It can be very confusing to watch a Rep like Matt Gaetz or AOC operate, but everything they do and say makes perfect sense when you realize that they aren’t actually representing people in Congress; they’re actually just social media influencers.
In 1928, when prohibition was a big issue, Americans were divided into "wets" (pro-alcohol) and "drys" (anti-alcohol). Al Smith ran for President as a "wet" which led to what is probably the most unfortunate political slogan in American history:
I’m not a Trump supporter but this is a grotesque and blatantly political decision. It will of course end up having the opposite of the intended effect.
Watch the insane moment

for wrongly attributing an inflammatory tweet to him.
Shameless, disingenuous, partisan theatrics on full display.
NBC News came right out and said it:
"With tens of thousands of migrants now attempting to settle in blue states and cities around the country, the ground has shifted in the national immigration debate..."
I can’t think of anything more ill-timed and cold-hearted than today's demonstration in Times Square.
We’ve seen unprecedented viciousness coming from Hamas aimed at innocent families and children.
Everyone—no matter your views—should condemn this brutal act.
"The Hunter deal was always premised on the notion that nobody would see the sausage. The Justice Department would release the bare bones of an agreement, the press would infuse it with credibility, and the judge would sign off."
Lots of people are telling me they don't understand Bidenomics, so I created this thread which gets into the weeds and explains all the nuance... (1/3)
“It was all a huge misunderstanding. You see, Chrissy and Janet were asking me about the whistleblower and then Mr. Roper knocked on the door and I fell over the couch.”
Dana Bash: "Ahead of the first Trump impeachment, you said the committee had not spoken to a whistleblower. In fact, that turned out not to be true."
Adam.Schiff: "I should've been more clear."
I always end up having to defend Trump. Not because I agree with what he did but because the systemic overreaction is usually just as dangerous if not more dangerous than whatever Trump did to set it off.
@Neoavatara
The Dem line against negotiating at all set them up for a huge loss. It was politically untenable. Now, McCarthy is the only one who can claim victory.
When they filmed this scene, they really dropped Rickman about 50 feet onto a crash mat. The stunt coordinator told him they were going to drop him on the count of 3 but then dropped him on 1 so he would look surprised.
The DOJ basically tried to give Hunter a pardon so the President wouldn't have to. That is corrupt. Did the President ask for it? Was it Garland's idea? SOMEBODY powerful decided that Hunter shouldn't have to face the consequences of his actions, and we need to know who it was.
"The Hunter deal was always premised on the notion that nobody would see the sausage. The Justice Department would release the bare bones of an agreement, the press would infuse it with credibility, and the judge would sign off."
SHAPLEY: "Based on guidance provided by the prosecutors on a recurring basis to not look into anything related to President Biden, there is no way of knowing if evidence of other criminal activity existed concerning Hunter Biden or President Biden."
For two weeks, I’ve met & and talked with candidates for Speaker, telling them what’s important to my district. I’ve been up front about withholding my support without reliable commitments on these important issues. When I said I’d always put Long Island First, I wasn’t bluffing.
It goes without saying that once somebody investigates Durham’s investigation of the Trump-Russia investigation, we’ll need a new investigator to investigate the investigation into Durham’s investigation.
Before Streaming: I enjoyed the 24 new episodes of my favorite show they made this year. I can’t wait until Fall so I can watch more new episodes.
Now: I enjoyed the 6 new episodes of my favorite show. I hope I’ll still care three years from now when they release another 6
@PolitiBunny
Some of Gaetz’s gripes are spot on but ousting McCarthy will not fix any of them. It’s basically like he’s throwing a tantrum while his parents stand there being humiliated.
If Trump wins, how will he ever put together a cabinet? Only an idiot would serve on his cabinet knowing eventually he’ll turn on you and declare you disloyal.
Today is the 141st anniversary of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s birth. TR was FDR’s 5th cousin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s uncle. He gave the bride away at their 1905 wedding.
There’s no practical reason to take a mugshot of President Trump, so I assume the purpose was to humiliate him. If that’s the case, I think it may have backfired.
"If the charges against Senator Menendez are substantiated, it may partly explain why the Egyptian regime seemed so indifferent to America’s previous threats: there were people working to get Egypt assistance without it needing to adhere to human rights commitments."
This is the whole reason why the 14th Amendment exists, and we need to be prepared to use it. We cannot let these reckless Republicans hold the economy hostage.
Senators should keep their mouths shut regarding impeachment. It’s not their business; it’s solely the House’s business. Then, their political posturing becomes a problem later bc an impeachment trial requires Senators to take an oath to do impartial justice.
Four months ago, I kind of stopped following politics much and spent the time learning Spanish instead. I’m getting pretty good now. I can watch telenovelas and read Spanish versions of books I loved when I was in second or third grade.
Without the Senate, small population states would never have agreed to ratify the Constitution because it would have made them little more than subjects of the big population states.
Republican or Democrat— it makes no difference— never vote for anyone to serve in Congress if they encourage the executive branch to go around the legislative branch.
Constitutional scholar, John Fetterman dressed up today to encourage Joe Biden to weaponize the 14th Amendment and usurp Congress's constitutional authority to determine federal spending as it relates to the debt ceiling.
At least, I think that's what his aides wrote down for
NEW CNN POLL:
55% say Biden has acted inappropriately regarding the investigation of Hunter
61% say they believe Joe Biden was involved in his son's business dealings
Of those 61%, 69% think Joe Biden's actions were illegal
It’s disgusting that the Senate did not expel Menendez after his first crime and corruption spree. Instead, Senate Dems protected him and let him continue in his corruption.
From the Menendez indictment:
"Menendez provided sensitive U.S. Government information and took other steps that secretly aided the Government of Egypt."
When I was a kid, the best thing about staying home from school was getting to watch The Price is Right. But Bob Barker’s most memorable moment was when he beat up Happy Gilmore.
I am prepared to undertake the solemn responsibility of filling the vacancy in New York’s 3rd District.
The people of Long Island deserve nothing less.
The student loan payment pause freed up money that gave people breathing room — or allowed them to help family members in need.
Now, with the pause ending in late August, borrowers will have to budget for that expense.
SHAPLEY: "This was the second search warrant where prosecutors agreed that probable cause was achieved, but would not allow the investigators to execute a search warrant, a clear indication of preferential treatment of Hunter Biden."
I read this morning that LGBT groups are angry with Anheuser-Busch for not standing behind their ad. They made a political statement and then didn't have the guts to stand by it. That's the WORST thing you can do! Now both sides are angry with them.
