@emilykmay I can't imagine a double ADHD marriage. Early in our marriage, we'd have conversations like: Him: Are you ever going to unpack that suitcase? Me: What suitcase? Him: The one you just STEPPED OVER on your way to the bed. Me: ... oh wow! Look at that!

@emilykmay It’s so gross. Like the videos of parents telling their kids they ate their Halloween candy. It’s never cool to make your child cry, publicize their tears, for likes and follows. I’ve never understood the appeal.

@emilykmay Some people are just terrible to children. A woman asked my daughter about her Christmas once, and she (4) happily shared she'd received a cotton candy machine. This woman looked right at my 4 year old and said "Aren't you afraid it will make you fat?" (And I didn't hit her!)

"Atheists don't have to grant that their view is metaphysically impossible." That's reasonable. But so is this: Theists who affirm Nec. existence don't have to grant that their view is metaphysically impossible. Both face a burden of justification. At best, this is a stalemate.

It is important to remember the dialectical context here. This is a reply to WLC’s moral argument. The burden of justification is on the defender to argue a necessary being is metaphysically possible. Atheists have no obligation to concede their view is metaphysically impossible.

@rachalli @aprilajoyr Not a wedding planner, but I'm from 2 huge families and weddings were practically annual for a while there. Give me a kid-based horror story over a drunken-adult-based horror story all day every day! (Same for planes. I'll take toddlers over self-important guys on cell phones.)

Really wish this "Kant" character would remember to grab his stuff from the department printer.

@courtneyellis Ooh another! Gave me a long & detailed play by play of his workout that day. Muscle by muscle. Lots of groaning and flexing. He was an absurdly fit guy & very handsome, but (again) this is just not my way. I need a man with whom I can have a burger & beer. Also ice cream.

I always feel a little bad teaching Descartes' First Meditation on a Thursday. "How do you know you're not in a simulation? How can you trust your senses at all? about anything? ... ...OK, have a great weekend! See you Tuesday!"

I am not making this up. This happened today. I am still recovering. Student: When was this paper written? Me: I think sometime in the 90's... Student: And they had, like, aspirin and ibuprofen back then? Me: In the....in the 1990s? Student: Yeah. Like, with those names? Me: ...

This just arrived, unexpected & unsolicited. Looks great! Working with Jaegwon Kim was a major highlight of my time in grad school. Outstanding teacher & scholar, & an incredibly kind man. This is excellent motivation to hit some upcoming deadlines so I can dig in to this!

@LeahBSassy For reasons I still do not understand, I once told a guy on a first date that if I lived in a place where people homeschooled in a community I was definitely going to homeschool. On a first date. And he married me!

@hunt4change "Everyone SHOULD STRIVE TO BE a partner who has the tools in their toolbox to be emotionally mature, responsible, and respectful while providing sexual pleasure with affirmative consent." (Fixed it for you.)
