Our son Adam has been in the ITU in Carmarthen since 19th January. He is still there, critically ill. We so much appreciate your prayers/good thoughts (whatever is your thing). Here he is, at a better time, in one of his many joyful moments.
Delighted to visit our son Adam in his home yesterday. A little unsteady on his feet but back walking, and no other apparent effects of his serious illness earlier on this year. After all those months for him in the ITU, so glad to have reached this place..
Delighted to say that Adam is now out of intensive care and being looked after on one of the main wards of the hospital. We so much value all the love and support which he has received from so many people in so many places, and know that this will continue on his way to recovery.
Our son Adam remains critically ill in hospital. He is having a scan this afternoon, and we’ll get the results tomorrow. Your continuing prayers/good wishes (whatever is your thing) at this worrying time are so much appreciated. Here he is (left) with his brother

Well this has been a day. So much appreciation to everyone out there for all the love and support for Adam and to us his family over these last weeks. As
@GillibrandPeter
says, not out of the woods yet, but much, much better news than we were expecting.
Last night, I went to bed dreaming of a miracle - and the NHS provided one.
The infections in my brother, Adam’s, brain have “significantly” shrunk; a surprise to the doctors. They’re looking to wake him next week after almost 2 months.
Not out of the woods yet -but so happy.❤️

We don’t know what the outcome will be for Adam over these coming days - we are powerless to do anything other than place him in God’s care.
Visiting our son Adam in hospital tonight. He is critically ill. I’ve fought over and over again for more than 25 years to try to ensure that he gets fair play and that his needs are met. Feel so powerless now to do anything other than watch and wait and pray.

Not a good day today. Adam is likely to need a tracheostomy over the weekend. Any road to recovery will then be narrow and dangerous. All prayers and good wishes (whatever is your thing) are deeply, deeply appreciated.
Results of Adam’s latest scan this afternoon. He has been in intensive care since about the middle of January. So appreciative of all the prayers/good wishes for him over these long weeks.
Here’s a tweet back in March. Delighted to say that I’ve had a call this morning to say that Adam will be leaving hospital on Thursday after being there since the 19th of January. On the way back to his home, and on the road to recovery. We will look forward to visiting him there

Brilliantly, we’re going to be able to see our son Adam this Friday, for the first time since he was vaccinated. He is in full time residential care. So looking forward!

Adam’s had his MRI. Results with doctor tomorrow at 1. Could be life or death.
Luckily for now he’s sleeping peacefully and being cared for by the excellent nurses at Hywel Dda UHB.
We visited Adam this evening. He was sleeping peacefully. 🙏 We take one day at a time. Rydym yn cymryd un dydd ar y tro. Ein parch a’n diolchiadau yn mynd at staff yr ysbyty. ❤️NHS
Adam has very little spoken language. He has no idea what Twitter is. Whatever the outcome, I’ll never be able to explain to him how many people are praying for him and rooting for him. I am always reluctant to say that I speak on his behalf, but on his behalf I thank you all.

Respectfully, can I ask you not to use ‘nutters’ as a term of abuse? It stigmatises people with genuine mental health issues. I’m simply saying that as a polite and gentle request.
How we got through 2022, I don’t know. Far, far more importantly our son Adam did, after months in the ITU in Carmarthen. So much appreciation to other son
@GillibrandPeter
and thousands of tweeters for your love and support. 2023, behave yourself now!
Going over to Carmarthen to see Adam today at 1 o’clock. He remains in critical condition and under sedation. A good thing is that as far as we can see he is in no distress. Because he is non-verbal I’ve never had a conversation with him. There is so much that I want to say now.

We are seeing our son Adam in hospital tonight at 5 o’clock. We would around that time so much appreciate your prayers/good vibes/whatever is your thing. Our deepest thanks to all in the hospital who are caring for him minute by minute.
Visited my brother today. Not going to sugarcoat things, we’re holding on to a “glimmer of hope” for Adam as he battles brain infections. Thank you for the support everyone.
The operation went well - treatment to continue over the coming weeks. We don’t yet know how things will turn out. We have been deeply moved by all the prayers and good wishes for Adam and us his family. Some things go beyond words.

