To those who like to say I'm 'lucky' to be retired from policing at 51. My childhood was pretty messed up, so I joined the police & worked bloody hard in a very tough job, made a difference & paid lots more into my pension than many do. Nowt to do with luck, all to do with me.

Gave £10 today to a homeless man, sat on a freezing cold London street, with his dog, wrapped in a blanket in his arms. I know, maybe unwise. But who am I to judge his life, what he chooses to do with it or needs to get through a day. He needs it more than me. So thats enough

29 yrs ago today i became WPC 2504. Saw lots of stuff I wish I hadn't, smelt things I'd like to forget, climbed too many fences, got punched, got swore at most days, heard some last breaths. I changed stuff too, made life safer, saved a few, & held lots of very grateful hands.💙

Controversial. Teachers are being asked to deal with classes of 15 per day .For pretty decent pay. For probably 6 weeks. Then its holiday again. Meanwhile supermarket staff face 100's a day. For pretty shitty wages. And no 6 week holiday to look forward to. Perspectives.

Found this little bee yesterday morning, struggling to stay upright. Gave him sugar water, put him in a safe place, even got up over night to check on him. Took 24hrs but he's just done a big fat buzz, & flown away, up into the sky. I like to think he waved to me as he went. 🐝

Know what I love best about policing? Retirement. For me, before 50. Gamechanger. & before you come at me with the 'you're lucky' stuff, no luck involved. Did a tough job many couldnt handle, & paid more than most into my pension. So I earned it. Now I'm gonna bloody enjoy it.

Last night I went to McDonald's with my 16yr daughter. She spotted a boy in her class at sixth form. Later he text her 'Your mum is fit!'. She read it to me, then said 'Hes obviously just joking mum, you're nearly 50'. I prefer to think I'm still rocking it !

My dad died 6 yrs ago just before Xmas. I kept all his wrapping paper, the rolls he never got to use. Some is Winne the Pooh, for his grandkids. Now all grown up. I take it out the box every year look at it, & put it back. It smells of him . & I cant bear to use it. #Christmas

Last week a recently retired colleague took his own life. Despite a happy family, & a much deserved retirement. He'd carried traumatic duty scars for years.The stuff of nightmares. Noone ever forgot what happened. A reminder that a Police Officers uniform is a very heavy one

My two elderly neighbours are sitting side by side on a bench in their garden. He just brought her a bowl of cold water & helped her put her feet in. She did a little clap & giggled. To top it off he said 'shall I make you a nice cup of tea love'? My heart just melted. #goals
