This unforgettable moment, reuniting with my babies after a year deployed to East Africa. Thank you to their teachers, babysitter, grandparents, aunts, uncles and Mommy for loving them and protecting them. Daddy is glad to be home!

@Rob_Flaherty
Im from a city smaller than SB. Our issues may seem trivial, but the navigation of tough issues affecting peoples lives would be relevant in our broken WH that a small city leader offers. In a tough race going negative is common, but I dont think this adds anything
Don’t know if I’ll again get the chance to meet a leading candidate for President, one with whom I share a rank, a job and an alma mater. So I was honored to have a few minutes with
@PeteButtigieg
. More than his intellect or commitment to service, the man’s humility shines thru.
I am proud to officially drop the “Acting” from my title as I was sworn in last night by
@GovWesMoore
as Maryland’s Secretary of Housing and Community Development. Now, back to work.

Glad to see the other member of our small fraternity - former Mayor, now Secretary Pete. Before I deployed, there were few people I turned to for advice. Pete was far more generous than he needed to be. In gratitude, I carried this flag on an operation in east Kenya in his honor.
Glad to see a candidate for President that understands the granular detail of infrastructure repair and need for our federal government to be intimately involved in our water, sewer, broadband, transit and power infrastructure in order to create more opportunity for all Americans
Investing in infrastructure means investing in Americans, creating jobs, and building stronger neighborhoods for our families. Read about
@PeteButtigieg
’s plan to build communities for the 21st century:
When I was a kid my parents called me ‘map man’ for all the time I spent with my nose in an atlas. I used to draw imagined cities and their skylines and maps constantly. Nerdy? Sure. But as I transitioned this into a career in urban design, THIS is the present I always dreamed of
“When I was a Mayor, I believed local government was most effective at getting things done for American communities. Now that I’m a Cabinet Secretary, I know that to be true.” - 19th US Secretary of Transportation (and Mayor)

The lies here are so bold. Deployment locations are sensitive and should always be protected BEFORE, but almost never AFTER, so unless he was a Tier 1 operator (he wasn’t, he was a loggie) the document on the right is entirely fabricated. He should be in prison.

Proud to stand with
@govwesmoore
in opening wealth-building pathways for more MD families thru homeownership. Thanks to
@vp
,
@whitehouse
, and

@secfudge
for today’s FHA loan mortgage interest reduction to cut costs of homeownership for many - especially 1st time buyers.
We are experiencing a housing crisis. Marylanders are counting on us to get this right. Our response will spur new housing, ease regulations, enhance investment in low-income areas, centralize resources for renters and get our economy moving.
@GovWesMoore
Always a pleasure to hear from my friend and fellow GWOT Veteran and fellow mayor, and now Secretary of Transportation
@SecretaryPete
. And yes, the mayors gave their old friend a standing ovation!

Thank you to Governor Wes Moore for his confidence and the trust of the Maryland Senate for their confirmation yesterday. Now we get back to business.
We’re excited to see
@iamwesmoore
select
@jacobrday
as Secretary of Housing and Community Development. He has been a visionary leader on housing as Mayor of Salisbury and understands the

better than anyone. This is an exciting day for all Marylanders!
#MDHousing
The polling data is clear: the majority of Marylanders are calling on us to address housing affordability, and they are no longer willing to tolerate government inaction at any level. The time is right--we can make a difference in nearly every Maryland family's life and finances.
Listen here, folks. The

Salisbury Mayor
@jacobrday
announced this morning that he will soon deploy overseas with the
@MDNG
. Our prayers and full support go to Captain Day and his family, and on behalf of all Marylanders, we thank him for his service to our state and to our nation.
I will miss you so much, Salisbury. You will be in my heart for the entire deployment. I will be back. We will continue our ascent. Love you all.

Tonight I was proud to represent Governor Moore, Lieutenant Governor Miller, & the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development at the ribbon cutting for Squeaky’s at the Washington Inn & Tavern in Princess Anne. Dinner was delicious!!

