Took a bus home. No shelter, but it's one of the nicest bus stop signs I've seen anywhere. Tells you very clearly which buses stop here and some major stops along their routes. And no parking is allowed on the bus stop. San Francisco has much to learn.

My least favorite thing about Metrobus is that every person boarding has to tell the bus driver their destination so the driver can determine whether to charge them 9, 10, or 11 cents. Is the extra 2 cents really worth delaying everyone and preventing all-door boarding?

@paulg Wealth also compounds. 2% is less than the longterm inflation adjusted returns of the S&P 500 index. Your analysis is very misleading, since a person with $50M will end up with much more than $50M at the end of their life, even adjusted for inflation, even after a 2% wealth tax.

@JeroenFrijters Everyone criticizing the code for not being 1337 enough is missing the bigger picture: its output is wrong. It will output a full progress bar when it's just over 90% done, which is dangerous from a user perspective - what if the user quits the app at 91%, assuming it's done?

@jduffyrice @K__Breeeezy @jakestrikesout @nickpwing @mattyglesias Um, the chance of death increases by 5x if someone is struck at 23mph vs 42mph: Whereas you'll save... well, probably close to 0 time, since all you're likely to accomplish is getting to the next red light sooner.

Do Argentinians not realize that when Milei deregulates the beef industry, most of the beef they produce will be exported? Most Argentinians won't be able to afford to eat steak anymore!

This is so fucking stupid. We're in a climate crisis. People WANT to live and work in cities. People WANT to take public transit. Yet we push jobs and people out of cities, and cheer when tech companies leave SF. Yea let's have techies drive to work instead, that'll show them!

@mrose1965 If that makes you mad, check out the subsidies the rich get. This mansion gets a $134,000 subsidy each year. The taxes they pay don't even pay for the government services they use - the poor make up the difference via sales / income tax.
