Twitter: "[A] platform that used to be vital and relatively smart, but which is now refuge to the some of the most feeble minds on the Internet."
@arseblog
nailed it. I'm tired of this forum.
This is such a cop out. Lawyers who take bad clients need to own. No, you are not required (unless appointed by a court) to take every client. Don't blame immoral arguments on some ethical requirement.
If you choose to take a case, it is on you.
Apparently we lawyers are not allowed to take clients and/or make arguments that some people think are “immoral.”
We are ethically obligated to do what’s in the best interest of our clients. You don’t have to like it or agree with it.

Ever flown through Miami?
But as someone who lived in Chicago for 30 years and now lives in a Chicago suburb, what is the knock on O'Hare? It doesn't bother me at all.
@FoxNews
It is possible, if you do a further search, you may find a photo of her with a SLEEVELESS DRESS!
Somebody quick! Get me get my faintin' couch!
@FoxNews
Now THAT is a major scandal! We are back to the good old days when things like this and saluting while holding a coffee were BFDs! Go get em lads!
/snark/
@annacaroruiz
The bar exam is deeply flawed. The idea that for one day of your life knowing a bit about Crim Law or Secured Transactions will make you a good lawyers is just ridiculous. Two days after I took the bar, there is no way I would have passed. You learn the material for 1 day only.
@GovAbbott
@POTUS
The actions of Texas are frivolous. For a couple hundred years, states could not block navigable waterways without approval. It is clearly illegal.
It is too bad that rather than work on a problem, the governor goes for meaningless and futile stunts.
@mocena
Based on my years defending trucking companies, never drive in a lane next to a semi. Stay behind or pass the semi. On top of the obvious line of sight issues, I've seen some load shifts where the load was not properly secure, crashes through the side, and crushes a car.
@WalshFreedom
I'm amazed that people don't get how big of a deal it was.
Trump tried to overturn a free and fair election.
That has ever happened before.
It would be the end of democracy in this country.
@BklynMomBoss

@Ktg_draws
First, asking is never a HIPAA violation. Second, in nearly all scenarios, the request can be denied and as such turning over the record is voluntary and not a violation. Third, vaccine records are required as a matter of routine. You cannot attend a school without one.
@steve_vladeck
I hate to say it, but it is a Trump appointed judge. Bush and Reagan appointed some pretty far right wing judges, but they were nearly all somewhat mainstream.
Trump found judges who are bizarre.
@asymmetricinfo
I'm always amused when non MDs claim to be experts in cognitive issues. Those same people are also infectious disease experts and Con Law experts.
You are not a doctor.
You don't have the training.
I've been practicing for over 25 years. Very rarely do I come across opposing parties or witnesses who really creep me out. I can't discuss the case, but today was one of those days. I might have nightmares about this one. Seriously.
What is is like to own your own business:
1. I'm completely swamped right now. Working 15 hour days.
2. I wake up in the middle of the night panicked because in 3 months, I might not be swamped and what do we do then and how will we pay the bills and . . ..
@legalytical
None have any meaning. If you get a group of friends together, you can be a SuperLawyer. I've looked at lists in my fields and it is by no means a list of the best I've been up against. Beyond that, for a lot of us our C.V. speak for themselves. I've never bothered with that stuf
@cattitude383
Just a head's up -- if he bothers you that much, you can block him. But please don't. He's a notary public with diplomatic immunity and you just can't predict how he will respond.
@RepMTG
@RepMoBrooks
So, the same people who want to fire Dr. Fauci are the ones who think Jewish space lasers caused wild fires?
NOW THAT is a huge story. Never saw that one coming.
@BadLegalTakes
I was trying to figure out the intent of his question. It sounds like he confused "fetus" and "uterus" and rather than clarifying, he doubled down.
@RMFifthCircuit
It is amazing when stranger step in when a parent is struggling. Going through LAX when the twins were 10 months, I struggled to carry my son, a huge stroller, and a heavy carry on. Without saying a word, a woman took a side of the stroller, helped me to the gate, smile and left.
@herong
Formula One safety.
After the death of Aryton Senna, the sport looked at driver safety.
As a result, the sport went from one or two deaths a year being somewhat common to no deaths from 1992 to about 2015, and that one was a fluke based on racing during a monsoon.
@420AttyChicago
I don't do family law, but I helped out a relative once. Literally within a minute of walking out of the courtroom, he threatened that he was going to call family member's boss.
Dude, we just walked out of court. Didn't you listen to the judge?
@AKBrews
If you try to use the "Chat" feature on the bank's website to ask about it, they immediately close the session. Guess there must have been some feedback.
@BadLegalTakes
He literally asked the question.
He doesn't know the difference.
I rarely say this about another attorney, but his thinking is completely irrational and there is no way anyone should hire him.
@JuddLegum
98% of people, including me, barely have any idea of what it is which makes the outrage fascinating. It is like being outraged about whether Paul Dirac deserved the Nobel Prize in 1933.
@annacaroruiz
Adding, "gate keeping" in itself is not necessarily bad. It could be used to weed out people who are incompetent.
However, the bar exam is terrible at the role. It fails to weed out those who should not practice.
@christinadcress
"You don't have what it takes to be a trial lawyer. You should find something where you can sit in an office." That was from my father, who sold plumbing and heating. As with most thing he said, I ignored it.
@FSSUK
@Kate_MLA_SF
Same here. My CV is 8 pages long. I've spoken at national meetings for industry groups. I've never been asked to pay if I speak. I'm putting a lot of effort into my speech. You don't get that for free and ask me to pay to attend.
@TheRealHoarse
Yeah, but it depends on political activism.
The Bush twins were out of bounds.
Trump's adult kids were not.
Barron is absolutely out of bounds.
@NomeDaBarbarian
It has been amazing for daily quality of life issues. I can still walk into a courtroom, kick the other side all over the place and like it, but day to day I'm overall more calm. Now it is a choice to kick ass rather than pure instinct. I'm a huge Wellbutrin fan.
@AmyCPV
@zachwolfelaw
100%. "At the first status hearing, just tell the judge what happened and then we will win."
No. At that point, the judge barely cares. She just wants to know the status of pleadings and how long discovery will take.
This is a great example of stories where people need to read beyond the headline.
On it face, "sued for being cut from a team" is ridiculous.
Then you read the story and depending on the facts produced at trial it seems like a very serious matter.
@philawsostef
@Briefslayer
I've been practicing over 25 years. Any attorney who doesn't go to therapy needs it most. It is a tough profession and admitting you need the help is one of the few ways to survive it.
@kirkjangel
Telling the jury something once, even if it is not contested, is not enough. You need to keep driving the facts home. Unless you repeat multiple times, the jury will not get it.
@zachwolfelaw
Just once I would love to see a movie with a realistic dep scene: the attorneys going at each other aggressively over objections and then, when they take a break, the same lawyers discussing the best BMW dealers in the area and whether a 5 series really is better than a 3.

