First it was
"there aren't any chargers, I'm not going electric"
Then it was
"I don't like all the apps"
Now its
"there's too many EVs, chargers are too busy"
I've never queued for a charger and only use chargers that are easy to use. One tap of a card and we're charging
3% of all vehicles on the road are EVs
That's a 3% drop in cars visiting petrol stations
What % will start to trigger the inevitable closure of petrol forecourts?
I'm guessing 20-30% in 2028
My first full calendar year of EV charging. The numbers are still sinking in.
11,300 miles
£53 in home electricity costs
£15 approx public charging
A whole years driving on the equivalent of 1 tank of petrol!!
(347kWh free Podpoint &
55kWh free Tesla destination

No Apps no web account, no RFID card
very easy charging
Dissapointed at the Panarama EV program
Designed from the start to be negative

setup to fail🤷♂️🤦♂️
Just received my monthly
@OctopusEnergy
bill
£52.38 incl standing charge
£1.69 per day
Just 3.9kwh of peak rate 40p per kwh
I'd love this to be zero but 0.125 per day isn't bad
522kwh off peak 7.5p per kwh
Very happy when this is for ALL our energy needs including EVs
#Nogas
Another poor soul duped by Toyota. Happy in the hybrid getting 50mpg yet lots of petrol only cars get 50+mpg
33% of his journey was on electric which means the real mpg before battery power is more like 35mpg (its charging the battery)🤦♂️
Don't be duped, go full EV
Don't you just love how the nay sayers ignore how much you're saving from solar to point out , until the equipment is all paid back you're not in profit
It seems I'm not allowed to be pleased about £zero bills until it's paid back
Heaven forbid I describe it as free energy 🤣
Our solar day has just ended and a very satisfactory day its been 39.7kWh
🏡House 2.6kwh
♨️Heating 7kwh
👨🍳Cooking 2.4kwh
🚗EV 16.6kwh (65 miles ish)
🚿Hot water 5.2kwh
🔋3.5kwh
⚡➡️Export 3.2kwh
⚡⬅️Import 0.7kwh
Cost 28p 🎉
This really feels like extortion
@VWGroup
@VWUKPress
Withholding data you'd expect to see normally (battery soc%)
charging an annual fee to see it instead
Youd think they'd look at offering extra services and products Instead of withholding ones you've paid for once before
Public EV charging is expensive right?
Just back from a 420 mile trip which cost £20.37 public charging
Much cheaper that even a 70mpg diesel which would've used 27 litres at say £1.75=£47.25
Could've saved another £5 if I'd embraced the turtle
@KateFantom
@ecocars1
My first charge to 💯 on solar alone & first 300ml+ range shown since car was new.
18% added to the Kona, 3kw into hot water & a roast & all we've used is 1kWh from the grid (13p!) half of which was used pre 7am.
I should have done this years ago, it's so much better.
I was at my Hyundai dealer today. Sales enquiries for EVs are up 40% in the last 2 months it seems.
There are daily enquiries for electric cars, whereas before the Kona they were few and far between.
Something's changing & it's picking up momentum as each new EV is launched
At last some activist activity that doesn't make me 🤮😖🤬🤦♂️
"Correcting" misleading advertising boards
Time to ban fossil fuel related adverts without proper health and climate warnings?
This new Baby VOLVO SUV is going to shake things up with its entry price of £33k and £41k for 420hp 3.6sec - 60 AWD version
Lots of EVs that have crept prices higher now look expensive
Just renewed our EV insurance
and its to my surprise .....
£170 p.a.
With so many reporting huge increases I was uncertain but now I'm very happy
My Mini was £180
Reward for being old and slow 🤭
It takes ages to charge our EV😉
Arrived home empty Sunday 5pm and it's only 70% full now 46 hours later
#Solarpv
But at about 5p cost😜
I'd be happy if it took a bit longer
Quicker isn't ways better
I would like to say thank you to my Mum, who convinced me to go electric & buy the Kona 64kWh Premium SE & later solar panels too.
If you're thinking about going electric, don't hold back
Treat yourself, go for it, there's only one life so live it well & be happy
Please retweet
'Full Hybrid ' Mild hybrid , Plain old Hybrid
Renault Clio FULL Hybrid has a whopping 1.2kwh battery
Impressive? Not !
