@HSBC
Happy??
Life sentence for promoting democracy?
Will you now oppose the subjugation you also wilfully supported?
BBC News - Hong Kong security law: Life sentences for breaking China-imposed law
#StandWithHongKong
I am delighted to sponsor EDM
#616
on China's new National Security Law for Hong Kong.
The UK has an obligation to stand up for the rights of those in HK. We cannot turn our face away.
#StandWithHongKong
#FastTrackHongKongBill
This is a major moment in China-Western relations.
There must be a united effort among democratic nations to stand against this breach of the agreement on how HK should be treated.
"China’s decision to impose the new national security law on Hong Kong lies in direct conflict with its international obligations under the principles of the legally-binding, UN-registered Sino-British Joint Declaration."
Joint Statement from 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇨🇦🇺🇸 on Hong Kong
Foreign Sec. will be making an statement to the House this morning on Hong Kong. I would want to hear of a strong and determined response from the Government. We cannot allow BNO or anyone in HK to have their freedoms curtailed as Gov of China is proposing.
#StandWithHK
There will be two government oral statements in the
@HouseofCommons
tomorrow. Firstly,
@DominicRaab
will provide an update on Hong Kong National Security Legislation and the UK response
Good news for
#HongKongers
. BNOs will be able to apply for 30 month visa to live in the UK from inside the UK.
They will not have to go back to Hong Kong where they might face persecution by the Chinese Government.
#StandWithHongKong
They preach respect. Yet they offer none. They talk of reconciliation. Yet they insult and mock victims. They show absolutely no remorse, but rather glorify and revel in the evil inflicted on the people of Northern Ireland.
Vile.
@StanChart
@LFC
Will you also
#StandWithHongKong
and reverse your support for repressive laws against Hong Kong?
Well done
@LFC
. What a season... So far🏆 Will you be ultimate champions by standing up for freedom in HK?
This man seems to have went missing, maybe blinded by the light on the ‘bright side of the road’.
If he thinks that by staying silent people will forget what he has done, he has another thing coming. No more lectures from Mr O Muilleoir on respect.
No better than McElduff.
So what’s the conclusion to be drawn here? That the propensity of some Republicans toward violence should dictate the outcome of negotiations? That the integrity of the U.K. should be compromised to appease them? All democrats should stand against such threats, not promote them.
Taoiseach
@campaignforleo
has told EU leaders that concerns about the re-emergence of a hard border in Ireland and the possibility of a return to violence are "very real".
When nationalist/republican politicians talk of respect and accuse unionism of being sectarian, remember tonight’s vote in NMDD Council, that keeps the name of an IRA terrorist on a play park in Newry.
They revel in glorifying terror and insulting victims. Absolutely disgusting.
The unionist outreach continues I see. Utter nonsense. The more interesting questions are surely for funders of the GAA, who masquerade as a sporting organisation yet their core ethos is political. Even now SF want more public funding prioritised for Casement Park.
#SFhypocrisy
The Orange Order receives millions of pounds of public money in one guise or another claiming to be a cultural body. I can think of no other ‘cultural body’ which is so heavily involved in politics & is still publicly funded. Funders must clarify It’s either one or the other ?
Remembering Corporals Derek Wood and David Howes, killed by Republican savages on this day 30 years ago.
It is worth watching the BBC report to remind ourselves of the blood thirst of the animals who descended on the soldiers car.
Pure unadulterated evil.
The Northern Ireland Protocol is set to tear apart Northern Ireland from the rest of the United Kingdom. It needs to be changed. Soon Parliament may well do just that, securing equal trading rights for all areas of the United Kingdom.
Sinn Fein President
@MaryLouMcDonald
tells me, "I'm sick listening to
@BorisJohnson
and others giving loud wingey opinions about a country in which they do not live and about matters which they have never been constructive in moving forward."
#Brexit
Powerful protest image by the Cliftonville team. Through their ignorance and arrogance, the Irish FA now have a problem that could and should’ve been easily avoided.
Who is going to riot? Who is going to engage in violence? Surely not Republicans? Surely not the same people who extol the virtues of integrity and respect?
Shameful threats from a party that loses more and more credibility by the day.
Really? How about a party with convicted terrorists? Kelly, Anderson, Ni Chulin, Sheehan, McCann. Surely you don’t get much more supremacist than “active service” in an organisation that decides who lives or dies, or what town is blown to bits or not?
#perspectivefail
Arlene & the crocodile Irish
Peter & the Muslims
Sammy & the poofs
Paul & the Liofa kids
It’s hard to think of a party as defined by narrow, exclusive, sectarian & fundamentally supremacist attitudes as the DUP remain. Arlene Foster remains frighteningly devoid of self-awareness
Over the last year SF antics emboldened unionist resolve that enough is enough. The Kingsmill tweet, IRA glorification, “up the rebels” “proud IRA” speeches, insults to Royals & the flag just some examples.
You almost think they don’t want a deal but want someone else to blame
The days of nationalists and republicans like Colum threatening our political process if they don’t get their way must be over. If people want to know why a sustainable deal can’t be reached right now, Colum’s comments encapsulate the problem.
Another solo run by Martina Anderson. I wonder does her definition of “extreme” include justifying the disappeared, planting a bomb on Arlene Foster’s school bus, shooting police officers or sending letter bombs?
Well done
@carlalockhart
for speaking out. The level of personal invective hurled at you,
@DUPleader
and indeed many other female public figures is totally unacceptable. Time to act is now!
Another insight into the minds of some republicans.
Disgusting. Depraved. Driven by sectarianism and hatred. Just like those who murdered Willie’s father.
I see SF is condemning this bonfire - that is welcome. But will they condemn the murder of Willie’s father too?
The problem for SF Leadership is this. Their continued promotion, support and attendance at IRA glorification events means they are no better than McElduff and O’Muilleor. They have no moral high ground. Even if McElduff is sacrificed, the challenge for SF is clear.
Letter re NIO ban of portrait of Her Majesty The Queen ▶️ offensive & disrespectful ▶️ outworking of “equality” agenda at heart of 98 Agreement ▶️ those demanding “rights, respect & recognition” for Irish seek to remove British identity in NI
The humility, grace and faith of Daniel and Amy McArthur has shone through as they have been cast into the media spotlight in recent years. Delighted for them today.

