Thunderstorm rain is good for the garden! Lightning heats the air to 30,000°C and generates enough energy for nitrogen and oxygen in the air to combine, forming nitrogen oxides. These nitrogen oxides can dissolve in rainwater and form nitrates, which help plants to grow ⚡💦➡️🌿
After over 20 years working
@BBCWales
in Llandaff, I did my last live broadcast on
@BBCWalesToday
this evening.
Next week I will bring you the forecast from our new home in Central Square, Cardiff.
Happy St David's Day. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant hapus.
Today is also the first day of meteorological spring!
March 1st to May 31st.
After the wettest February on record, fingers crossed for a dry and warm spring! 🌷🌼
36 years ago. Remember the blizzard of 1982? It started on the evening of 7th January and didn't stop snowing for over 36 hours! The M4 was brought to a standstill and the roof of Sophia Gardens pavilion in

collapsed under the weight of snow >
Not definite yet but a hint maybe of a taste of summer further down the road in mid April. Winds from N Africa and temperatures in the 20s! Now wouldn't that be nice? Pray hard enough and it might happen! 😎🔆🌡
Can't believe it's 21 years ago this month since my first appearance on
@BBCWalesToday
in1997 📺👦
A lot has changed since then including the colour of my hair! 😉😁
After almost two weeks in hospital, mum is back home and feeling much better. She'd like to thank all the wonderful staff, doctors and nurses at Llandough and the University Hospital of Wales in

The first snow of the winter has fallen in the Vale of Glamorgan! Depth about 1cm. I must admit to being quite excited. That feeling when you open the curtains and you see snow. Also slightly relieved as it was forecast! 😁❄️⛄
40 years ago this weekend,
#Wales
was in the grip of one of the worst blizzards of the 20th century. I was a teenager at the time and remember it well! The temperature at Cardiff Airport didn't rise above minus 3°C! ❄️🌬️📉
These strange ice formations were spotted near Llay in Wrexham. Caused by motorists driving through puddles of water on the side of the road, spraying the hedges and trees, with overnight temperatures dropping to -6°C.

Very sad to hear that sand circle artist Marc Treanor is no longer with us. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 2018 whilst filming Weatherman Walking in Pembrokeshire. His artwork brought joy to many people

Happy National Weatherperson's Day today! ❄️⚠️☔⚡🌬️🌦️🔆
Whether the weather be fine

Whether the weather be cold

The Jet Stream has been displaced further south than normal this month with low pressure, cool and wet weather. But over the Bank Holiday weekend it will finally move north allowing high pressure to form bringing fine settled weather, sunshine and higher temperatures! 😎📈🏖️
