What a beautiful day in Amherst! The sun was shining bright and the town and its citizens came out to wish me well as I said farewell to Nova Scotia. Tonight I am resting in Bangor, Maine before continuing on my way to Boston.

On 6 December 1917, two ships collided in Halifax Harbour, causing a devastating explosion. It killed nearly 2,000 people and left hundreds severely injured and homeless.
