Dear
@educationgovuk
,
We are now in the final half term of the academic year.
It would be really helpful to know what the plan is for Year 11 and 13 next summer BEFORE we start the new academic year.
A bit of advice. This doesn't mean announcing it during the HOLIDAYS.
Thanks
If exams are going to be different in summer 2022 teachers deserve to know NOW โ

*Leadership*
โThe standard you walk past is the standard you acceptโ
This is so important for all levels of leadership in schools. Model this to colleagues when walking the school
When leaders accept standards against the school expectations it weakens the culture
The idea that schools are at competition with each other in local areas bothers me.
EVERY child in EVERY school deserves a high quality education. Itโs NOT a competition for who can be the best.
All schools should work collaboratively to make this happen.

Relentless routines are undervalued in schools. Students like routines and consistency in their application.
Inconsistency often leads to behaviour issues and causes individual teachers to seen as โstrictโ

โThe standard you walk past is the standard you accept.โ
I remind myself and colleagues of this all the time.
Shared values and social norms applied consistently are key ingredients to building school culture.
You donโt just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn, and as you awaken, so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart, they are gone.

A strong school culture is not created by accident. Itโs taught not caught.
