A mystery over how Republican Rep. Devin Nunes is funding his defamation lawsuits against journalists.
"This kind of lawfare against journalists is on the rise, sometimes forcing journalists to spend money in court, the intended goal to have a chilling effect," says
@JohnAvlon
Tonight the President did a live impersonation of a man having an orgasm at a campaign rally. I’m hardly the master of decorum or civility but let that sink in.
I mean, that's self-evident. He wouldn't have been chosen otherwise. I will also say the RNC's opposition research on all VP prospects for Obama was extremely thorough. I saw pretty much every piece of RNC oppo in 2008 and I didn't see anything like this.
NEW: The lawyer who oversaw the vetting of Joe Biden for Obama tells us: “This kind of complaint — not just Tara Reade, but any kind of complaint about Senator Biden on sexual harassment — never came up...we found no such accusation.”
So, the church on Martha's Vineyard is taking in the Venezuelans fleeing communism that Florida sent up there. The mayor is on CNN crowing about it. Real own goal by FL making *Massachusetts liberals* look more Christian and sympathetic to victims of communism than a red state.
I think tonight I may have reached the point where even though Biden will win my state by at least 10 points and doesn’t need my vote, I may vote for him just out of pure spite for the guy who apparently wished Ghislaine well. Just fucking resign already.
@Timodc
I don’t think the Epstein stuff is going to implicate Trump as a pedophile. I do think it’s going to serve to remind a lot of people that he gave and gives zero shits about the morals and ethics of people he pals and palled around with and is basically a narcissistic starfucker.
I rarely do this and I’m not going to explain why right now but I’ve been sitting here on Twitter trying to distract myself from something bad and it’s not working. So I’m just going to ask: If you believe in God to say a prayer for my family right now? We could use it.
So, presumably McCabe is going to sue. And presumably in the course of that suit, some pretty interesting disclosure will occur. This seems like a dumb move by Team Trump.
Without getting into the why, I’d like to just say that I’m having a particularly hard time tonight. I know many who follow me aren’t religious, but I would nonetheless ask for your prayers, good vibes, thoughts, whatever. Life can sometimes become unexpectedly tough.
Jesus, can you imagine a debate between Sanders and Trump? How much crazy-ass, old man yelling would there be? How many people would shoot themselves just to make it stop?
Guys, leave the My Pillow guy alone. He's trying to do something good, probably will succeed, he just doesn't really get the time and a place stuff for some of his commentary, which is not surprising because he makes pillows and is not a professional politician.
I swear to God I better never hear any Rs in actual leadership roles talk about fiscal responsibility or fiscal conservatism again. Fuck you all, and thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Interesting... as votes continue to be counted, Devin Nunes, who normally wins his races with 70%, is sitting at 53.5%. That's quite a number.
@CATargetBot
To be fair, I think the

writing up your investment in a winery that allegedly used underage hookers to solicit investment-- an allegation you've known about for years, during which you've stayed invested in it, I might add-- did surprise you.
Four days ago the FDA put the brakes on using plasma. Now, the FDA is giving it an emergency use authorization.
Serious question: What changed in four days?
Just received discovery requests from
@DevinNunes
in relation to his lawsuit against me. He wants details of every single statement I've made about him since January 1, 2018, which sounds like a potential effort to depose my FIVE YEAR-OLD.
This is fairly nuts. Bill Gates is in the process of giving away literally all of his wealth to charitable causes. The only difference here is Bernie thinks he can spend Bill's money better than charities that Bill has vetted can.
Say Bill Gates was actually taxed $100 billion.
We could end homelessness and provide safe drinking water to everyone in this country.
Bill would still be a multibillionaire.
Our message: the billionaire class cannot have it all when so many have so little.
New Trump ad hitting Biden appears to have disclaimer needed for TV. If I were any TV stations, I’d be VERY reluctant to run that ad. Standard for defamation of public officials is high and rightly so but this ad is plainly and deliberately inaccurate and walking a fine line.
I really hope that when WH Correspondents go to their briefing tomorrow, they will be specific and read actual excerpts re de facto child abuse from, e.g., this AP story. Don't describe. Quote. And demand a response.
Lindsey Graham ends interview with Chris Wallace by kissing up to Trump's daugher-in-law.
"The biggest winner I think of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump... If she runs, I will certainly be behind her because I think she represents the future of the Republican Party."
If I were in the Senate, this is why I'd vote against Kavanaugh. I get that this has been a v tough experience for him (and for Dr. Ford), and he is human. But SCOTUS justices have to literally decide life and death. His temperament isn't right for the job
I don't know if I agree with this, but I maintain that any Supreme Court nominee from any philosophical camp who acts like this in a confirmation hearing for any reason automatically disqualifies him/herself. I know it's a minority view, but it is my view.
Anita Hill noted that during Thursday’s hearing, Brett Kavanaugh expressed "a real anger, an aggression, as well as a lot of emotion." No female Supreme Court candidate, she said, "would ever have the license to express (herself) in that way."

