Live Adaptive teaching is ‘reading the clsssroom’ and then doing something about it to maximise the learning. It is caring wholesomely for the learning as you react.

After spending part of this weekend in
A and E with a sick toddler its a useful reminder that family always comes first.
Always been proud of my work-life balance but being a parent to a toddler mixed with strategic school leadership certainly tests this at times
@mtptproject

What are the two most important factors to consider when planning CPD across a Trust?
1. Create a safe and high quality learning climate
2. Information must be presented in small steps and must also be retrieved at a later date

Just came across some of my ‘old work’ on Reading and remembering how much this model helped Teachers and Children
More passionate about Reading than ever, particularly in today’s ‘iPad Age’. Perhaps it’s time for an updated model?

Routine use of Assessment for Learning and ‘taking stock’ of children’s learning by teachers make a huge difference to children ‘knowing more and remembering more’ as children get the ‘right diet’ for them.
Thoroughly enjoyed leading session on this recently
@InspireEdTrust
Dictation can offer so much when trying to ‘plug gaps’ with a group or class of learners. Like everything when working with children and young people- it’s how you do it!
@InspireEdTrust
@AlexJQuigley
Ebbinghaus’s ‘Forgetting Curve’ shows us what often happens if we don’t plan for our children to retrieve the core knowledge and vocabulary learned and give them opportunities to ‘get core knowledge out’. The forgettingness is VAST!

Big question I’ve been asked recently is ‘does spelling ability really matter in the age of a spellchecker? For me, the answer is absolutely yes as spelling often links so closely with writing self- image and perception of good work,etc…
Great to work
@FBirdAcademy
this afternoon focusing on spelling knowledge and how best to support children with their spelling strategies moving forwards
@InspireEdTrust
“How can school leaders bring together the theoretical knowledge they possess and mobilise it on the ground so it has a positive and tangible impact on pupil outcomes?” Love this quote from

Apart from the obvious, reading can do so much for our chn’s self- esteem, concentration and memory skills. For me, 3 of the most important traits of being an effective learner in 2024. Looking forward to leading Reading CPD on these 3 key areas within Reading