#SupportAshers
Earlier in the evening journalists report that rapturous applause rang out when it was said Martin McGuinness was a proud member of the IRA. When they celebrate and glorify terrorism against my community, it shows how hollow these words are.
.
@GerryAdamsSF
delivering his Presidential Address to a packed hall and says "We have to persuade our unionist neighbours to support a new and agreed Ireland in which Orange and Green can live together in prosperity and harmony."
Thank you to the 15,149 constituents who voted for me. I am humbled by your continued support. I know the job ahead and I will continue to deliver for South Antrim.
Motivated purely by the hatred of their neighbours because of their religion. And sadly these sectarian butchers and their cheerleaders take pride in their actions to this day

#OnThisDay
in 1977 the IRA murdered Douglas Deering, 52. Married father of 3. Last Protestant shopkeeper in Rosslea. Shop bombed x4 previously. Attended Brethren Assembly across border, Clones. 1 of many Protestants particularly business&land owners targeted in border areas
#OTD
Serious issues to be addressed by the senior teams in BA and IAG. BA stated at the beginning of COVID-19 that they had £billions in reserve yet staff have taken a sharp hit as IAG slow actions have come back to bite.
.
@PaulGirvanMP
of DUP has put his name to the slots pledge - Thanks Paul, another MP that understands the importance of consequences to actions. BA were briefed of the risks well over a month ago and have the power to stop this.
#BorisAct
Good to be in Antrim last night along with Danny K for the United Unionists Antrim meeting. Overwhelming support for Unionists to stand together. Clear message - get registered to vote and make your voice heard!
Absolute nonsense as usual from SF. While DUP deliver £410m extra for NI, keep childcare voucher scheme open, progress APD and Tourism VAT issue and keep Small Business Rates Relief in place, what has Chris achieved as MP? He has named his office after terrorists. Says it all.
Asked by a student in London yesterday - What gives these 9 well-fed men from Ireland the right to take meals off hungry school children in Britain?! Sin é
Just for clarity for the BBC and anyone else confused about this... Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. And what more this part of the world has been for over 200 years!
Next week... Putting the Russian flag on a map of Crimea. Keep up BBC. 🤦♂️
At 0811 a graphic was used by
@BBCBreakfast
wrongly representing NI with an RoI flag.
North Antrim MP Ian Paisley emailed the Director General & demanded an immediate apology.
The apology (below) at 0858 is welcome but disgraceful that it had to be highlighted.
Former Labour NI SoS Shaun Woodward tells
@BBCTalkback
NI politics now in “major crisis” - says NI could see a “return to violence” and adds Theresa May’s deal with DUP last June was a “catastrophic error”
For the life of me I do not understand why more Conservative Unionists in Ni are not out banging the drum for John Major, Anna Soubry and Dominic Grieve. These are now the Unionists trying to save Ni from disastrous polarisation and decent Unionists in Ni should be backing them.
The hatred of our Orange culture and identity as displayed in Randalstown on Sunday evening cannot go unchallenged and must be investigated by the PSNI. Time for everyone to stand up against sectarianism.
“With Varadkar’s connivance, Brussels weaponised the Northern Irish border – and with it the peace process – to lock the UK into a customs union and a colonial status in which we would have to follow EU laws.”
Congratulations to Alex Easton MLA &
@PamCameronMLA
for their motion in the Assembly today calling for Finn's Law to be law in Northern Ireland, allowing for longer jail terms for those who attack service animals.
The Stand Up Against Sectarianism Champion is back on his soap box peddling the same old delusion. What Declan doesn’t seem to understand is that when he says no return to the status quo, unionism demands the same. Things have indeed changed utterly.
An extra £660m for NI in what will be a real boost to our public spending. Stamp duty for first time buyers not applicable to houses under £300,000, meaning nearly all first time buyers will save thousands when they buy their first home. A good day.

