29 yrs ago today i became WPC 2504.
Saw lots of stuff I wish I hadn't, smelt things I'd like to forget, climbed too many fences, got punched, got swore at most days, heard some last breaths.
I changed stuff too, made life safer, saved a few, & held lots of very grateful hands.💙

I joined 29 years ago. I’m still a WPC and my birthday is 25.04…my collar number is only three digits though. Congratulations for getting this far.

You have my admiration mixed with some envy! With the benefit of hindsight think I would have loved that career. Such a tough job but rewarding job. Bet it changed a huge amount over the 29 years. Probably not always for the better either!

How long were you a police officer for? and do they still use WPC or are men and women all PC’s now?

Did 27 years. I always used WPC, whole career,personally I liked to be identified as a woman, often that mattered to members of the public for all sorts of reasons. It tends not to be used widely now though but its still out there!
