Great to so many Mayors of England join forces to help
@ExcludedUK
and
@ForgottenLtd
, including our own Sadiq Khan: We need more of this kind of thing.
NEW. Majority of Londoners (51%) think
#Sadiqkhan
has been a good Mayor (23% think "bad") and 47% say they support his 29 August

expansion plan compared with 32% opposed to it, according to

poll findings: ….

Claims of a "coalition" on London Assembly between Greens, LDs & Tories are very misleading. The Assembly is primarily a scrutiny body. What happened was a falling-out over allocation of committee chairs. All sides will have their own version of why. This is the Green group's.
Unmesh Desai has held City & East for Labour with a gigantic 125,025.
MAYOR: Khan 99,971. Bailey 58,145. Berry 13,616. Porritt 5,906.

Leonie Cooper has retained Merton & Wandsworth for Labour by nearly 15,000 votes.
MAYOR: Khan 76,403. Bailey 59,460. Berry 14,050. Porritt: 9,445.

Very good for SK.
Sadiq Khan's winning margin was 55.2%-44.8%=10.4.
Not as big as his win in 2016. Bigger than both of Boris Johnson's wins. Smaller than both of Ken Livingstone's wins (just). It was decisive.
NEW. Sadiq Khan calls for reopening of secondary schools to be delayed and use of military personnel to scale up national vaccination programme: .

Some serious thinking needs to be done about this situation. London's pavements are becoming places of hazard, anxiety and annoyance for too many people.
These dockless bikes need to be taken off the streets in London & only brought back when there are lockable docking stations installed off the pavement. They are not safe being left on the pavements, on pedestrian crossings and being left knocked over all across the city.
With a perverse tingle of excited satisfaction the sole director of On London Publishing Ltd has just paid corporation tax for the very first time. Thank you to everyone who has enabled this very small business to become liable for it.

Maybe cycling is unattractive to so many Londoners who might otherwise take it up because it is associated with a form of (sometimes aggressive) identity politics that puts them off - all those people who define themselves as "cyclists". There aren't such things as "busists"...
Comment: Londoners should give one of their mayoral votes to
#SadiqKhan
& neither to his Tory rival. But other candidates and/or their parties also merit consideration for Mayor and/or Assembly votes. They include
@LuisaPorritt
&

Not a great year for London's sustainable surface travel modes: bus service declining, pavements more perilous, cycling demographic still very small and narrow:

Funding is part of the problem but there are questions about priorities too.
Labour has gained West Central seat from the Tories, with James Small-Edwards defeating Tony Devenish. This is the first time Labour has won this Assembly constituency.

Now
@davidkurten
ask Mayor about proposals for making some streets in Central London car-free. What about taxis, important for the disabled, he points out. What about Kingsway, for example.

@TheLTDA
This was the most-read article on the website last week. It reports a small but less than ideal downward trend in London's bus speeds since we emerged from the pandemic: Now we have to think about how best to turn that trend around.

Anne Clarke retains Barnet & Camden for Labour by a tidy margin. A new AM on the block.

Sadiq Khan went to Ballymena today to see electric London buses being made and make a point about the capital's economy supporting the entire UK's:

Odd to see the Conservatives complaining about police station closures.... when it was Boris Johnson who started the closure programme.
My comments to
@BBCRadioLondon
👇
'Returning to work and returning to the office are different things.'
@SadiqKhan
tells
#KayBurley
it "isn't realistic" for 100% of staff to return to the office, and a "balancing act" is needed to increase economic activity and protect public health.
The Lib Dems have announced their new candidate for London Mayor. It's
@LuisaPorritt
. More about her, her emerging policies and her selection here: .
#LibDems
@LondonLibDems
Opponents of
#LTNs
might want to keep in mind that a government condition of the
#TfL
bailout was that TfL "agrees to...pushing forward an ambitious Active Travel Plan to promote cycling & walking, including new segregated cycle lanes [and] closures of roads to through traffic."
Believe if Sadiq Khan gets a really big score at City & East - the last constituency to declare - he might just hit one million first preference votes. Bear in mind this calculation has been made by someone who failed A-level maths...

, speaking up for Manchester, Birmingham and other big cities too.. Derides "attempts to unpick by stealth" devo settlements and calls for joint effort to defend against Johnson government.
Rogue landlords and freeholders are squeezing leaseholders for every penny with unfair service charges.
As Mayor I would set up a support hub to challenge unfair service charges...
