As an LGBT person, it's amusing watching the same people who fought aggressively so homophobic bakers could deny us a cake demand that private companies allow them to incite violence on their platforms.
It was always about maintaining power and not some consistent set of values.
Is anyone else sickened by
@JoeBiden
's new belief that no one should die unnecessarily or go bankrupt from coronavirus, but it's perfectly acceptable if they do from cancer, diabetes, or another ailment?
He's either very cruel or lying about coronavirus since he wants votes.
@BryannaNasck
@EuphoriTori
The dumbest part is it wasn’t even an ad. It was a 6 pack sent directly to one influencer who talked about it for 15 minutes on her channel to her followers.
If conservatives hadn’t thrown a tantrum, only her existing fans would have even known about it.
Robby Mook was:
✅Hillary's 2016 campaign manager
✅Ran the company with the Iowa primary app
✅Ran the Democratic House Super PAC
But somehow these failures are blamed on progressives.
Maybe we should realize Mook's conservative philosophies simply don't work.
@jduffyrice
Republicans: We need slaves for the economy
Democrats: No, only slavery for those who want them
Progressives: No slavery, it's inhumane
Republicans & Dems: That's socialism!
@JordanChariton
@JoeBiden
All the liberals clutching their pearls over Joe Rogan endorsing Bernie and Bernie's platform are suddenly very, very silent.
@Alyssa_Milano
No, we are fighting for the most vulnerable people.
You are toxic and insulting half the party while backing a candidate who is condemning 45-60k people a year to death while taking millions from insurance CEOs & Wall Street.
That strategy has failed us for 40 years. Hard pass.
@pavanvan
Mask is off. You think poor people are poor because they are inferior or didn't work as hard.
And giving people medical care or a living wage is "revenge."
This should pretty much be the end of this account pretending to be a Democrat.
@MattBinder
That is wild. Imagine withdrawing support from the Poor People's Campaign because Reverend Barber politely asked the VP to overrule a parliamentarian.
@StephenKing
What’s wrong with being a cocktail waitress?
Seems like a perfectly honorable, full time job that people use to support themselves and their families.
Kaepernick tried kneeling in silent protest and was told that was "too divisive" even by Democrats.
Now saying "defund" is too divisive
Really, some people are uncomfortable addressing inequality and we need leaders who stand up for justice and help change public opinion.
The thing that critics of activists don’t get is that they tried playing the “polite language” policy game and all it did was make them easier to ignore.
It wasn’t until they made folks uncomfortable that there was traction to do ANYTHING even if it wasn’t their full demands.
@JuddLegum
@Hallmark
@HawleyMO
@RogerMarshallMD
That's great, but the real question is why was Hallmark donating to Hawley and Marshall in the first place?
I'm glad they don't support a coup. But why were they supporting white supremacy and xenophobia in the first place?
@prageru
Weird, wonder why you picked the cutoff of 1935?
Certainly it must be a similar trend after 1935 as well and this isn't just a sad ploy to manipulate people.
@MononcEcouerant
This is also our approach to climate issues.
Should we pass real reform or tell companies to stop using tons of water or carbon tax them? Nah
But individuals can’t water their lawn or are blamed for using a plastic straw or driving. And I support those limits.
@Skrappy73
@ninaturner
PragerU was also not shut down and there was no risk to their employees. They aren't one of the service industry stores shut down for a quarantine.
Also, it's called a loan. Pay it back. Otherwise, you are making the case for forgiving student loans as well.
@MoveOn
@BernieSanders
It's crazy to me as an LGBT person that you want to hand millions of swing voters back to Trump who are currently supporting a campaign with the most progressive equal rights legislation in US history.
This is really bad politics that will hurt our community if Trump wins.
A failure of journalism that this article positions Fetterman like an empowered feminist who is divorcing her husband who tried to forbid her from working.
And not a politician who ran on a platform of issues and values and may have just cynically lied to voters.
@jmcgrath723
I'm not advocating sitting out any election, but it's telling when accounts like these always attack voters instead of pushing the President or party in power to actually take action, help people, and fulfill their campaign promises.
Any failure here is on Biden & the party.
@joegarofoli
@sfchronicle
@brianefallon
@RoKhanna
@SpeakerPelosi
I don’t know. Is sexism asking an 89 year old suffering from memory problems and preventing us from confirming judges?
