VPNs don't work on streaming sites anymore because any of the ones big enough to be useful have had their server IP addresses logged and blocked by the sites. VPNs can't advertise what they're really used for though, so ad reads stick to "unblocking Netflix in other countries"

VPNs: ISPs already can't see exactly what you're doing online. Since the invention of DNS over HTTPS, your ISP can only tell what websites you're connecting to in general, but not what you do on them. This is a setting that's on by default on most browsers.
