I’ll try and remember not to interrupt and side swipe them with tasks distracting them from what they were trying to do . Ensure that window in the JD office gets fixed . Very drafty I didn’t know ! Make 100% sure they are getting breaks and food and drink .

Feeling a bit overwhelmed this week. Moral injury of seeing elderly patients with hip fractures lying in ED for over 24 hours . Children waiting > 1 year to see me in clinic , other fracture patients waiting for a theatre slot . Broken II in theatre delaying trauma list

I’m finding as a surgeon that the inability to see and treat elective patients in a timely fashion is creating excessive admin. Retriaging ,writing letters, chasing test results micromanaging clinic numbers and operating lists -concerned something will be missed .

@neilorpen @trentconsultant Too much reliance on pathways and protocols that don’t require thinking about the correct diagnosis - the carpal tunnel pathway , the stroke pathway . We need to be careful about employing specialists in pathway delivery when there are other differentials to consider .
