Brace yourselves for the biggest cinematic experience from nollywood this year!
Brotherhood! September 23!
If you’ve most of life in a place like Ibadan like me, you will know the life in Lagos in very very very far from normal.
No jokes, I believe Lagos can actually reduce one’s lifespan
The 5 top worst cities to live in Africa in 2022
1. Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬
2. Algiers, Algeria 🇩🇿
3. Tripoli, Libya 🇱🇾
4. Harare, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼
5. Douala, Cameroon 🇨🇲
I haven’t been married for too long so don’t take my word for it but it seems your wife is mostly right
I’m yet to fully understand why they’re always right but sha listen to your wife.
My Pastor then(
@DrFeruke
) preached on humility and he told everyone to greet a stranger after service.
I saw a lady walk towards me with the intention of greeting me, I met her halfway and the rest is history😀
Ajimobi ruined 8 years of good work with bad mouth and disregard for civil servants.
To be very honest? In terms of infrastructure, Ajimobi is the best governor we've had in your Oyo State.
But baba has no regard for people.
May 2021,
@jadeosiberu
reached out for Gangs of Lagos. I had to decline cos I was busy, I was pained for months because I’ve wanted that kinda opportunity for a while
Oct 2022! I’m in Cape town editing and supervising the post production of Gangs of Lagos!
#GangsOfLagosOnPrime
The way the igbo languaage was just flowing from their lips. You can tell that the actors were so comfortable that it made the performance even more believable. We really need to keep doing more films in our local languages.
#Afamefuna
It's a delight to see that the Nollywood of my dreams is gaining flesh daily. Action movies are actually possible! First it was Brotherhood, now it's Gangs of Lagos.
Tobi Bakre and Jade Osiberu, it's the consistency for me. I duff my hat.. Owo meju!!! 🙌🏽
Edited the highest grossing Nollywood film of 2022 and the 5th highest grossing nollywood film of all time.
There’s a bigger testimony but use this one hold body.
My litmus test for anyone who tells me they want to learn editing.
Come and watch me do it for 2 days first. Come and hear one line of dialogue like 50times in 10mins and spend a whole day editing 1min of a fight scene then let me know if you still wanna do this.
Everything…
There is this funny perception people have of filmmaking and other creative careers in general.
They think there isn’t any form of repetition & routine.
News flash: a large part of this path is you repeating the same thing, the same process and it’s as monotonous as your 9-5
Dude has used the same editor for over 40years but he has married 4 different women in the same time.
Director-Editor bonds are inseparable once they’ve found eachother
My life is a product of the kindness of men, the dividends of great relationships, a strong and supportive family - All bestowed unto me by God.
Happy 19th birthday anniversary to me😌.
Actors with theatre background(or trained actors) give me the least stress as an editor.
The way they maintain energy, continuity, expressions etc across different takes >>>>
The idea that “you’re all you’ve got” is a lie, it’s pride in disguise.
It might just be a few people but there’s always someone willing to help you, you just need to reach out.
Me I just want a sustainable Nollywood abeg.
A Nollywood where a data wrangler or a PA or assistant wardrobe can afford to start a family and live a decent life from their pay. Just as it is in better climes.
Nigerian Elites 🤝 Ignoring massive plot holes in their favourite Hollywood TV shows and films but suddenly turning on their “critical eyes” when watching Nigerian films.
I don't blame them, not entirely.
What I have noticed from the DMs I get is that a lot of young people fixate on “networking up” than horizontal.
A lot of times, the person you’re trying to “network up” to cannot even help you.
You have a Camera? Collaborate with your friend that has a gaming laptop and shoot
People only half as good as you are getting opportunities and landing jobs just because they’re bold.
How long will you continue to stay in the shadows?
This is the face of the bully, she was brought to the school just now by her parent, the lady who slapped her is the Aunt to the bullied girl, the school has also been shut down for three days and minister of women affairs is there to address the issue,
🎥: Gistlover
Network sideways.
Collaborate with your friends. The “big people” you’re DM’ing might never see it.
Whilst you’re there waiting for “big break” others have built their portfolio and skill by collaborating with their friends.
The one I can remember right now is that an Ibadan boy like me that started video editing on my small hp laptop in Ibadan got nominated in the Best Picture Editor category at the biggest film award in Africa (AMVCA)
Dear Filmmaker, specialize early.
You can be good at 3 or 4 filmmaking skills but make sure there’s one you’re known for and you’re putting most of your energy into.
@Vanessa_ohaha
I should not promote/market my film because it’s not perfect?
Or focus on its imperfections and ignore how well it’s doing despite that?
I think I will rather celebrate the wins in public and take my lessons in private.
Thank you
@africamagictv
for the recognition 🙏
Grateful to the best post production team
@GreohStudios

Nigerian Christianity is too “man of God” centered.
If you’re not carefully as a church leader even your own members will put you on a pedestal you haven’t placed yourself.
I’ve followed “A Green Fever” from when it was just an idea between
@Tai_Egunjobi
and
@isaaki_ayodeji
till it became this beautiful film.
When Taiwo called for the trailer, it was a no brainer.
A Green Fever is now streaming on Prime Video!

I had to subscribe to twitter blue to make this post so please read it😭😀🙏.
I have received a number of requests to clarify post-production roles and who gets what credit in a film.
I have stayed away from doing such for 2 reasons:
1. I’m not an authority on…
A thread of some of the films I edited in 2021. Big shoutout to every director and producer that trusted me with their babies this year, I look forward to doing more with you guys in 2022! Thank you!
Bruh, I edited a 12 episode web series for 50k😂(not 50k each, 50k for everything😀)
You will never see that web series on my reel but I had to do it at that time.
Build with your friends.
The moment you sign up for a job, you must treat it with respect.
Footage comes in differently, it doesn’t matter if you feel like you it should have been shot “better”
Someone has spent money and time to create it, respect that and do your best.
An ode to love and its complexities, an ode to the old city of Ibadan where we the makers have great ties and memories, an ode to transition and growth.
Ladies and Gentlemen and everyone in between, I present to you a teaser from our first feature film. "In Ibadan".
Pls RT🙏
You're angry that people are posting Jesus. To sound like you have some higher intelligence you present it as an alternative to getting PVC, like the two events are mutually exclusive.
The juvenile method of being contrarian to garner clout.
Jesus will save you, dear 🤗

Film Editing 101
The film is the director’s vision. Your job is to bring that vision to life.
If you want it to be your vision, you have to go and make your own film.
Hi Guys, I’m currently looking to hire a video editor with experience in editing Films(Feature/Short), TV or Web series.
The Role is FULL TIME and ONSITE. The location of the job is Lagos, Nigeria.
Requirements:
*Experience in cutting feature/short films(highly important).
My rough theory is that excellence is not cultural to us as Nigerians and we really need to imbibe excellence, in every sector.
We hype rubbish easily and bare minimum works for most people.
We also have a culture that easily rewards mediocrity and makes it hard for people who…
There’s something missing with Nigerian craftsmanship. Not sure what it is but there’s something missing. We legit have some very talented folks but you see that final piece that brings something to excellence, we sadly haven’t cracked it yet.
From “stop making films about the 1% of the population” to “stop making films about poverty.”
Can we all just focus on stories that are personal to us or stories we love and know how to tell?
The only rule is not to be boring. Escapist or realistic, just make a good film mahn.
