Today a priceless gold hat with a 317-carat diamond and 400 other jewels was driven in a custom-made Rolls Royce to a £2.5 billion palace, where it was placed next to a gold chair in which sat one of the world's richest men, who told 2 million hungry Britons there's no money.

Brexit policy of "No entry unless you earn £30k" Junior doctor starting salary: £23k to £28k (Google it) 26% of NHS doctors are born overseas (Google it) So this policy means we lose, overnight, a quarter of NHS trainee doctors. How does this relieve pressure on the NHS?

He lied to his parents, his school his newspaper bosses, his party leader, his readers, every journalist, all his wives, all his mistresses, his acknowledged kids, the unacknowledged ones, the police, parliament, and the Queen. But I never thought he'd lie to ME

A single-tweet #TheWeekInTory 1. Tories sacked Johnson for being a liar 2. Tugendhat was cheered hugely by the public for being the only candidate to say Johnson is a liar 3. Tories cheered yet more Johnson lies in parliament today 4. And then the Tories eliminated Tugendhat

Boris Johnson jeered by flag-waving crowds? Ok, NOW I can get behind the Jubilee.

Today in freedom of speech, politicians are allowed to talk about Jesus, but archbishops aren't allowed to talk about politics.

I used to work with 2 Germans. They were nice. We didn’t discuss the war, cos it ended 25 years before we were born, and we played no part in it. Nor did our parents. I didn't mind if they won at pool, chess or football. They didn't mind if I won. It was better then.

I'm glad Johnson is out of ICU, but can we stop treating it as a victory, or him as a hero? The man rebuffed 100s of ventilators cos they might upset Brexiters, failed to order PPE, failed to isolate when WHO told him, lied, privarocated, obfuscated, mismanaged. He's a clown.

I'm having a few days off, so here's an early #TheWeekInTory Don't worry. They've been busy. 1. The govt said “we will work around the clock to ensure nobody goes hungry as a result of this crisis” 2. Four days later the govt ended free meals for the poorest 1.3m children

Have to admit, I'm not celebrating #Cummings as much as I expected. Sure, its nice when the arsonist goes away, but it doesn't matter much if he's already burned your village to the ground.

I don't know why Nick Robinson thinks this is extraordinary. We all knew. I was documenting this in weekly - often daily - in The Week In Tory at the time. The only extraordinary thing here is the utter failure of mainstream journalism to hold him to account when it mattered.

Extraordinary. Truly extraordinary. The Cabinet Secretary on his then boss @BorisJohnson during the pandemic : "He cannot lead & we cannot support him...Government isn't actually that hard but this guy is really making it impossible."

#TheWeekInTory (Wed to Sun) 1. Let’s start with the milder corruption: it was revealed Matt Hancock tried to block 400 homes and a primary school near Newmarket racecourse, after receiving at least £65,000 in donations from horseracing bigwigs who opposed the scheme