Such good news tonight. Doctor told us that we could be cautiously optimistic, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Adam will possibly need further surgery and certainly long term rehab, but this is much better news than we were expecting.
My autistic brother, Adam, has been in intensive care in Carmarthen since January but tonight doctor’s described him as a “miracle”.
All of the brain infections he’s been battling have been eliminated by antibiotics - after a v rocky few weeks!!
Honestly, so much relief. ❤️
Hi,
@TheWiggles
, this is Adam’s dad! Thank you ever so much for this. Your music was on in your house a lot of the time when he was a little boy, because he loved it so much. This means so much to us.
My autistic brother, Adam, has always loved
@TheWiggles
.
To our surprise, they sent us a special video from Australia - to play to him as he sleeps peacefully in Intensive Care - during what could be the last few weeks of his life.
I hope he heard it - they make him so happy.❤️
Visiting Adam. He’s on the ward and out of intensive care. Making excellent progress considering all that he’s been through since he came into hospital in mid-January. Huge appreciation to all who have been looking after him.

One of my sons has very significant disabilities. In my world he is deeply loved. In Toby Young’s world, he is a troglodyte. Amazed that Toby Young can be considered for this job even for a moment, let alone appointed.

Adam’s first night tonight back in his own home. We were there when he was discharged from hospital and then went to visit him an hour or so later. What a year.. But - Whoop! Whoop! Could so easily have turned out very differently. Deep thanks to so many for your support.

WORLD RECORD*!!!!
Got home from hospital at 11:30pm last night and barely any sleep. But I completed the course in the boiling sunshine and raised (so far) £1,000 for the Intensive Care Unit!!
Hardest day of my life yet - but brilliant to be back at the Cardiff Half. ❤️
Gutted that I can’t do

tomorrow (it would have been my first) but I need to be with Adam’s mum Gillian and not far from Adam over the next few days. As soon as circumstances permit, I will be doing my very own half-marathon, and be posting on here about it.

So much appreciation to all who have sent messages of love and support for our son Adam who is in hospital, and to ourselves at such an anxious time. Twitter at its best can be a place of most wondrous kindness.
@MichaelRosenYes
For four months earlier on this year our son was critically ill and under sedation in intensive care. We visited him every other day, and saw at close hand the work of the NHS. We 100% support the strike.

We have an autistic son who is now an adult. This is cutting essential support for children and families as they make their way through the educational system. Beyond dreadful.

Thinking of all that public sector workers have done since March for the sake of the country, communities and individuals. They’ve kept things going. And how do we reward them? A pay freeze.

The latest MRI shows only a tiny change for the better. The next MRI will be in two weeks time, but if things continue like this, we will need to prepare ourselves for the worst.
@BBCPolitics
We couldn’t visit our autistic son in his own home for months on end. And so many faced even more heart rending situations. Mr Fabricant deciding to come up with less than convincing excuses is not good enough.
I can’t believe it... my learning disabled brother is getting his vaccine against

on Friday!
I phoned up the GP with the latest news and they booked him in straight away.
Weeks of fighting and he’s finally getting the protection he deserves ❤️
Adam, today is your day.
We visited Adam this afternoon. Delighted beyond words when we saw that he was able to stand for a little while unassisted after months under sedation.

As an Anglican priest, I believe it to be so important that the churches take a stand against the rise of the far-right. And UKIP have crossed a line.
A prayer which I wrote for Adam’s confirmation, back in the day. 1/2 Lord God, you have sent to us Adam as a witness to your love. Help us to learn from his unwillingness to be conformed to the standards of the world around him..

It’s desperate and disappointing stuff. I arrived in Wales in 1988. I was so impressed by the welcome that I stayed and learnt Welsh. I’m not just saying that to make a point: it was exactly how it happened.