Or is glorifying one person and allowing Republican judges rule against the right to choose; hurting millions of women the real sexism?
@DarthApathetic
@izzietaveras
Right wing authoritarians. Plenty of great populists. Like that’s part of Sherrod Brown’s appeal in Ohio and I don’t think he’s suspending civil liberties anytime soon.
@shaun_vids
And you must not ask anything of that person. He is in fact wise to ignore the overwhelming will of his voters. And any protesting or anger is a sign you are a whiny and privileged.
@PercivalSweetw2
@james_roe
@BriannaWu
Hey, he’s not the one who saw one Wall Street Journal article saying the president was sad that the bombs he sent to Israel even after they had murdered 20,000 people are still being used to murder, innocent people and fell for it.
@HillaryClinton
@ShontelMBrown
Thank you for reminding me to donate to Nina Turner.
I can't believe you really emerged to try to attack progressives again. Really good reminder of how you managed to lose to a reality TV host.
@DrNavhya
@swati_gs
As an LGBT person, I’m well aware I’m not welcome in Gaza. Yet I still support Palestinians having basic human rights and not being murdered. And I support the Israelis and Jewish people worldwide having basic human rights and not being murdered.
It’s pretty simple.
@ChrisMurphyCT
Then maybe you should do something to motivate more young people to vote.
But you haven’t cacelled student debt, addressed the climate crisis, passed even a public option, raised the minimum wage, and the first thing cut from BBB was 2 free years of community college.
It’s funny that centrists got their ideal candidate and setup and now that the country hates it and their theories are failing they are grasping as straws and punching left out of desperation.
It’s sad to watch.
@john_skogerboe
@MatthewJohn666
He’s not, but along with India Walton this is the second example of party leaders refusing to support the Democratic nominee, while chiding progressives to vbnmw even if they don’t match our ideology.
It’s hypocritical & setting a bad example.
@BreeNewsome
"Sorry, that didn't do great in our focus group. We're going to have to continue hiring violent racists who may want to kill you.
However, we do hear you. We do understand you. And we're willing to take a photo in your cultural attire in place of action."
I am proud to announce that despite spending $0 on my Presidential campaign
I am currently tied with
@JohnDelaney
in the polls at 0%
He thought he could just outspend me by $20M
So I want to thank all the voters who made this possible by supporting neither of us. You did this!
@ZaidJilani
This is such an odd take. It was never a 1 on 1 race between Pete & Biden.
There were multiple much better and much more qualified candidates, who hadn't lost their only statewide race by 25%.
The left turned on Pete because he changed his positions opportunistically.
@GavinNewsom
- Alex Padilla is a non-starter and would be a declaration of war on progressives
Padilla killed a Homeowners Bill of Rights in committee after receiving sizable donations & going to dinner with the opposition
There is nothing "inoffensive" about him
I hoped to shed more light on what frontrunner California Secretary of State Alex Padilla's policy agenda and interests are.
I struggled to come up with details about that, which is its own statement about the politics here. "Inoffensive liberal" seems like the best description.
@queeralamode
Yes, it’s called marketing and getting a message out to a less political audience. Meanwhile, AOC’s also proposing complementary legislation in the House to further fund the IRS and raise taxes on the rich.
Like welcome to politics 101.
I try to be polite on this app, but this is bullshit. What's a working class mom supposed to do?
What was her legitimate option on a minimum (or close to it) wage? This is criminalizing poverty.
24 year old Ohio woman arrested for leaving her 10yr old & 2yr old daughters in the motel while she works in pizza shop. Says she usually has someone check in on her children every hour while she is at work.
Anyone who has followed me knows my profile has said
#BernieorWarren2020
since I created it.
While Bernie has been my first choice, my goal has always been a progressive winning behind a united front.
Now it's clear we all need to unite behind Bernie.
#WarrenendorseBernie
This is the final page left in the establishment playbook.
Try to dismiss all legitimate criticism and concerns as an attack that makes the voter sexist, racist, or homophobic.
It's the last grasp of people who cannot defend their positions based on substance.
The attacks on
@neeratanden
have nothing to do with her ideology. It’s time to call them out for what they really are: fear of a smart, ambitious, qualified woman of color (who also brings receipts).
@baseballgaloot
As a gay man in California, I’ll always remember Obama & Hillary both running against gay marriage and then the Yes on Prop 8 campaign using this mailer (without Obama’s permission of endorsement).
