As the debate on the floor of the House revealed there isn’t a reason for the Rule of 6 - it could just as easily be the Rule of 7, 8 or 9. For that reason I voted against it. We can’t curb people’s freedoms and families abilities to meet without any justification to do so.

As train passenger numbers have slumped, 1 in 5 rail services could be axed next year ‘to prevent the taxpayers bill spiralling out of control’ saving taxpayers £7bn In light of the above, can someone tell me why we’re not cancelling HS2 which would save taxpayers over £100bn?

Unbelievable discussion... The chance for those in ‘power’ to give ‘power’ to the people is now. The Brexit vote goes to the heart of that. People voted to be given control over their laws, borders and money. So let’s stop talking about it and deliver it.

“Regular people (wanted) to have a say, and that say was Brexit and it is now the MPs against them – The people who are meant to represent them, trying to tussle power off them. They want control of their own future” @EstherMcVey1 #StandUp4Brexit #ThisWeek

Over 155,000 people have now put their names to a petition calling for Hs2 to be scrapped. As I keep saying it’s time to put this very expensive white elephant out of its misery. HS2 must go. Our focus needs to be on good local transport & reliable internet connections for all.

Surely now is the time to put an end to Hs2 & put the money into High speed broadband & IT infrastructure for the whole country. Never has HS2 been more irrelevant & internet connectivity more relevant. 🎧 listen to @MarrShow

The public politician relationship is based on trust so failing to live up to our word &the EU referendum result risks irretrievably losing the public’s trust. It’s dangerous times for democracy and I don’t think some of our colleague have grasped that

Fair point - why hasn’t this story had greater coverage? Is it because it’s good news and our media & politicians are intent on delivering a daily diet of despair? Come on, give us a break, be balanced and report a bit more on the positive things that are happening too.

I’m proud of our national flag - can everyone leave it alone & keep it just as it is. British Airways tried to change it many years ago - what a massive mistake that was just as it is now with our British Olympic Association trying to tamper with it.

Powerful piece by @andreajenkyns on the BBC ‘Maybe a name change is in order from Auntie…to ‘anti’ free speech (Unless you agree with their views), ‘anti’-common sense and ‘anti’-quated. It is time to bring this national treasure into the 21st Century.’

It’s trade not aid that gets countries out of poverty & now we’re no longer in the EU we should be working to secure trade agreements with poorer countries, helping them to develop industry and trade their way out of poverty. @Telegraph 👇🏼
