I’m stunned after watching this
#60Minutes
interview with
@SpeakerPelosi
thinking about the fact that her young staff knew to kill the lights, barricade the door, and hide under the table after growing up doing those drills in their classrooms.
I feed a community cat named Big Boy who is the absolute sweetest boy in the world. But I have three indoor cats and I can’t bring him in. He has a broken leg and the county will only euthanize him if no one can care for him inside. Anyone want a Big Boy in their family?
Please call your member of Congress and tell them to impeach and remove Trump and expel those legislators who enabled Wednesday’s deadly insurrection. You can send a message directly from
@ElyKreimendahl
There’s a lot to love and a lot to unpack here but I think my favorite part is the absolute and immediate equivalency of radical left politics with sex. I feel like progressives are missing out on a whole marketing campaign opportunity here.
@JoshuaPHilll
For starters (for anyone wanted to take this on in your feeds) photographer Chris Porsz began shooting street portraits of strangers he met in his hometown of Peterborough in England.
I understand the urge to only credit our community but personally, I LOVE that a straight veteran who was at a drag show to support his daughter’s friend (a performer) jumped into action to take down an active shooter to protect us.
We don’t have to be an us vs them society.
This is the only kind of motivational tweet I ever want to see. My money is my business and it is not my top priority. Cheese is obviously my top priority.
@rtgconnect
He is an outdoor guy who definitely wants to be an indoor guy and who lets me pet him. We had him fixed through a TNR program and he’s had his shots. He has a grumpy cat face and a big yell, and an even bigger heart. And if we can’t find him a home, this is probably the end. 💔
It’s against the law for your boss to prohibit you from discussing your wages with your coworkers, and also remember there are more workers than there are bosses
I need women, especially republican women, but really ALL women, no matter how different we are, to understand that at this moment, our collective safety is rooted in not allowing these men to take further control of our government.
After some carefully-coded small talk, the cab driver whispered “You going to [queer space]? I love that place. I just don’t want to drop you off down the street after dark.”
We all look out for each other (when we can find each other), but we shouldn’t have to ❤️🩹
This is excellent for lots of reasons but I would especially like to point out how impressive it is that Jorts marches on two legs holding a sign in most of these pictures. Be as committed to your support and solidarity as a cat willing to walk y’all.
@DanRather
I fell in love with my wife in the filthy back rooms of the nightclubs she performed at (this one is Santos a party House in NYC) surrounded by sticky furniture, band graffiti and go go boys. It’s been 15 years and counting. ❤️
@fuckyouiquit
They also suggested invading Mexico, ending most federal government agencies, climate change was a hoax and aliens came up briefly with a quick pivot to teachers and the problem with single moms. You did not miss much.
@soledadobrien
Old journo here (long since gone to government work) and the most embarrassing thing about that was that it happened in the first place.
@ElyKreimendahl
I love teaching. Teaching college was my favorite and most fulfilling job. But what I ALWAYS wanted to be was a high school teacher - something I chose not to pursue once I realized I’d probably get fired too often for being on the kids’ side of things.
In Kern County and Bakersfield they teach the police it’s “cheaper to kill than wound a suspect.” Listen to the Sheriff for yourself. Find out what else happens in Killing County. Now available on Hulu.

I specifically love that they show up as couples (both male) on Christmas cards. As a member of the
#LGBTQIA
community we appreciate your support. 🏳️🌈
My b-mom was homeless and an addict almost her whole life. When she had housing she got clean. Every time. In no instance did a case worker, therapist, anti camping ordinance, prison sentence or court decree change her addiction. Having affordable and permanent housing did that.
Just got a LinkedIn notification that I would be a prime applicant for my fathers old job in Sacramento. He passed in 2006 and I feel like I just finally did something he’d love. ❤️🥹
@ElyKreimendahl
Lol my entire 20s is a string of bar bathroom hookups in different states. And one bar basement of course *RIP the Lex*. And of course … there was always baggage claim (swing by the bar ten min to close and just pick up what’s left behind) 🏳️🌈

@NoLieWithBTC
@Santos4Congress
Literally one of the reasons crisis comms ppl are so expensive is that we can whip up a reasonably decent response to whatever the problem is in 20 minutes or less that won’t make it worse. It never fails to shock me that people most in need of this refuse it. Also…resign now.
After a year of waiting, a week of “warnings” to businesses and govt officials, a hideous memo Implying fear of protestors is warranted the city is now treating us to
@SacCountyDA
putting a dead, unarmed man on trial to exonerate the men who shot him.

