Imagine teacher A is way more effective than teacher B. Tendency is to make B emulate what A does. I think this is wrong. We need to work with B to establish how B, a different unique person, can improve; not to be more like A but to be a better B. Laminate that! BE A BETTER B!

If the marking load is just way way too much... give yourself a break. Stop. Just flick through some books, next lesson give some whole class feedback /peer review/ self-assessment. Draw a line and start fresh. Done. Nobody will mind. It might even be better for the students.
