Happy birthday, Maryland. The last few weeks have been difficult for our state as we mourn the loss of 6 Marylanders who died when the Key Bridge collapsed. Every day, we're continuing to work to support our workers and businesses and take care of those affected by this crisis.

Policies shape our lives. Whether we’re talking about housing, transportation, education, or criminal justice, we must protect voting rights to ensure that people can decide for themselves who will shape these policies and improve their lives.

ICYMI: Yesterday, we signed legislation to make our state more affordable. We enacted the most aggressive housing package in recent Maryland history -- because you cannot have a growing and thriving state if people can’t afford to live here.

The collapse of the Key Bridge is not just an emergency for Maryland — it’s an emergency for our nation’s economy. Maryland is calling on Congress to put partnership over partisanship and work with us to help fully reopen our Port and rebuild the Bridge.

The collapse of the Key Bridge is not just about Maryland's economy – it's about our entire nation's economy. Congress has a tradition of bipartisan cooperation in the wake of disaster. We need broad congressional support to reopen the Port and rebuild this bridge.