also apparently wants a copy of my tax returns for 2016, 2017 and 2018. As a reminder, this is a sitting government official using litigation as a cudgel to stifle my free speech and, frankly, intimidate and harass me and my family.

$100 to anyone on House Intel tomorrow who straight up asks Sondland how fucking stupid he is to be doing work calls from his cell on the Eurostar. But it’s gotta be pretty direct like that; use of “fucking” not obligatory.

@TheRickWilson
and I did in 2016 hitting Trump on this kind of thing. We had basically no $ to run them but they were HIGHLY effective in moving Trump-inclined folks off him.
NYT: Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his 1st year in White House, he paid another $750.
He paid no income taxes at all in 10 of previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made
1) This is according to RNC polling of its donor list
2) Sanford was in Argentina to see the woman he loved. You were banging porn stars while married to Melania who was either pregnant or had recently had Barron. So much seedier than seeing someone you’re *in love* with.
Can you believe it? I’m at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me. One is “Mr. Appalachian Trail” who was actually in Argentina for bad reasons....
That’s nice, but the inaccurate perceptions of the law that drove this are 100% those that Abrams’ group went out of their way to convince people were facts and amounted to Jim Crow 2.
Just tonight: The Appommattox Co Republican Committee is censuring
@RepRiggleman
....weeks before leaving office...for officiating a same-sex wedding in 2018, for denouncing Trump's refusal to denounce QAnon, calling his claims of voter fraud false & more:
Once again: A GREAT solution to stopping serial killers and mass murderers would be to prosecute more vigorously animal cruelty crimes and increase the penalties for them. The correlation— or even actual connection— between people torturing/killing animals and humans is STRONG.
Yeah, I’m not being a conspiracy theorist here but this is 100% what I looked like when I had pneumonia that nearly killed me and I was trying to stand still and not cough for a few minutes so my family might not think I was dying for just a few minutes.
Sorry, but Trump won that by a country mile. It probably won't matter because there are so few undecided voters and so many people have already voted early or by mail. But Biden really underwhelmed and underdelivered.
I honestly won't be surprised if John Bolton is turfed out of the NSA job within 2 months. He and Trump just don't see eye to eye nearly enough for him to last. And everyone under him will want to kill him with a million leaks.
Another bad thing going on here that I don’t think ANY senator should stand for: NO ONE FUCKING CONFIRMED RUDY GIULIANI AS EITHER SECRETARY OF STATE OR AMBASSADOR TO THE UKRAINE BUT HE WAS FUNCTIONING AT LEAST AS THE LATTER. How can any Senator tolerate that usurpation of power?

I know everyone will probably hate me for saying this, but I don't approve of Jimmy Kimmel bringing his kid on set a) at all and b) to make a political point.
He actually should have said "sure, if I'm subpoenaed, I'll show up and testify. I have the balls. The question is, does Trump have the balls to show up and testify? I'm betting he has zero balls." And then watch Trump go nuts and the GOP go "oh shit, this is what worries us."
Biden’s declaration of defying any subpoena in the Trump impeachment seems like a mistake to me.
He *should’ve* offered to show up and testify — if Trump also does so. You could have pretty good confidence that the other side wouldn’t take you up on it, but you still look good.
I mean, I want to know how this conversation went.
TRUMP: Hey, do you want to go to the loo with me?
ESPER: Uhhh...
TRUMP: No, not this one, the vandalized public one in the park.
ESPER: FUCK YES, LET'S DO IT.

