Basic but excellent. Junction set as close as possible to 90 degrees and crossing distance minimised. Parking too close to the junction prevented. This works for kids walking to school. Compare to previous flared alignment.

@GingaGill Those barriers don’t stop cars with failing brakes. A car hitting them would flatten them and anything behind. Bollards would do more. But the point was *why 1/3 of the footway was considered the appropriate loss when that footway was already only minimum width*.

Dear @TfL , marking the Grand Union Canal as a cycle route because it's the only thing making north west London look vaguely cycleable really isn't on. It's personally dangerous, physically risky, and is a pedestrian priority route. See alt text. PER-LEASE!!

Listening to account of young girl riding brilliantly at a cycling session for Disabled children. She seemed not at all disabled. As soon as she stopped, it was clear she had CP and could scarcely walk. I seem to have something in my eye… why I want need safe streets.

Here’s a hack for motorists worried about fuel: Stop driving, especially to petrol stations to take fuel from people who need it like scaffold trucks and fire engines. Pump up the bike tyres and use that instead.

This level of car ownership would be pitiable but understandable in a public transport desert far from amenities. But this road is on three bus routes with several more via stops at the junction at the bottom, and it’s about ten mins walk with trees & green space to big shops.

This is unusable. Unusable for me with a bag of shopping slung on each side, unusable for this man who gave me permission to show him walking in the road with his toddler because the pavement is too impeded for people to use it. But the bins are safe.

@CharlotteCGill you'd rather wait around for a bus or taxi than hop on your bike? I come home from work late at least once a week and being without a bike is terrible. With the bike, I can hop on and be heading along the streets safely and briskly. Massive personal safety win.

@tylertechtime @SecretaryPete Car dependency is horrendously uninclusive as you say - isolation for anyone who can’t drive. Just because ‘you’ll never be able to get rid of all cars’ doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to reduce dependency and improve inclusion

@cyclisethecity @LLCool_K @markandcharlie @warkspolice @OPUWarks It has a centre line. Narrow roads don’t have those! If there’s an opposite lane to overtake in, that’s what drivers should use. If that lane is blocked by moving or parked vehicles, they wait brick they reach a clear zone. Please send these cops back to copper school.

Two women fatally injured yesterday at hideous junctions where cycle users in both cities have asked again & again for safety improvements - AND NOT ENOUGH ACTION. So yes I will politicise, activate & protest until people choose to remove deadly spaces instead of retaining them.
