Making the Micropipette A seminal tool for every wet-lab scientist, a micropipette is used to transfer small volumes of liquid. It laid the foundation for modern biology. Our first essay uncovers the inventors and lawsuits that made it all possible.🧵

Here is an excerpt from a fascinating paper by Molly Gardner on whether animals can have 'meaning' in their lives. I sincerely hope their often brief and perilous lives are marked by moments of love and pleasure. I highly recommend reading the paper ⤵️

Mukherjee's books are extraordinary. I had my doubts that anyone steeped in technical research to this degree would write gorgeous prose, but I have been moved to tears by his writing on numerous occasions. He is probably the most vital science writer of our age.
