Fenwick has produced a governor, astronaut, Heisman trophy winner and Pulitzer winner. Now it finally has a football state champion. The Friars beat Kankakee 34-15 to win Class 5A.

Loyola beat No. 5 Florida tonight. Jacobs grad Cam Krutwig, a freshman, had 14 points and eight boards. Simeon’s Donte Ingram had 11. Freshman Lucas Williamson, a Young grad, played 16 minutes. Ramblers have been making good recruiting decisions for a few years now.

Chelby Frazier took a lot of crap for this photo, got caught with a goofy look on his face. That seemed to happen a lot with him. He was always bugging me to come see him play, always touting Thornwood. And he was right. He was better than I thought and so was his team.

BREAKING: According to a source the CPS Board of Education will allow CPS football teams to practice today. That means the teams will be able to play in the playoff games if the strike ends by Friday.

Some good news: Morgan Park football coach Chris James says that his team's helmets were delivered today. Hearing that the Schutt Sports' CEO went to Mexico to handle the problem himself to make sure the kids were able to get the helmets in time for practice on Monday.

So Charles Matthews (St. Rita) and Michigan vs. Jalen Brunson (Stevenson) and Villanova in the title game. Should be fun. The two did not play against each other in high school. Both were in the 2014 Proviso West Tournament but didn't meet up.

Good news for media. The IHSA just announced that per the IDPH media is no longer considered part of the 50 spectator limit at events. It will be a local school district decision.

IHSA board is meeting right now. There have been rumors going around that some sort of new sports schedule may be released. Not sure if that is more hopeful than factual, but we will find out this afternoon.
