On telemedicine visit with doctor
Me: Ok, no one has explained this to me, do I still have cancer in my body or not?
Oncologist: No. Cancer all gone.
CANCER ALL GONE
@ask_aubry
He walked right by a police office and a doorman and did not stop. Harassed her past a crowd of people and did not stop. These men have zero shame about harassing women and know they won’t be challenged by anyone. Even to the point of knowing it’s safe for them to post it online

A true entrepreneur is someone who sells an honest product at an honest price. This guy is profiting off the suffering of others.
@lcmichaelides
You raised millions of dollars from VC. That is the tech elite. You have an MBA, McKensey resume and are a CEO. Tech elite.
But your $250k is insured as a depositor. The FDIC will make you whole, but it will take time. I bet you have access to those funds by end of day Tuesday.
If you retire at age 67 and want to spend $5000 a month in retirement, you'll need about $2.5 million before you can retire. Do people know they need to be a multimillionaire before they can retire?
@hankgreen
My oncologist said “cancer all gone” to me. And it was amazing. Currently recovering from reconstructive surgery and still in preventative treatment for 5 years though.
@ehh_ptr
When I got my last house, I wanted to update the washer, dryer. I was looking in late April. I talked to a sales person, asked some questions. Asked when earliest delivery was. He got serious, “this isn’t for a Mother’s Day gift, right? Never do that”
@ask_aubry
I threw on a dress and went to the night club just last night. I am 45. We got moved to a VIP table by the owner. Sorry I am able to be cool regardless of age and "Status". Guys saying this stuff are always boring losers.
I can’t. My god. Watch this for insight into the Patreon security firings. This is shocking but many people had a gut feeling it was this or something like it.
I can't believe some people gaslit the infosec industry into "you need to learn to code" instead of "you need to understand how data traverses a wire". There is really only one way for information to become insecure. Information security IS network security.
@MissJLomax
Why do you feel the need to be so controlling ? This kid will be gone soon. When they hit 16, it’s just about over. You’re making a big mistake.
@TlFFANYK
@thejenlife
I remember when Tyra told season 2 winner Yoanna House “you need to work on your body” meaning directly that she was fat. Then they discussed her too big clothing sizes. She’s on the left here.
Here I am celebrating cybersecurity awareness month as a teen. I got that sticky pad holder as a gift from my dad. “To write your passwords on” he said, smiling. Love the traditions of the holiday!
Please. I beg you. Constantly lie to strangers. Especially when traveling. Especially women. They don’t need to know and it only puts you at risk. Lies save lies.
I can’t believe I started college in 1996 and people still ask me if I majored in cybersecurity. And want to talk about my college education as if it could possibly be relevant to cybersecurity today in 2023. Fortunately tech is the same today as it was 27 years ago 👍
For people asking how to get into infosec, my current advice hasn't changed. Learn networking and PCAPs, learn how to watch traffic on the wire. It's my advice because it is a dying art and we need to hire those people. It's about me, not you.
So is everybody else in InfoSec just completely exhausted and tired beyond measure right now? I feel like we’ve hit peak exhaustion as an industry today.

When people say you can’t get as much done WFH as you do in an office. “In person collaboration is just better” and on and on. Tell them to rip out all their open source software. Those people built the entire internet never knowing each other’s real names.
One year ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today I am cancer free and feel great! I have the best doctors in the world and they saved me. 🩷
A lot of people say "don't go to your boss with a problem unless you are also bringing them a solution" and I think this is stupid. Sometimes there are problems that need to be made visible that don't have a solution. And it's better to communicate it. And that's ok.
Do you want to work in cyber threat intelligence?
Start reading indictments, gov reports, and press releases from LEA. This is going to be your new lingua franca, so get used to speaking and reading it. You can do this without even having your own telemetry.

My doctor ordered a diagnostic test for me. It came back negative (I do not have the ailment, I'm fine). My insurance is now saying they will not pay for the test because it was unnecessary, because it came back negative.
I have the $173 to just pay it, but how is this real?
A lot of debate about if you need to know how to code to be in security. Is the dev community having a debate about how you need to know security to be a real dev?