Yet they claim 80% pure electric driving
Makes Toyota seem reasonable 🤣🤭
That's 84kwh exported in 2 days and over 100kwh generated.
Wonder how many homes I powered with my little solar power station 8-10?
If only more homes added solar we'd burn a lot less fossil fuels
For those that wonder how I and others afford things ....
We worked hard
We saved up
We don't waste money elsewhere
We paid into a pension
We've been patient
Being sensible is boring...
until it enables you to enjoy the fun stuff
EVs take hours to charge and its great 😊🤭😎
4½ hrs to replenish 100 miles for free, whilst I relax at home in the sun
Or
Queue and wait your turn to spend £6.40 a gallon 🤔🤔🤔
210 mls in the Kona yesterday & still had 77 left (GoM)
Didn't charge overnight & with Ice on the screen, did another 42 miles this morning. 36 miles left (GoM).
288mile genuine range in Feb!
Off out again now, not needing a charge with 13% left.
Perhaps it's self charging?
Really can't understand
@NissanUK
Watched a Quasqui self charging no cables anti EV hybrid nonsense video today
Don't they want to sell the Ariya EV?
Perhaps it explains why they've not developed the Leaf much or produced any other EVs
Not sharing the ad, it's predictable
Just uploading my test data to YouTube but I'm happy to report absolutely no degradation to my Kona's battery. None.
386.5 miles driven on one charge with 1%, 2 miles remaining
85.2 kWh consumed, 21.9kwh of Regen, 63.3 kWh net used.
To think EVs are just going to get better!
Our
@OctopusEnergy
'Intelligent'
Off peak is 1/4 of cost of peak rate
75% saving😁🥳
We use 99% off peak energy keeping our bills low
Yesterday we used 0.004kwh peak rate
Our Home Storage battery and solar panels are what make this possible
Wow, just had our best ever generation day
57kwh 🥇(40.7kwh Solis + 16.4kwh Solaredge)
Clear skies all day meant lower peak output but who's complaining
Hopefully it'll be good again tomorrow as Susan should be bringing home a thirsty EGolf
Just want to take a moment to say thank you to all my EV/Solar friends. If I've met you, chatted or exchanged msgs, you've been part of making my life a better one so thank you all.
The EV community is full of intelligent, decent folk
Merry Xmas everyone
My last day of 16p peak pricing
40p tomorrow and for the next year
The challenge: To use less peak rate than last year
Doing nothing, carrying on as before isn't an option
We should all make changes to reduce our energy consumption, however insulated we feel
Just got a message from a friend saying she'll be late getting here this morning, "got to stop to fill up"
Only coming 30 miles, these petrol cars have awful range and are so inconvenient..... and then there's the back ache from hanging onto the nozzle while you fill up 😂
From watching others install solar,
including those that once said it was ugly & devalued your home
It now appears to be a trendy home addition like conservatories used to be
Home Solar is really starting to catch on
and as we know
once you start
it doesn't stop there😁
Took our EGolf into the dealer yesterday
No courtesy car so followed in the Mini to get home
10 miles there x 2 cars
10 miles back x 1 car
10 miles there to collect x 1 car
10 miles back x 2 cars
60 miles all in!
Think I'll get
@Cleevely_Mobile
to service it at home instead
I really want a new kitchen but I'm struggling with payback, just can't make the numbers work.
New carpets aren't much better either
Think I'll stick with
#Solar
😉
@ecocars1
YouTube is a funny old world full of people moaning, hating and occasionally applauding but when someone really gets the message you're sharing
(why I chose a smaller battery EV)
it warms the heart a bit.
Working on my solar update & noticed this stat from
@myenergiuk
Zappi
Since going EV 3 yrs ago
I've added 4060 kwhs via my Zappi
4 megawatt hours!
(Instead of 325 gallons of diesel)
73% was solar power
27% was mostly cheap energy overnight or solar energy stored in a battery
Whilst
@MartinSLewis
is saying the energy company switch market is dead with the govenerment effectively controlling prices through the cap
I've seen more followers and friends using my
@OctopusEnergy
referral than any other month
More people making good energy choices 👍👏🐙
Looks like a day of records today. Almost 20kWh added to my Kona from my Solar PV and
@myenergiuk
#Zappi
and there's a couple of hours to go.