Lots of pontificating and faux outrage about choice of language in recent days. Maybe no coincidence that this act of hate happened the same day as Sinn Fein declare the U.K. Government as the “main conflict protagonists”, citing the presence of troops in Northern Ireland.
Utterly shocked, saddened and appalled to learn that the poppy crosses, poppy wreaths and floral tributes at Narrow Water have once again been destroyed over night - Less than 3 weeks following its previous desecration.
We WILL Remember Them 🖤
Whenever you attack someone on their appearance you have lost the argument already. Thank you to those who have voiced support, who can disagree on ideology but do so respectfully.

Another slap in the face of those genuinely hurt by the vile antics of McElduff and O Muilleor. SF “leadership” showing their ambivalence to sectarianism. Kearney’s talk of reconciliation, sensitivity and healing proved hollow once again. They have no shame.
What a difference a day makes! Busy day with events in Mossley, Randalstown and Ballyclare. Some postering in between and a very welcome mug of tea in The Hub in Straid - check it out. Thanks also to the teams out in Ballycraigy and Ballyduff ☂️

Great to see Chief Medical Officer for England back at the Daily Coronavirus Briefing from No10 after his spell with COVID-19. Welcome back Prof. Chris Whitty.
Maybe he’s looking for that budget he never published? Surely someone can find him? Maybe some of the local media could track him down? Serious questions to answer - any journalists willing to find him and ask them?
Has anyone seen Mr O’Muilleoir? Not normally a shy, retiring type and always first to attack Unionists with his supposed respect agenda!

Hosting a really good engagement session with Principals from across South Antrim with Department of Education Permanent Secretary, Derek Baker. Huge challenges ahead in education but the passion and commitment of Principals for the best outcome for children is clear.
The DUP will take no lectures from those who place an Irish Language Act over the needs of the sick, those in poverty, our education system, local business, attracting investment etc. If you really care Michelle - see you at Stormont tomorrow.
Response from Ulster Council is deeply disappointing. Are events that glorify terrorism acceptable in GAA facilities? Yes or No? Time for the moderates and progressives in the GAA to stand up
#standupagainstsectarianism
Good to stand with the fantastic
@AutismNIPAPA
in calling for Mandatory Autism Training for all teaching staff. 1 in 30 children are being diagnosed with autism - vital they are supported to achieve best educational outcome
#AutismAwareness
Really powerful testimonies of believers from Egypt and Pakistan at
@OpenDoorsUK
event in Westminster. In the face of such hostility and harassment the strength of their faith is truly humbling. We must do more to help.
Important that the SF myth of inequality and discrimination peddled to American audiences in recent days is challenged. Time to share the truth about SF intransigence, their glorification of terrorism and their contempt for victims.
Disappointed to hear of a fish kill on the Three Mile Water. Trusting the NIEA will be able to identify the source, to prevent this from happening again.
The proposed closure of Ulster Bank in Ballyclare is deeply disappointing. Valuable asset in town for personal and business customers. I have made my views known to bank and will meet them in the coming weeks to urge reconsideration.