Impossible to choose but I love this guy!!!! He is made of my fave colors. Bright red. Fuschia pink. Acid green. Best combo!!!
@IanColdwater
Don’t forget: “How is compensation structured? What is the breakdown of base, bonus, equity, and other benefits?” “How is the bonus awarded?” “What is the vest schedule for equity?”
I grew up with computers, but the first time I went "online" was in 1992. I saw an ad in the back of Thrasher magazine for the Thrasher BBS. I showed my dad and he said, "I have a modem, want me to hook it up for you?" 6 weeks later I was grounded for a $300 phone bill.
@JemYoung
My biggest short cut is responding to meeting requests asking what the person wants to leave the meeting with and then just giving them the thing over email or chat.
I strongly disagree here. We look to executive leaders to have smart, capable infosec professionals briefing and advising them. The state of MO gov office likely DOES, but those infosec pros were not listened to or consulted before allowing their exec to make laughable statements
Unpopular opinion: the way in which InfoSec Twitter has reacted to Mike Parson's technical knowledge (park the blame-shifting for now) is exactly why awareness campaigns fail - most people can't empathise with people who aren't in

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 Human analysts are superior to artificial intelligence because most threat researchers are powered by blood lust to destroy threat actors and machines cannot feel hatred.

I see a lot of tech job advice about quitting saying “you don’t have to give 2 weeks notice. Just leave same day”. While this is legally true, InfoSec is a tiny little industry and you will run into these people again. “I worked with them before” should be a positive thing
For context to my pinned tweet. It's a conversation where I was navigating the insurance coverage for my recent breast cancer diagnosis. It was really upsetting to miss a crimeware intel meeting at work. I'm having my first surgeries today and Friday. Send all the good vibes.
Found this in my basement. 2004 vintage from my first dedicated InfoSec job working fed gov. Foreign intelligence threats to information technology. Student notebook. This course was 6 weeks long.
The idea that a user can be wrong for clicking on a link, is an abject failure of our work as security practitioners. A user clicking a link should never be wrong on their part.
I pledge to you all. If your pet comes in frame in a zoom meeting, I will see it. I will enjoy it. It will be something I think about later, “there was a cat in the meeting today, good meeting”
The day after I got back from DEFCON, my dad texted me and said “I’m driving up tomorrow“. He lives in Florida. This is what he has been up to. Prepare yourself for the most dad thread you have ever seen. 👍🪣⚠️🆗🔜
I speak to a lot of journalists. And the number one thing they all have in common is that none of them have found me a ransomware actor to marry so I can live out my life on a yacht in the Black Sea.
My birthday was yesterday.

Think about this. If you truly want a stable career with advancement, pension, and decent pay. If you want a role helping your communities, garnering respect and serving those where you live - being a USPS letter carrier is one of the best ways to do that. The other option... no
The consensus seems to be that InfoSec twitter is gone to other platforms. Does this mean I should convert my twitter to just sex and dating stories? Cause… 💥
If you work in InfoSec, you’re almost always going to be in the minority. And you’re going to be seen as a barrier, a contrarian, and a cost center.
This is why I work at a vendor.
@alexandr_wang
You’re unable to work with distributed teams. You’re ineffective and bad at budgeting. These are skills you can work on acquiring. You just need to adapt to how the world does business. But you’ll need to skill up first.
Proud of myself for getting back on stage less than 3 months after a mastectomy to treat my breast cancer. I could not have asked for a better group to do it with. Thank you

This was more than just an infosec panel to me.

Want to get into infosec? A thread 🧵
Look, learn networking basics. A lot of people will tell you that you don't have to. It's true, you don't. But you're a better

Another way is to take on some light housekeeping duties. Clean out the fridge, wipe down break room counters. You can also be the one who cleans up meeting rooms and vacuums them to keep them tidy. Also volunteer to organize office birthday parties and order the food.🙄