This is a post about business expanding in Illinois. Yet nearly all the comments will be talking about the Governor's weight or otherwise insulting him.
If your response to a post about business opening is to ignore it and talk about the Gov's weight, you are not pro-business.
@WalshFreedom
What gets me is that Trump is on tape. These are not unsupported allegations.
The indictment is based on his own words.
Yet his supporters still refuse to deal with that reality.

"I'm sorry candidate, but due to diagnosed depression and some undiagnosed personality issues, I forget the successes and continue to re-live any minor failures. It works for me but I don't recommend it."

That he is seen as having any value at all shows how far conservatives have fallen.
He was an absolutely vile and terrible human and the world is a better place without him.
We need to treat him how treated others.
@John_Kass
@chicagotribune
Here's the thing. Kass writes such crazy stuff, it is impossible to tell if he's serious.
When you make a career of being a goofball, you can't do parody.
@GregHinz
@chicagosmayor
I'm pretty liberal. I've supported Democrats since 1984 (volunteering for Paul Simon for Senate).
But I really am tired of elected officials claiming that they have unilateral authority to order private businesses to just about anything.
@the_scrivener
The idea that you are going to be producing high quality product consistently working those hours is ridiculous. It either become rote or the quality of the work drops. Either way it is not good for the clients.
@ProfMMurray
Yeah, but I don't see the big deal in that one.
I hear that met over a glass of whiskey and discussed wrestling.
Sure it is not as famous as the Stephen Douglas debate but both made some good points.
@ayyy_vuh
@ActNormalOrElse
Sure, but some of us qualified that by concentrating in political philosophy. We spent all our time reading Locke, Plato, Hume and others.
I'm not really sure how the other PoliSci majors spent their time.
@LizCGil
2. I had tried small cases and I had spent countless hours in bars talking through trial scenarios with people who were senior or of similar experience. You don't get things like "be the one holding the door for the court reporter during sidebars" in a Zoom conference.
@gsep123
The initial question for the year was whether he would have more spins or points.
Now I think the question is whether he will have more spins than laps completed.
I honestly cannot recall any driver who was so terrible at driving as Mazespin.

My degree is Juris Doctor. I am a Doctor of Law.
Would I use the title? Heck no. But it is like a Phd. So yes, I earned it.
What is the big deal anyway?

Personally, I'm looking for a god that thinks it is OK to have 3 wives, sleep with porn actresses, commit fraud and still considers me very holy.
Any ideas where I can find one?

So you haven't read the story, but you are suggesting that there is some politically motivated conspiracy against him?
Wow.
That's quite the analysis right there.

Trump voters don't seem to get that Hunter and Joe are different people. Payments to Hunter are not payments to Joe. There is just no evidence to show that the President benefited, but yet they keep screaming about it.

Same here. My boss can be outrageous at times. Of course, she rage quits too at times. Somehow we've managed to keep the firm in business 10 years, and the marriage for over 20.

@WalshFreedom
Trump doesn't debate. He doesn't discuss issues. He can't. He yells about people he hates and calls people names. It appeals to his base but it isn't debate.
@pa_tall
@Eric_Erins
Those demands were so far out that it wouldn't be worth the time. I do a lot of negotiations (although I don't negotiate with unions). This is simply pass/no counter.
What is always interesting about the Governor's post is how many feel compelled to comment on his weight.
Would the MAGAs feel better if he was 200 pounds?
Would that solve any problems?
Welcome to Chicago,

Capital Conference!
We share a key goal: to build the most equitable, accessible, and prosperous cannabis ecosystem in the nation.
And here in our state, we're moving toward a cannabis industry that actually looks like Illinois.

If you had ever practiced law, you would know that's absolutely false. If you had ever been to court you would know that being in court is not remotely similar.
The detachment of law prof and the practice is fascinatiing.
Go watch some real court appearances.
