This tweet is for all those that are still warning others, those still protecting the vulnerable, and still masking. Thank you all for your advocacy and doing the right thing, even when it is not popular to do so

@BelugaWooz
I’m very glad she was open to trying a higher grade mask. Sometimes people are very resistant to giving up their blue surgicals even when better options are available
I need to vent - I always state my boundaries when it comes to masking and not eating indoors. I found out a few people that I’ve known over 20 years are meeting up behind my back. Given what I’ve seen with my late grandmother’s LTC and ongoing COVID outbreaks,
I work 5 days a week in person because my job requires me to do so. I have a respirator and air purifier at my workspace. Guess what? I have had only 1 infection the past 4 years. So yeah, there are ways to reduce infections. The more infections you have, the higher chance of LC
I know I am doing the right thing by staying safe because I know the reality of what COVID does and the harm it brings. It’s never easy but the pandemic has ripped off a lot of people’s “mask”. I now know who they will thrown under the bus for the sake of normalcy. I am tired.
@Lidsville
Makes me extremely confused when one stands for progressive values and equity but not mask indoors. The pandemic has revealed who the true progressives are
@DebHolloway
I love how they want their cake and eat it too. “I don’t want to wear a mask” to “why are people not working and showing up sick so I can get brunch”
@sofipapamarko
@CailinasEirinn
I’m annoyed I have to be in full PPE to see my loved one in LTC and yet I see full arenas with no masks shoulder to shoulder. And we wonder why cases are on the rise. What a slap in the face for all those that have done so much these last two years, esp HCWs
@Gray_Mackenzie
For every dollar invested in child care, the gov gets more than a dollar back in tax revenue when women are able to go to work. Recovery for women is important when child care is prioritized. Canceling childcare is short sighted.
@BlairWilliams26
The Covid careful have extra subconscious drives which let them go against the herd. Trauma, personal experience of serious illness, medical and scientific knowledge, compassion, ethics and critical thinking.
@MeetJess
I was wearing my Breathe respirator and met a staff at the LTC that I haven’t seen before. They asked me to remove it and replace it with a surgical - cause the respirator would “scare people”. Communication on masks and respirators have failed badly.
@JohnBrownsBody2
I love this thread. If we all had accepted this new normal, instead of being forced back to pre-pandemic life, we would have had this COVID crisis under control
@MeetJess
I remember there was a photo going around here that was mocking 4-5 leaders that were the only ones masked. I don’t know how people not realize we are STILL IN A PANDEMIC
@DrKGregorevic
One my grandmother’s LTC resident returned from the hospital, starting an COVID outbreak on the entire floor which means they’re all locked in their rooms 24/7 with meals delivered. I’ll make sure to pass on your message to them.
@jwpnfld
Their version of “return to normal” is a normalization of eugenics policies. The interesting thing people fail to understand is even if you belong to the healthy group, contracting COVID and getting long COVID outs you into the latter group of the vulnerable

There was a thread here about how no fault divorces were saving grace, a lot of marriages back then ended up with the wife murdering the abusive husband discreetly. So many people sharing stories - it’s absolutely heartbreaking
@makeupartist524
the pandemic has revealed - a person’s stated values are completely different then their actual values. They can say they’re pro-worker, pro-diversity, anti-racist etc but can be ableist in their actions

@DFisman
@p4TruthMedia
I’m disappointed and in rage that we have let this get so far but most importantly that money and politics came before science and human lives
@brownecfm
I miss people caring for each other - and the ease that one does not have to assess risk when meeting people or doing a simple task of grocery shopping. Or maybe it was all a performative process humans had for each other - pretending that we did care for each other
@ianhanomansing
American style healthcare does not work - number one reason for bankruptcy is medical bills. We do not want that here in Canada. I will say it again - publicly funded health care is needed
@AmyTanMD
Tbh, people don’t understand until they’ve been through the healthcare system. I was admitted into the ER twice and ended up having emergency surgery to save my life. People don’t get it until they’re in a hospital.
@mfarooq45
@OttawaPolice
Thank you for sharing. I can’t imagine if someone with a disability or is a smaller stature or a woman with children walking by and not being harassed.
@birgitomo
We live in hell
#onpoli
I want off this planet. I cannot believe people voted for privatization and 4500+ dead in LTC. I cannot believe it. I hate it here.
@kadamssl
Thank you for this thread. I also am reading/hearing stories from women (not just with LC but with chronic illnesses) being abandoned by their partner and families once they can no longer fulfill their caretaker roles and responsibilities which is double the negative impact
@jubunnies
I have no more patience - my grandmother passed this week and even though she passed peacefully, at the back of my mind, the suspicion that her possible 2nd asymptomatic C19 infection could have played a role because she was forced to isolate with her C19 positive roommate
@goldribbons1606
@MK_Works
@Neilcha38254873
I have seniors voting for him after 4500+ died in horrid conditions that the military had PTSD after going into the homes. Like people are boring for their lives to be shortened and for their jobs to be cut
@MeetJess
@TimHortons
A lot of restaurants on reddits are also forcing their staff to work - hence I haven’t indoor dined since 2019. I don’t want a side of COVID with my salad and fries.
@GaloresCircus
People won’t do the right thing unless mandated, people will go shopping if they cab step over someone’s dead body, and people don’t like to be inconvenienced
@CBCQueensPark
@adamsmiller
@CBCNews
Nope - we severely undertested, under reported & pushing the myth of hybrid immunity. My workplace colleagues that have been sick with COVID multiple times. They don’t test & they shrug it off because they’ve been told it’s “nothing”. After they’re sick, they have lingering issue
@picardonhealth
@reggcohn
@TorontoStar
Nope - when valid criticism is brought up - it’s is not trolling. I’m sorry but it’s been 3 years. Masks do work and playing centrist in a pandemic kills and disabled people.
@GiaAnnJohns
@Greyseeker
If you’re fired or quit, you don’t qualify for EI (I’m part of a union and my employer has mandated vaccines - union lawyer confirmed you don’t get EI)
@SunilSarwal
It started with Covid and now that they’ve normalize COVID’s seriousness and mass disabling death - they’ve applied the same normalization to everything else
@aggie_panda
Seeing how society treats the vulnerable: seniors, people with disabilities, children, etc you don’t want to get long COVID. It’s like HIV except HIV is spread thru bodily fluids but COVID is airborne. When you suffer chronically - no one cares and they don’t understand the pain
@chronicallybeee
Same - if COVID were to disappear tmr, I cannot look at the people the same. The eugenics vibe (whether explicit or implicit) is too strong for me to ignore
@MLS_Dave
Thank you for saying this. I’m so worried of killing my parents and my grandparents that I always mask. I don’t think I can live with the guilt if I killed them
@JasonM98282978
I mentioned my grandmother’s LTC home has several deaths due to a superspreader- a relative said “they were old” - this pandemic has really revealed peoples true colours
@Mikeggibbs
If I can’t see my grandmother in a LTC home and she is locked down for a month in her room (in solitary confinement) no one deserves to go see a movie or dine in at a bar or go to a full capacity hockey game
@brownecfm
A mixture of bad public health communication with disinformation being spread by our oligarchs, has people thinking that masks don’t work. They do work, unfortunately by the time people find out, it will be too late to undo the damage C19 has caused
@CBCAlerts
@LisaYaxiXing
We better watch here in Canada with the CPC and Conservative parties at the provincial level. Don’t think it won’t happen here. There are strong forces and funding from religious groups and social conservatives