Go for a walk at midnight downtown with no weapons in shoes I can’t run in. Renegotiate my contract. Buy a new car. Mobilize as many women as possible to run for all their seats while securing them all the organization endorsements. Smile.
Women, imagine that for 24 hours, there were no men in the world.
No men are being harmed in the creation of this hypothetical. They will all return. They are safe and happy wherever they are during this hypothetical time period.
What would change? What would you do that day?
I really need people to start to understand that just because the laws being passed are initially targeting a group of people you don’t like, does not mean they will not eventually be used against you too.
New “Let Them Die Act”
Gov. DeSantis signed SB 1580, a “License to Discriminate in Healthcare” bill that will allow healthcare providers and insurers to deny a patient care on the basis of religious, moral, or ethical beliefs.
Absofuckinglutely disgusting

@BrandonTensley
Ahem... taps mic... Millennials aren’t on the beach right now. We’re 40. Were home yelling at the idiots on the beach on TV and trying to figure out how to homeschool our kids and keep our jobs.
The webcam at the National Mall was abruptly shut down without notice and has been removed from the site. Presumably to stop viewers from seeing the lack of attendees at the
#TrumpParade
. We are about to relive Trump’s inauguration all over again.
@olivesaidso
@SpeakerPelosi
Exactly! I sincerely hope that this is one of the top issues taken up, immediately after expelling the legislators that encouraged this insurrection and impeaching Trump.
Young workers are informed, connected, empathetic, ambitious and radical. Plus they have less to lose, since cost of living has gone up while wealthy bosses have suppressed wages for decades.
Why is anyone surprised that these workers are leading the way?
We aren’t supposed to arrest journalists in America. No matter what. It’s why we have those Press Pass thingies hanging around their necks. So everyone knows that they are doing a job and should be left alone. This isn’t hard and the comment section is freaking me out.
@weskrantz
Meet my formerly feral kitten Bear. Two years ago he was a squirmy little flea bag who ate twice his weight at every meal and couldn’t stop biting. As you can see he stayed tough especially with his brothers.
@pholanthropist
1. Men should be held socially accountable for harassing women even when no legal standard is met.
2. The Oxford comma is real & necessary.
3. Facebook didn’t break democracy it democracatized journalism & broke the biz model which is fine since that shit needs a reboot anyway.
@jimrosecircus1
This does not bother the children. The children do not plan to get old. This bothers those of us in our 40s who would like to remind you that 30 years ago was 1970 and we will not be updating that mental model anytime soon.
The fact that
@SacCountyDA
has spent 30 minutes highlighting some broken windows is a horrific lead up to an announcement that breaking windows will get you killed by
@SacPolice
- who won’t be held accountable.
#StephonClark
@JortsTheCat
This is Big Boy. He’s a tough outside guy who always protects the smaller cats and shares his dish with whoever comes by and looks hungry.
Proud to stand with
@TinaMcKinnor1
today at the introduction of
#AB1
- a bill to allow
#CALeg
staff to unionize.
@WeSaidEnough
continues to stand with staff & will walk the halls for staff to pass this bill this year. 💪🏻