@thereisacode
@ndsnas
They relocate or we convert commercial buildings to mixed use (residential and retail). Why make millions of people waste 10+ hours a week commuting & thousands of dollars a year on gas to prop up a few service industry businesses?
@ChipHarbour
@dsam4a
@RealEric4Real
This is more analysis than anyone shouting we can't advocate for M4A in a swing district has shown.
Why don't you show something suggesting this is wrong and then we can all go deeper.
Biden Bros latest defense of ghouls like Pete and Vilsack is that they are "more successful" than us.
So now Conservative Democrats are embracing right wing values that wealth / power make someone an inherently better person worthy of higher office.
@Nolitha_xo
@monsieurmoscato
"The divorce rate has sure spiked since women could take care of themselves and weren't tethered to loveless or abusive relationships like in the 'good ole days'"
“ I, a TV personality worth $5M, will retire early. But it’s fine for teachers, nurses, and manual laborers to work longer and have fewer quality years.”
I'm sure I'm opening a giant can of worms here, but uh it seems fine to raise the retirement age very slightly in nations where populations are healthier and living longer?
Al Gore focused on climate change.
John Kerry became Secretary of State.
Michael Dukakis became a poli sci professor & helped elect Warren.
Hillary Clinton is throwing a 4 year temper tantrum & risking splitting the party.
What is wrong with this person?
Former Dem. presidential nominee Hillary Clinton furthered her comments discrediting Sen. Bernie Sanders as a viable presidential candidate, insinuating that his potential failure to "deliver the moon" would detract from efforts to rebuild public trust
@5AMbirdnoises
@TheEpicDept
Also how he puts Harris in front even though she is VP, which I think is his "subtle" way of trying to use a dog whistle for the targets of the ad.
Since people are doing this about AOC:
Ticket to Met fundraiser: $0
Cost of loaned dress: $0
Other imagined costs: $0
Ride to Met: $40
Getting political message that matches your legislation out to millions of non-political viewers: Priceless
@joshtpm
She backed cuts to social security, supported war with Iran in the 2016 DNC platform, is on the board of the Wall Street-funded Center for American Progress. And as a leader of CAP killed multiple stories, such as one hitting Bloomberg after he made a financial contribution.
@mcuban
@AOC
@tedcruz
This is a really bad, false equivalence.
AOC is trying to pass a stimulus and has with her colleagues in the House, while Republicans in the Senate continue to obstruct.
This is not a "both sides" issue.
You need to pick a message. You can’t say Republicans are an existential threat to democracy who also get half the credit for every bill that passed because they are reasonable.
@hjessy_
@AndreasNahas
And AZ voted for a minimum wage increase with more votes and a higher % than they voted for Sinema.
She’s arguably to the right of her voters. And could quickly become vulnerable in a Democratic primary.
@rwlesq

We forgave ~$900B in PPP loans for businesses who had committed to pay back those well below market rate loans, but somehow helping 46M Americans as promised on the campaign trail is treated as shocking.

@holozoic_
I mean, I will not disparage his looks and we should not classified people that way.
However, she seemed like a wonderful and incredibly supportive partner during his entire Senate campaign and mental health issues.
He fumbled a top notch human being to support genocide.
@senrobportman
If Summers and Gramm agree, we should pay attention and to exactly the opposite of what they recommend.
Few individuals have been so wrong, so many times, in ways that have hurt so many people.
@microbear1
@drmistercody
No, he said no matter who wins there will be a November 7, 8, 9, etc. And effecting change means continuing to work those days and not just voting and then checking out.
@ibrahimpols
Ah yes, Hillary's famous "no we can't" or "no hope, no change" campaign where she mocked anyone who wanted to really improve the country
It's a real mystery why so many people stayed home or voted third party and she lost to Trump
@JayElHarris
@PatrickLeijon
Seems more like she is describing privilege, which can take many forms and is a spectrum. Living with your parents when you lose your job is a privilege some people don't have, but much less than inheriting $100M.
But no, getting some food isn't generational wealth.
@metzgov
“It’s not productive to analyze what Terry did wrong, but it is productive to attack progressives.”
Kaine once again showing why Hillary lost when she made the disastrous choice to make him VP.
@krubner

Also more people marrying in their 30s when they are mostly developed and tend to make smarter choices about partners instead of marrying someone they were mostly physically attracted to at 20 who they got pregnant while believing in fairy tale love.
