Look. Without pen pushers like us, the NHS wouldnā€™t run either. You might not like it, might not think itā€™s true, but it is. Recruiting less of us means more work for the doctors and nurses that they donā€™t need to be doing. Funny thing is weā€™ve also trainedā€¦

(Finally) phoned my GP today to get help with mental health. Appt at 1.30 with mental health professional, as they could speak to me sooner than my GP. This is top tier service. This IS NOT avoiding seeing me/neglect/not seeing your patients. Love my GP ā¤ļø

Iā€™d just like to say and show off that I have a brilliant GP and I am honestly scared for the day that he gets fed up and leaves being a GP. As always today heā€™s listened, shown interest and helped me. As he always does. We would be screwed without them.

Please donā€™t compare our wages with yours. We do very different jobs and if we worked in the private sector would probably get a lot more. You are underpaid. That is the fact. Not that we are overpaid. Also Iā€™m at the bottom of that scale mentioned before anyone goes for me.

Can we just not? Well done Pret on paying your staff well. Doesnā€™t matter if they have degrees or student debt or not (how do you know they havenā€™t, by the way?) they deserve a well paid job. As do NHS staff. But they donā€™t deserve it MORE. Everyone deserves it.

So Pret baristas will now be earning up to Ā£14.10 an hour. New NHS doctors - after their 5-year medical degree, whopping Ā£80,000 of student debt, & life & death responsibilities - get paid Ā£14.13 an hour. And the government wonders why they're striking?

This is absolutely disgusting all round. How anyone in a management position feels they can behave in this manner towards clinicians raising concerns is beyond me. This is why clinical staff feel we should also be regulated and face consequence and honestly I agree.

Everyone in healthcare - read this article until the end. Your comments may not seem relevant but look at it from the patients point of view. Look at what happens when people donā€™t get clear communication - which there is no excuse for. We need to do better.

Over my 40 years in the NHS, power was relentlessly moved from doctors to managers. Bureaucracy often placed above patient interest. Far too many managers are overpaid and underqualified, contributing very little. My view? Their wages would be better spent on frontline staff.
