I have a variant of this ... an explicit ‘do over’ policy on the syllabus. Students can redo an assignment of their choosing any time before the end of the semester. That includes for a zero grade where life just got in the way. Relieves some stress.
The Handbook of Agricultural Economics, vol. 5, is now published! An absolute all-star roster of authors span 10 chapters and >800 pages defining current key research frontiers in the field. And look for volume 6 in summer 2022 (chapters now in review).
Editor's tip for young researchers: don't cut and paste long passages from your other papers. Most journals use some plagiarism detection software that immediately flags your paper and shows us exactly what is replicated. If an editor has to go check for flagrant plagiarism, 1/2
Students, you don’t want me and other older white guys choosing the music you listen to, the food you eat, or the clothes you wear tomorrow. Why would you want us to choose your government for the next two or four years, with far more lasting effects? Register to vote. Then VOTE!
The administrations at Harvard -firing hourly wage employees - and Yale - denying housing to first responders - have shown little interest in supporting their communities. Local and state governments should and will remember this clearly when they revisit tax exemption policies.
