Breaking : The large part of the collapsed Key Bridge was detonated today at 5pm.
Officials used controlled explosives to remove parts of the Francis Scott Key Bridge sitting atop of the Dali cargo ship Monday. As the explosives went off, a big boom could be heard through
George Treas III put flowers from his garden up for a memorial. "I would've been coming over that bridge that time of day because I would be taking a lady home from work from the bar and it just so happens that she don't work this week.”
Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed a few hours ago after being struck by a ship, and rescue teams were searching for multiple people believed to have fallen into the Patapsco River, a Baltimore Fire department spokesman confirmed.
The Turner Station community in Dundalk, right near where the FSK Bridge once stood less than twenty-four hours ago, participated in a vigil at Mount Olive Baptist Church where people of all denominations were welcome.
If you watched the video of the Key Bridge, you saw one vehicle make it over mere seconds before the collapse. Through an incredible feat of detective work and reporting,

I’m proud of the

newsroom today and especially my tiny photo team who provided visuals for all the stories.
This catastrophic of an event isn’t easy to cover & it was done quickly and correctly. I grew up in this city, that bridge was a landmark in my life. ♥️
I love a foggy day in Baltimore. I met Jack, a visiting researcher from Virginia, at the pier in Canton Waterfront Park. He was admiring the fog and the view.
I found out during a press conference with community organizers from Comite Latino de Baltimore and CAPSI that just shy of $100,000 was raised in only a FEW HOURS today for the six families who were impacted by the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
Covering insane breaking news in the community I grew up in, that my loved ones grew up in, is a different type of exhaustion. The men in my family were all ironworkers, my dad was Local 16. The type of work that ppl do on those bridges and roadways is not for the faint of heart.
Many of the smaller kids sledding here at Patterson Park today have never experienced snow like this that they can remember.
When asked how she felt about it, seven-year-old Sloane Morris said, “It’s awesome!”
Shouting out my photo team at the

A vigil was held tonight for 8yo Dylan King who was found upstairs in his home with a gunshot wound to the head by police last Friday.
His parents told
@BaltimoreBanner
he loved sports, video games and was very, very loved. "He was special," his father Roland King said.
Whenever something makes national news here in Baltimore, I brace myself for all of the out of town journalists.
Ethics matters. Using the death of someone who stood up for this city as a way to further stereotype it is unethical.
You are doing HARM.
PSA here : if you’re protesting and don’t want your identity to be shown it is YOUR responsibility to conceal it, not mine nor my other media colleagues. Your own devices, live streams, and social media posts give more information on you than my camera ever could.
Since X doesn’t let me type a lot of characters, I made a video talking about why the Key Bridge collapse hits so close to home for me and why subscribing to local news during times like these is so, so, so important.
Thanks for supporting me and my

I just met

And yes, he does smell very good. I made it a point to sniff him to report back to y’all.
A vigil was held for Pava LaPere tonight. Her father, who lives in AZ, spoke of how she would send Baltimore sunrise photos to him everyday. Her friends spoke of how excited for life she was. Her employees spoke of how she hired and prioritized women & POC to work in her startup.

A vigil was held tonight in Baltimore to honor the slain journalists who have been covering Gaza. As of today, at least 68 of our fellow media colleagues have been killed.
This is a disgusting headline, even for y’all. Shame on you. Attacks on members of the press are frequent and this is what you chose to say? Don’t forget - you are also members of the press.

Baltimore has such lovely residential architecture. I feel like a lot of people don’t know that unless you live here. It’s some of my favorite that I’ve seen!

I was really disheartened to see how unprofessionally the Cox team treated the media tonight after inviting us to be there. We showed up and made sure our reporting was balanced despite it being made near impossible. I’m very proud of my team tonight.
A roller coaster of emotions today. The world continues to turn. People attended Opening Day at OPACY and cheered for the Baltimore Orioles. A moment of silence was taken for the victims of the Key Bridge collision.
Pitting news outlets against each other who are all doing their absolute best to bring you the news isn’t the solution. I’m really over it.
A city is best informed when there are multiple outlets. Let’s support our talented passionate colleagues at the 🌞 during this hard time.
Sheesh! I went out to get some dinner supplies and I didn’t know it was this wild outside. 🥶 Please don’t drive, the roads are AWFUL. These are in Upper Fells.
It’s been a long week for us working in the news industry. The last time I remember covering news on this level in Baltimore was almost 10yrs ago. I know it feels longer than a week for those who lost loved ones

It’s been heartwarming to see all of the support from the community to those who lost lives on the Key Bridge. The hateful things people say about Baltimore are drowned out by the love. I’d like to document and photograph any memorials or vigils taking place, so plz let me know.

The community continues to come together to honor and support the lives lost on the Key Bridge.
Early this morning, despite the rain, a prayer circle was held at the Patterson Park Observatory by Redemption City Church. Neighbors and friends held each other and sang hymns.
The Turner Station community in Dundalk, right near where the FSK Bridge once stood less than twenty-four hours ago, participated in a vigil at Mount Olive Baptist Church where people of all denominations were welcome.
Another vigil was held tonight, this time at Masjid Ul Haqq, where all denominations were welcome.
“We will always remember this bridge as a symbol of Baltimore. We pray for the families who have gone through this tragedy. We want to tell them we stand with them.”
If you’re in Baltimore City and in need of a photographer for yourself or a business PLEASE hire from within the city. There’s so much talent here. I’d be happy to pass along names and portfolios.
It’s funny how a lot of people assume I’m not from Baltimore. I am. Grew up in South Baltimore right before the Hanover St bridge and now live over East. Grew up swimming at the Riverside Park pool and riding my bike down Fort Ave. There ya have it. 🪩
Here’s a fun throwback to February 2013, after the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII 34-31. I covered the parade downtown.

Agree and I also agree that it should be easily accessible to all. However, the journalists who work in news 24/7 deserve to make a solid and liveable wage. They deserve to be sustainable. Working in news isn’t a hobby or part time thing. Money is needed to do that.
the news shouldn’t have to be profitable! the news shouldn’t have to be profitable! the news shouldn’t have to be profitable! the news shouldn’t have to be profitable! the news shouldn’t have to be profitable!

The fact that people don’t know what an intimacy coordinator is is wild to me. The description of what it is is in the name itself : intimacy coordinator - they coordinate intimate scenes. 😩
It’s not anyone’s business BUT I feel like saying this might help others.
I’m woman in her early 30’s who recently got an official ADHD diagnosis. It’s more than just not being able to focus on things. Learning about it has greatly improved my life - both work and personal.
Here is what is left of the FSK Bridge, a little over twelve hours after the collapse, taken from a boat about a half mile away. Helicopters and a US Coast Guard boat are circling the scene.
Watching these kids was so precious. The bigger ones were helping the little ones and making sure they didn’t crash too hard. They were helping pull each other up the hill and fixing each other’s sled contraptions.

Grief is peaks and valleys.
Grief is just love with no place to go.