“A roof over your head makes you feel human again.” The words of one resident of Sojourner Place in East Baltimore so perfectly capture why permanent supportive housing is fundamental to solving homelessness. Bravo Baltimore, HUD, & all involved

Today we joined the General Assembly in an overwhelming and nearly unanimous showing of dozens of different voices supporting the Governor’s bills to expand housing and protect vulnerable renters

I have said it when we had racists showing up in the halls of Salisbury University. I’ll say it to bigots of any stripe: this town ain’t for you. Get out. Now.
Another weekend, another round of homophobes/transphobes trying to cyber bully me on a post promoting our 6 p.m. show 🙄 Whatever, I’m just here to read the news 🤷🏻 See y’all at 10 and 11!
It would have been so easy to let this moment exist without capturing it. Thank you Stephen DiCarlo for thinking to capture it so we can remember how sweet the reunion was. ❤️
I’ve been so proud of so many mayors during the
#COVID19
crisis. As busy as we all are - I’m doubly impressed by the

of
@usmayors
President
@MayorBarnett
taking time to write a handwritten note to fellow mayors-all while protecting & informing his constituents. Bravo!
Teams are a beautiful thing. Their composition + dynamics require a great degree of thought + a delicate touch.
@GovWesMoore
,
@LtGovMiller
+ Sec Edwards have demonstrated mastery of team-building. Im so lucky to work with these people!
I wasn’t the fastest. And I only ran as far as everyone else. But I hope I won the superlative of having run the farthest from the finish line.

I am so thankful for the hard work the

talented team & others have put into the 3 Governor’s Housing bills and our 10 other important bills. Our work isn’t done yet but we will succeed thanks to your tenacity and collective wisdom.
The Ironman. Cal Ripken, Jr. An unstoppable force. A guy who never quit and showed up every game, 500 games past the record. A lesson for all of us. And humble, when surrounded by Brooks Robinson, Mike Bordick, and Ryan Ripken. Proud that MD DHCD gets to partner with you!

Huge congrats to
@jacobrday
on being named the incoming Secretary of Housing and Community Development.
Mayor Day has been a visionary, outside-the-box thinker on housing issues at the local level. I couldn’t be more excited to see what he can accomplish in this new role.
Happy Veterans Day to all my brothers and sisters. Thanks for all you do. Thanks for all you give up. And to those I went with and those I worked with: miss you all. Be safe. Exceed the standard.
About halfway through today’s Salisbury Christmas parade, I had a little girl run up to me in tears. Daddy’s little girl wanted a shoulder ride. I had to indulge.

My dear friend and fellow veteran
@jacobrday
surprised me with a Smith Island Cake for my birthday!
Today and throughout our campaign, people have told me I spend a lot of time on the Eastern Shore.
That’s right. They’re a core part of our mission to leave no one behind.

My heart hurts for Executive Culver and his family as he weathers this terrible storm. I know he will face them bravely, with chin up, wearing that wry smile that lets you know he means business. Bob, I’m sending you my sincerest wishes for a speedy, pain-free, complete recovery.
I’m so proud of the team we have built at
@MDHousing
. From broadband to finance, economic mobility to homelessness, we will lead boldly & wisely. The new Division of Homeless Solutions reflects a major increase in our effort to reduce homelessness.
“If I Were Mayor…” is such a powerful exercise in teaching our young citizens about the power of local, municipal government to influence lives of Marylanders for the better. Congratulations to the 11 winners from all over our beautiful state!

Restoring justice isn’t a single act. It isn’t only alteration or removal of symbols or erection of new symbols. It’s not only a policy or program. It’s changing how we look at everything. I was lucky to receive coaching and fellowship from the best mentors and peers out there.
Over the last 10 years, Maryland has significantly underproduced housing which has added to this shortage at a rate of 5,600 units per year on average. The supply shortage also makes it difficult for Marylanders to become homeowners. -
