that part of Brightline's greenfield tracks are good for more than 125 mph, and that they're only running 125 there because that's the limit of their diesels.

@TheLIRRToday If you're going to dig a new lower level terminal station, you should dig it under 36 St., as it's the same amount of new track, but it helps with deinterlining QBL. Or you could just extend the G to Jamaica 179th where's there's plenty of capacity.

@TransAlt @CMSandyNurse @EastNewYorkCLT @RidersAlliance @CID_NY @Straphangers @NydiaVelazquez @PCACriders @JabariBrisport @riseandresistny @UPSTANDMovement @SandyforCouncil They should use the IBX to build an underground station between Broadway Junction and East NY. The station platform would span most of the distance, connecting the stations while also giving the IBX excellent transfers, as it currently plans to skip Broadway Junction entirely.

@timeoutburner @infrstrctreweek Here's the Brightline West President saying it will run 200 mph and take 1:50 for an average speed of 119 mph. Their website also says 200 mph. They previously planned 186 mph but have since increased it. The trains themselves can run 220 mph.

@NCSwasfarleft @GabeHalliburton China built their HSR starting with Velaros, too. Velaros are still very good and far easier to acquire. The CRH380BL Hexie Hao, a version of a Velaro, holds the record for the fastest unmodified conventional train at 303 mph.

@the_transit_guy While a gas station on a subway station isn't great, it does make future conversion of 36th St into an express station easier than if there were a tall residential building. An express 36th St station would make deinterlining QBL much easier.

@TheLIRRToday So the speed difference between NJT and regionals is less than that between Acelas and regionals. And passing platforms at 160 mph is not ideal, though they do it in Kingston and Mansfield.

@InsiderTwets @eta_ny This tunnel could fit both A and B division cars, but it's the East NY Tunnel that's much tighter. It can fit A division cars, but the MTA thinks it can't fit B division cars.

@on_a_bike @BadTakeEnjoyer @yfreemark @ladydreamspeed If you read the article, you'll see there are no buried bodies that tunnel would go under. Only the corner of a mausoleum. The rest of the tunnel goes through a road and parking lot in the cemetery.

@ConnorWebby @BrightlineWest They used to say 186 mph and 2:10, but recently they (Brightline West's President) have been saying 200 mph and 1:50, so I believe they've increased speeds. Their website currently says 200 mph.

@TheLIRRToday But Acelas will have to slow down for the regionals that stop. And the Acelas will have to slow down for the regionals that don't stop as well. And if the NJT window issue is fixed, Acelas will probably be prohibited from passing platforms at 187 mph.

@monicamallon @AnthonySnyder8 Why is it too late to make changes? SAS phase 2 was already federally funded and set to start building within a year when they cut $1.2 billion off the cost by reducing station size, reusing tunnels, and building one station cut and cover. Why can't VTA do the same?

@AryaSaj @MassJumbo @GTCarfree Pretty much all of Connecticut is blocking HSR. The existing ROW from NYC to New Haven could be 45 minutes faster just with less schedule padding and running the full speed the geometry allows. It's not because CTDOT is awful. Metro North would be 45 minutes faster, too.

@CampariMD Cyproterone is unavailable in the US for a reason; it has a significant risk of VTE, as do pretty much all progestins, and also causes meningiomas and prolactinomas.

@monicamallon @honestly_tbd @AnthonySnyder8 SAS phase 2 is building the 106th St and 116th St stations cut and cover to save costs. Only 125th St is mined because it goes underneath Lexington. If cut and cover stations can be built in East Harlem in NYC, 11x denser than San Jose, San Jose can do the same.
