She moved into her £215,000 one-bed flat in March 2022 after reading an estate agent’s brochure which said service charge was £600 a year. But upon moving in, found out it was £1,400 that year. Then in 2023 it was £2,800. & this year it will be £5,500.

If ur washing machine was identified as being faulty & a fire risk you it would be removed & replaced within months. If ur flat was identified as being faulty & a fire risk in 2017 post grenfell chances r u r still living in it, cannot sell it & have to pay 💰 to remediate it.

Getting ripped off by Landlords for “Insurance Services” is a huge problem for Leaseholders This week the Financial Conduct Authority man told us that kickbacks are a thing of the past Sometimes you just have to keep chasing down the rabbit-hole till you catch your rabbit!

Leaseholders didn’t build, didn’t draw up the building regs, didn’t sign-off buildings as safe & fit for sale, do not own any aspect of the building & cannot sell their leases until “make safe” extortionate costs are paid. Literally hostages in their homes. #FollowBackFriday

Every developer or freeholder who sells a new build or renovation should have to provide a binding quality guarantee that makes them liable for any building remediation required as a result of poor design or workmanship. They should be legally compelled to insure their own work.

So, for me, the unexpected hero of the Leasehold Reform Bill Committee is Barry Gardiner. Really on top of his brief & asking all the right questions. My low point was the theoretical discussion on “redistribution” of wealth to LHers. The disconnect from reality was real.

So.. the Estate Agent tells me as my flat is B2 rated I need a letter of “comfort” detailing: - costs - cost allocation - remediation schedule Otherwise Surveyors are rating all flats in the area 0 value & banks will not lend. Even if I had those (I don’t) I would be… 1/
