Made calls to her "friends". Showed her pictures of my cat cuz she likes cats. Pulled my flipper out of my mouth to show I'm missing teeth too.I am so frustrated. She hit her pipe and thanked me. Such a cute broken smile. I suspect no one had talked to her like a human in days.

I stayed with her over three hours. A mystery. why was she discharged and left? Across the street from life saving devices. She was immobilized by cold, having no foot, a broken wheelchair, rotting hams for hands. Her addiction: which she inhaled every minute Who left her there?!

I am so angry. I talked to security, desk, EMT's catching a rare 5 in parked ambulances. We were literally right there on a bench across from Emerg for 2-3 hours. They said "what business is it of yours". I understand better today, their burnout, their frustration, their "why?"

Carrie has lost a foot and her hands are next. I recognized her lean and the sound of butane. Tried to compel myself home but halfway there came back because all the walkers shuttering their eyes made me sick. I knew I wouldn't sleep. She was wearing a hospital gown in the cold.

Carrie was clear: She needs drugs. She wants to die. Wants to go back inside. I ended up calling 911 to re-triage her and an EMT walked over an hour later. Everyone annoyed at both of us. Kept asking me why I was there. This added to my confusion although I understand better now.

They wouldn't let me wheel her back in. Since she had already been there and left they couldn't just come get her without a mental health act. What are we doing?! She was cold and crying and high as kite, very ill and in need of medical care for her hands and feet at least.

@sqwabb @Cariboojeff11 Thanks S, a genuinely confusing situation. The visible anger of the EMT's was jarring. I asked one why he was being so sharp to me and he apologized, said he was on hour 15. A friend helped me understand that the EMT's have PTSD and a sense of futility in the face of this crisis.

Such a perplexing situation. C had clearly been in hospital that day. still wearing gown & bracelet. At some point was released or convinced someone to wheel her out, I think because she needed to use. Too sick to move herself. No one was coming for her. She had nowhere to go.

Leaving YVR. Dorset Realty just listed my 1BR apartment. It's shabby, no hot water in morning, no d/w or w/d, three storey w/up, freezing in winter boiling in summer, hallways smell funny. None of these things bother me because it is beautiful. it was 1300$ 4yrs ago. 1900$ now.

@blkmsk @HaitianDvorce cuz small biz bosses make shit. owner of small cafe here. first to arrive last to leave. do all the dirty work plus all the cooking/serving/supplying/problem solving/Clean the grease trap/grill/bathrooms/walkins myself, work holidays and cover staff time off for less than 15/hr.