Hubby and I engaged in a protracted conversation yesterday about O’Hare. I can’t think of a worse airport. Can you? Name it. He says La Guardia but I say at least La Guardia is efficient.
It’s a bit more dangerous in parts than last year but it’s basically fine. But of course, you know tons of people there— fellow Yale alums who I’m sure you palled around with plenty until this year— and this is performative bullshit tweeting, not a serious request for information
Serious question: I have to go to New York soon and I'm trying to figure out where to stay. I have heard it's disgusting and violent there. But is it like Walking Dead Season 1 or Season 4?
Pay attention, Democrats: As awful as Trump is, Bloomberg is hardly the only person who thinks this. Nominate either of these two and Trump stands a far, far better chance of being re-elected than with virtually anyone else (OK, not De Blasio)
Scenes from Des Moines 47 where only Sanders Warren and Buttigieg were viable after first vote:
Woman who had hoped to make Klobuchar viable now backing Warren;
Biden leader ruefully joins Buttigieg;
Sanders person so passionate she alienates Yang person who joins Buttigieg
Also,
@GOPLeader
Kevin McCarthy, who spent Wednesday hiding from the mob in an undisclosed location, desperately pleading with Jared, then going on TV because it was the only way to get a message to Trump—is now willing to consider A CENSURE RESOLUTION!
The 78% number comes from RNC polling of small dollar donors on its list and it used to be a 90%+ number. What's really interesting here is that Trump's approval among GOP small dollars on an RNC list fell a minimum of 12%. Think about THAT.
Sleepy Joe Biden was in charge of the H1N1 Swine Flu epidemic which killed thousands of people. The response was one of the worst on record. Our response is one of the best, with fast action of border closings & a 78% Approval Rating, the highest on record. His was lowest!
A couple things on this. 1) It kind of reads like a ransom note. 2) I'd imagine there are some Americans who would like these guys held and/or tried by the US given that these other countries' legal systems might go easier on them than ours.
The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters that we captured in Syria and put them on trial. The Caliphate is ready to fall. The alternative is not a good one in that we will be forced to release them........

Apparently,
@DevinNunes
rented Ted Cruz's email list. In my opinion, that's a little off-brand. Cruz has a large civil libertarian streak. Just my opinion, but Nunes seems... not to. Also, I love that this guy's trying to raise $$ from me while suing me for $400M.
Proud to say that Mair Strategies didn’t take a DIME of bailout money and has kept ALL of our staff on staff at normal payroll levels except me, the boss, who has taken a small pay cut but not much. I try to practice what I preach at this firm.

Well, the President clearly has no respect for the police, blue lives, or law & order since he basically just risked the lives of a bunch of Secret Service agents. What an asshole.
Hi guys, did you notice the White House lying about the weather? That's a good indicator they're trying to divert your attention from some horrible, horrible story that's going to break probably in like the next 30 minutes, likely from one of WSJ, NYT, WaPo or CNN.

I call bullshit. You raised money for the Sandinistas and a group you worked with advertised parties to celebrate the Cuban Revolution. You know this stuff like the back of your hand.
I did not know the phrase I used in Miami today was associated with Che Guevara & I did not mean to offend anyone who heard it that way. I certainly apologize for not understanding that history. (1/2)

and I told many of you people that there were a bunch of women who signed NDAs re: Trump who were pissed and wanted to talk and claimed really bad details. Looks like it might finally happen.
Multiple women are exploring potential legal cases against Trump, following the lead of Stormy Daniels, who has filed a lawsuit in order to speak out about an affair she says she had with Trump in 2006, her attorney said.
