When Brian Cox was a Guest Programmer he told us no matter how many Emmys he wins or other accolades, being a Guest Programmer was the thing he was most proud of. He was so gracious and happy to be there. It was a wonderful afternoon.
What’s the funniest joke in the history of television? Has to be a single joke/gag don’t come here detailing entire episodes and story arcs. “Dead dove do not eat” type of stuff.
As a TCM viewer first, I've admired Christian Hammann's work for years. She is one of the best storytellers I've had the privilege of working with. Many moons ago, she produced this Jean Harlow piece that I remember recording and watching over and over again.
Help me out, classic movie Twitter! For the wedding, I'm putting together a video of classic movie kisses that will be projected on a wall at the venue. What are your favorite classic movie kisses I should add to this?
My earliest memory of Stanley Donen is him talking about Audrey Hepburn in a documentary about Hollywood fashion. He quoted Billy Wilder saying, “What Audrey had, you can’t learn and you can’t teach. God kissed her on the cheek and there she was.”
During WWII, Hattie McDaniel served as chairman of the Negro Division of the Hollywood Victory Committee, providing entertainment for soldiers stationed at military bases. Bette Davis was the only white member of McDaniel's acting troupe to perform for black regiments.
Since TCM went on the air 26 years ago, we have never repeated a solo host intro to a film. Ever. These home shoots the studio team are producing aren’t easy but you would never know it by how great they look. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Audrey Hepburn was born on this day 90 years ago. It sounds cheesy and dramatic but no other artist has had such a profound impact on my life. Read something about her because she’s truly everything and I’m so glad she existed.
Outside of classic film twitter, I don't think Barbara Stanwyck is as celebrated as she should be and that makes me sad. Her career went on for so long and she nailed every genre with ease. I'm constantly in awe of her talent.
To get around the censors, Alfred Hitchcock purposely broke up the memorable kissing scene in NOTORIOUS ('46) by having Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman discuss food, move about the apartment, and talk on the phone.
See the film next month on February 5th at 8pm ET.
Forever grateful to Millie for creating a space to discover and enjoy the weird and wonderful. The final film airing is Plan 9 From Outer Space, the first film to air on Underground in October of 2006.
Colin Farrell is a huge fan of John Garfield, Austin Butler said he was raised on Robert Osborne, Jenny Slate gushed over Brigadoon and I bonded over William Holden with Guillermo del Toro. TCM at the Oscars luncheon was the stuff dreams are made of. Social pieces coming soon.
Angela Lansbury appears in Dear Heart in the second act and for about ten minutes, but she makes the most of that short screen time stealing the film with her scene.
I really love and appreciate today's Google Doodle in honor of Desi Arnaz who was a true pioneer that doesn't get the credit he deserves. This is a wonderful collage highlighting his career. He was born on this day in 1917.
This Judy Garland image piece from when she was Star of the Month in 2018 is one of my favorite promos we've produced.
@iamdavidbyrne
captured what made her a special, singular talent.
"For me, acting is not an all-consuming thing, except for the moment when I am actually doing it."
Cheers to my dude, William Holden, who was born on this day in 1918.
Her 2012 TCM Remembers is one of my favorites. The concept of using a drive-in to showcase the stars in the stars, the emotional buildup with the music, the way it lets you take a moment to grieve the talent we lost.
It's beautifully heartfelt:
The first film to air that night TCM debuted was GONE WITH THE WIND ('39), Ted Turner's favorite. Here is Robert Osborne's introduction from that night.
The film was followed by SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, THE PETRIFIED FOREST and CAT PEOPLE.
Eric Von Stroheim gives Gloria Swanson a sweet kiss on the hand in this photo on the set of Sunset Boulevard. I love photos from the set of this film. You could tell there was genuine respect for Miss Swanson and her talent.

Every time I watch Sunset Boulevard, I’m always struck by its writing. It’s one of the best scripts ever written. What are your other favorite Billy Wilder scripts and why?
In a puddle after CASABLANCA on the big screen. I’ve seen it before in a theater but at the TCL Imax and with this special crowd? Truly nothing better.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the crew did an incredible job putting their own spin on this for the modern audience. This is from 2009 and because of music rights, it's very hard to find.
I love this spotlight Hollywood Hair Hall of Fame. Hairstyling is an art. Betty Grable's styles defied logic in the 1940s. Simply stunning.

Happy May! Not only did
@TCM
bless us with Paul Newman as Star of the Month but there are a few William Holden movies, too.
Our Town on May 3rd
Sabrina on May 26
The Bridge on the River Kwai on May 27
Christian has a unique eye and ear. She captures great emotions in the tiniest moments and has the best music taste. This 2020 October This Month On spot you'll remember well for these reasons.
Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine with director William Wyler on the set of The Children’s Hour. Wyler directed Hepburn in Roman Holiday, her first leading role and they collaborated again in 1966 for How to Steal a Million.

Somehow I have avoided all details and plot points about the movie The Red Shoes so you can imagine my shock at watching it for the first time today. For some reason, I assumed it was a musical with childlike wonder like The Sound of Music surrounding these red shoes. 🤦🏻♀️
Singin' in the Rain premiered in New York on this day in 1952 and brought us the iconic Lina Lamont. I stand by my belief that Jean Hagen should have won the Oscar for her masterful comedic performance.
As a Latina, you have no idea how proud I am to be able to put this together to spotlight some of these amazing legends. Again -- can't get everyone in here, but I hope you seek out their stories. ♥️
From the silent era to today, Latinx and Hispanic performers have been a part of Hollywood. We honor their contributions to the film industry.

I'm so excited
@TCM
is airing the Humphrey Bogart horror movie The Return of Doctor X. I've been so intrigued by this film for years but have never seen it!
As an leader on our team, I've learned so much from her through her constructive and smart notes. And she's an even better friend. She caps off 19 years of creating her version of movie magic at TCM by reminding us to find the beauty and greatness in every moment. ♥️