Added 100 miles of range so far, for free!
I still marvel at how I can go for a drive then replenish the energy used for free.
When your wife talks to a stranger and tells them shes baking this afternoon as there's more solar due then, the stranger looks confused,
whilst I look proud
Non solar folk don't get it yet but those that know, just know more about shifting your energy use to better times
Wishing all my friends and followers a sunny Christmas with full batteries
Unless you're on the naughty list, then you might expect rain😉🎅
Here's to a bright New Year ahead with many more EV adopters and solar data geeks doing the smart thing, going electric⚡💡
Andy,
Nope, I didn't see petrol and energy price rises coming. I didn't install solar panels and didn't sign up for a cheap rate tariff
You got me, I'm regretting going electric 😉😂
Octopus energy heat pump survey booked for end of the month. Told between £3k and £7k after the £5k grant.
They're using Daikin heat pumps apparently.
As mid Aircon install planning, timing couldn't have been better 😬🤷♂️🤯
Brilliant drive in the Mini today
173 miles and it was soooooo tempting to push on without a charge and make it in one go
But we needed a coffee more so stopped. Arrived with 2 bays empty , left 10 mins later with someone queuing, no doubt grateful we were quick
Solar and EV moaners are just jealous!
They know its better for the environment and saves money too but until you've got your own PV & EV you can't appreciate how good it feels
I'd be lost 😭 without the freedom and positivity of having an EV and my own energy to power it 😎🌤️
If I get any more comments about payback periods I'll scream at the wall!
Hang on I just need to check the capital cost and payback on that 55inch TV I'm thinking about 🤦♂️😜
Interesting to see out of 100 cars queuing for the Steam festival, celebrating steam engines only 1 EV amongst them!!
A lonely Volvo C30 in a sea of idling diesels and petrol off to see the previous generation of engines
Wonder if we'll see a festival of diesel one day 🤔
Who's not loving this awesome weather?
Set out with 80% / 221 miles.
95 mile road trip around the Norfolk coast and only 24% drop in SOC, which will be recouped tomorrow in the sun via my
#Zappi
Just been for a Model Y test drive at the Norwich
@Tesla
service centre.
Very impressed
Lots more chargers installed since Kia moved out, nice looking service area and really liked the Model Y
Very good experience, Tesla are well organised
@NorfolkEvs
@KateFantom
@RSymonsLTD
I find this sort of article offensive
or headline at least😞
Are people this dim or are
@BBC_TopGear
just presuming their audience aren't the smartest?
A few led lights and a wiper motor?
Give me strength🤦♂️
Did everyone worry about it affecting their mpg?
Mythbusting the world of EVs: do lights and wipers kill your range? Worried if you're out in your EV and it's raining, or getting dark? Here's the truth →
I love the consistency of Toyota anti EV news
It's always a new thing they've developed , prototype etc yet it never arrives
instead just the same old Hybrid with a flashy body shell duping not so smart buyers into thinking they're getting a modern eco car 🤦
Thick fog first thing this morning but still generating 350w
Weirdly we're still on cheap rate 7.5p energy (10 hours of it today)
Solar and cheap rate together🤯
To celebrate
#WorldEVDay2021
we went for a drive in our Mini Cooper SE..and have just recharged again from all this wonderful sunshine.
Can't wait for the day when everyone has gone electric and the days of tasting, smelling and choking on diesel fumes is behind us.
Derbyshire seems to have planning restrictions for solar, wind and even charging infrastructure
But a quarry raping the national park of its beauty is ok?
Go figure 🤷
That's it, I'm adding Hydrogen as a block word to my YouTube comments.
Not one helpful factual comment just daft or spam comments "do you realise EVs are bad at.... Hydrogen coming soon" 🤣🤣🤣
There must be an office full of them typing pro hydrogen comments 🛢️💩
I absolutely ♥ our heating system
That's weird right?
Whacking the boiler on and being warm meant nothing before and we had only negative thoughts about the gallons of oil used
We're so much more appreciative of our A2A system and its greener/ lower cost energy source
