There are vegetables with small amounts of naturally occurring nicotine. And eating them can help prevent Parkinsonโs disease.

And thatโs just the famous ones, the people who get articles written about them. There are lots of ordinary people dying like this every day.

A few months ago I got a prescription that BCBS listed on the EOB at $466.27. When I needed a refill earlier than they were willing to pay for one I nervously asked what the cash price was. The pharmacist checked and it was $16. Sixteen damn dollars. Insurance is a helluva scam.

My FIL is in his late 70s with multiple health issues, including asthma. Some of them from being exposed to agent orange in Vietnam. Pre-COVID he wore a mask whenever he had to do yard work. Surely those little brats can wear one indoors, sitting at a desk. ๐
@TRyanGregory
โTwo groups of workers are yet to come back in earnest, those aged 20-24 and those over 65 years,โ
Why do they expect so many over 65 to keep working, especially considering how theyโre more vulnerable to COVID? ๐

@TheEconomist
True. Also public services are not supposed to make a profit.
Who do we go after next? National Parks? Dammit, the slackers at the Grand Canyon didnโt meet their tourist quota last quarter, time to fire some folks.

They cut off all dependents 17 and up so even high school kids are left out. Kids, college students, disabled and elderly family members - so many left behind again and again. This needs to be corrected in the next bill.

My kidโs not even 18 year and has already lived through two recessions. He has no interest in capitalism and went straight to communism.

This would be bad in peak tornado season, a beast of this magnitude in winter is extra scary. We can look forward to more of these unless we take drastic action to mitigate the climate crisis.

๐ฏ I registered as a Democrat the same month I turned 18. Last month I changed my voter registration to independent. After almost 30 years of hoping things would get better I canโt be part of their depravity anymore.

Nazis called disabled people โuseless eatersโ. Apparently this is now our countryโs COVID policy too. Disgusting doesnโt being to express my thoughts on this.

The video will be shared relentlessly when itโs released and will be traumatizing for many. Just a reminder you can turn off video autoplay so you donโt have to watch it over and over.
Settings -> accessibility -> data usage -> video autoplay

Meanwhile Schumer needs to be threatening to kick their butts off committees, support primary challenges, etc.
This is an all hands on deck moment and any Democratic leader not using all their power to move the needle is betraying their real view on the reconciliation bill.

I love the built in spice racks in my kitchen but the design makes it impossible to see the labels so I printed stickers for them. After yrs of frustration I am so glad I finally did this, it makes cooking easier, helpful w/ my ADHD. Need new stickers for recent purchases tho.
Here is Pete Buttigieg's answer when pressed on why black people in South Bend were four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than a white resident.
He tried to explain it by saying there was some type of scourge of gang violence in South Bend.

The world pays attention to protest when those who benefit from the system stand with those oppressed by it. Which makes the system nervous so they do their best to sow division. Solidarity is how we win.

I saw a woman at the grocery store yesterday wearing a KN95 mask but she kept pulling it down to scratch her nose. Bet she proudly tells people sheโs a good mask wearer. Thatโs why I donโt necessarily trust people who claim to wear a mask and yet they get COVID.

Libs canโt help themselves. The trope of Chicago being overrun by gun violence is racist, being pro genocide in Gaza is racist. That tweet from 2016 still relevant.
Lou Holtz tells Fox News that college football needs to play amid coronavirus pandemic this fall: "Let's move on with our life! When they stormed Normandy, they knew there were going to be casualties -- there were going to be risks."

I grew up with an abusive dad who yelled constantly, men angrily yelling is definitely a trigger for me. Someone speaking loudly and passionately about injustice like Bernie does is not upsetting to me at all.

Iโm glad there is at least some openness about it. If more famous people would be honest about their struggles with long COVID it might draw more attention to it.

Educators got about half of what they asked for. This doesn't make up for 10 years without a raise and years of cuts to education funding.

Replace Wallace with Trump in this piece, update the details, and he could easily be talking about the 2016 election. The fact that modern neoliberals still donโt get it is not surprising unfortunately.

The liberals & โleftistsโ going along with this mass death & disabling event always make me think of the quote from Naomi Shulman about how nice people made the best nazis. The ones who refused to make waves, who looked the other way as atrocities were happening all around them.

Itโs funny how many of these people are jumping on the trend without understanding its origins in the Bernie rally on Saturday. Welcome to the revolution, blue checks. โ
Despite the CDCโs federal eviction moratorium, thousands of people are still at risk of being evicted due to loopholes in policy and misinformation.

They added a donation goal they have to keep updating. Blew right past $3000, then $5000, $10,000, and now itโs at $20,000. Every time the goal is reached they play a Bernie gif.

Joe Biden & his good friend Strom Thurmond pushed these policies back in the 80s, introducing civil asset forfeiture laws that expanded the powers to state & local cops, among other things. And they can take a lot more than the contents of your wallet.

I had no idea things like the flu were airborne, or even truly what โairborneโ meant. Health departments & doctors all told us to wash our hands & cover coughs/sneezes every flu season & I naively thought they were giving us the full story.
Now I know better so I do better.

$65,000 is too low for the ceiling on this, just keep it simple and make universal. Lots of families in areas with high cost of living (like California) will be left out and they will truly need this help.

Richer people, especially in red states, are both more likely to vote and to vote for Republicans. So the people suffering under these policies arenโt typically voting for the politicians responsible. Itโs an old myth that needs to die.

Here ya go, from his โBeyond Vietnamโ speech in 1967. Rev. Dr. King was reviled for speaking the truth, especially by those in power. Apparently he was only supposed to desegregate lunch counters and help people vote, not speak out against illegal and unethical wars
@t_NYC
His behavior wrt COVID for most of the last year+ has been indistinguishable from republicans, vaxxed but otherwise a minimizer. That plus his early endorsement of Biden and refusal to call for a ceasefire has destroyed all of my respect for him.