@DanPriceSeattle
@JamesBergseid
And don't forget that during those "once in a lifetime" recessions - there were no consequences for anyone who helped cause the recession via illegal actions.
And the wealthy were bailed out, while the working class was left to suffer.
@NastyWoman1012
@BernieSanders
It's pretty straightforward. I'm LGBT and disagree with a number of Rogan's comments.
I refuse to alter my / our platform to include any of his views I disagree with, but I welcome him & his viewers supporting our platform - the one that literally includes equal rights for all.
@neeratanden
@krystalball
Neera, you are on the Board for the Center for American Progress, a Wall Street funded think tank that's done nothing but relentlessly attack Democrats.
You have zero right to talk.
@Skrappy73
@OatsCoin
@davekavalsucks
@ninaturner
Ok, gotcha. Well given people with student loans pay taxes too, then we can just agree Nina is right and that forgiving student loans is just giving taxpayers their money back.
Glad we settled this issue.
This is wild. Making up fake people and interactions just to punch left.
If Biden loses due to demoralized voters, just remember these toxic centrist accounts that defended genocide and war crimes when voters were begging for human decency
President Biden on Iran: "I do hold them responsible in a sense that they're supplying the weapons to the people who did it...I don't think we need a wider war in the Middle East. That's not what I'm looking for."
@JStein_WaPo
Funny. In the primary he said we had to vote for him because he could get centrists like Manchin & Republicans to back his agenda of a $15 min wage, public option, etc.
Next time we need to elect someone who is bolder with progressive EOs, appointments, & the bully pulpit.
@ryangrim
And just like 2016, they were able to influence the primary and keep progressives out of power.
They also lost in 1988. They'd be wise to remember fracturing our coalition to cater to lobbyists & wealthy donors ends badly.
"I do not support defunding police. The better answer is to give police departments the resources they need to implement meaningful reforms...I’m proposing an additional $300 million to reinvigorate community policing" --
@JoeBiden
, today 🚨🚔👮
@theJohnRossi
@mehdirhasan
Then it’s the fault of the centrist candidate for not appealing to them and catering to different voting blocs instead. He could have run a more progressive campaign to win those voters.
@USATODAY
That's one way of admitting you don't have any values and simply want to appear wise.
What "aggressively centrist" policy has McConaughey consistently advocated for? What are his core centrist values?
Sitting halfway between both parties isn't wisdom, it's mental laziness.
As an LGBT person, I have friends who were disowned or are not supported by their families
Pete should know better and not tie someone's ability to access education to their parents' whims
This leaves both LGBT people & other abused and marginalized teens incredibly vulnerable
Under Buttigieg's plan, a family of 6 living on $151k annually would have to pay tuition costs while a family of 3 living on $99k wouldn't. It's a great example of why means testing is arbitrary and unworkable.
By 2020, 65% of jobs will require a college degree.
@mooncult
Ok, I am detest Pete as much as anyone, but he says he "would have" taken it when he was younger. He then says thank goodness he didn't.
I think a lot of gay people can relate to not wanting to be gay when they were scared & closeted.
This was his least problematic answer.
@josecanyousee
Right, that's a good thing.
Would you fail to use emergency care to save a felon, including the Bomber?
Would you deny him a lawyer? Trial?
Felons deserve punishments, but also rights.
Especially given targeting minorities on lighter charges is a form of voter suppression.
@DirtRoadDefendr
@erichhartmann
Well by your logic they paid for Kushner’s and Brady’s PPP loans. I assume you think we should cancel PPP loan forgiveness.
@Whatapityonyou
That's completely unfair. Democrats in power would 100% form an exploratory committee to consider the potential options and then not act on the findings.
@whstancil
I don’t think that’s what they are saying. I think they are pointing out that supporting evil at all is bad.
It’s heavy handed and doesn’t really work to me. But this also seems like a willful misinterpretation.
Biden isn’t “imperfect” he’s actively enabling genocide and bypassing Congress to do it. He’s defying voters and demoralizing his base.
Failure to grapple with this and push Biden and to just insult voters instead is how we get another 2000 or 2016 election.
Biden is imperfect, but he’s running against an actual wannabe dictator. The two sides are *nothing* alike unless your only measure of success is getting *everything* you want with instant gratification. We can’t build new train stations overnight. Democracy takes constant work.