As someone with an autoimmune condition who has to make very careful risk assessments for everything, “funny” isn’t the word that comes to mind. Prayers for every person on the planes today whose bodies might not be able to survive/stay healthy if infected.
@BeingCharisBlog
I am always the only one in a mask. People are regularly surprised when I say the pandemic isn’t over. Lots more people are living on sidewalks and under overpasses. Buildings are being built. There is traffic. I have no idea where people are going. No one has sanitizer out.
@rgay
Gen Z is taking a break from fighting the state while the Trumpists are being rounded up by millennial internet sleuths and are bored and cosplaying pirate life til their badassery w/teargas is needed again. Also, old Union song Tik Tok is lovely. (Example in
@alexdecampi
feed)
I grew up in an era when nobody talked about the fact that
#LGBTQ
people existed & the books about us were in the back of only a few stores & we weren’t on TV & there was no Internet. I never expected to live past 30 and a lot of my friends did not.
These things are connected.
NEW: Florida has “effectively banned” AP Psychology classes in the state due to the course’s content on sexual orientation and gender identity, the College Board says.
@BeingCharisBlog
I feel like it’s important to highlight that risk is a range - mass gatherings no matter indoor or out are hugely risky. Outdoor coffee with one person on an uncrowded beach who tested that day - still risky but far less so. We have to give context (since public health didn’t)
@itsafronomics
Party more. Try stuff you are scared of. Wear the semi naked outfit. Take pics of you in it. Quit your crappy job and travel. Ignore anyone telling you to get serious about your future. A wedding is not a goal it’s an event - date to have fun til the right one just sticks around.
Meet Sugar, she doesn't like to be ridden. If Sugar is approached with a saddle she lyes down and pretends to be asleep. Sugar refuses to open her eyes until the riders leave.
Thank you so much to everybody who has reached out today about big boy. We haven’t found what he needs yet, but I feel certain that we can do it. I realize it’s a big ask because of the nature of cat medical needs. Folks with connections to rescues and vets. Please, DM. ❤️
Capitol Staffers are who make the legislature actually function. They do the actual work of making those talking points into reality. It’s an exhausting, underpaid and critical workforce - and they deserve better than to be trashed online by the electeds who employ them.
This is the problem with
#CaLeg
, it’s filled with staffers and activists. We truly have a political class ruling over the People. Surely there are real people, with real jobs, and real accomplishments who are better qualified for elected office??
In Cali, one study found the *deadliest* job in the pandemic was LINE COOK. This is bc they work in poorly ventilated, crowded spaces; are paid shit; live in cramped homes; and often are UNINSURED! How can Covid coverage be denied to the ppl who feed us?
It is an actual Christmas Miracle you guys… BIG BOY HAS BEEN TRAPPED AND IS GETTING SURGERY! Even better… afterwards… HE WILL HAVE AN INSIDE HOME!!!!!! Thank you so much to Happy Tails and especially Andrea for finally getting him trapped and in to see a vet!!!!! 🎄❤️
@eofallthings
Just today I momentarily forgot that my insane xennial childhood stories are not in fact charming anecdotes but horrifyingly traumatic to normal people and I told one to my boss in a group where everyone was sharing. Awkward. 😬
@chasestrangio
Panicking. Prepping. Text banking. Writing checks. Researching escape options for folks w/limited resources. Building community with my neighbors. Starting a garden big enough to feed all of us. Rereading histories of fascist govs for clues. Self defense refeshers. Angry tweeting
@aaronreynolds
One of the wildest parts of this to me is how illegal it is. CA law stipulates that if you ask for a pay range they are required to provide it. Maybe give the Labor Commission a call?
It’s not an accident that abortion bans create the conditions in which it can become medically necessary to sterilize the women who would have had them in the first place.
This is absurd. We’ve all been doing our jobs from home for years. The only thing this goes is add incredible burden and cost in terms of commute, parking, childcare and increased risk to those of us with compromised immune systems.
For a thing that shrinks your brain and maybe causes liver damage and might hurt your kidneys or cause blood clots or stroke or heart attack - this doesn’t do much for the odds of the patient
📍REINFECTIONS—Many variants have evolved to partially dodge immunity. Waves of reinfections—2-3 times/year may be the future of
#COVID19
scientists now fear (& warned since 2020). I’m old enough to remember when others claimed reinfections impossible/rare.
