Over 3,300 players at our North American Championships across 4 games makes this event not just one of the biggest Pokémon tournaments but one of the biggest tournaments in all of gaming. Thank you everyone for bringing it to life!
#PlayPokemon
Come a long way since my first Pokémon tournament in 1999! Thank you all for watching the Pokémon Presents this morning and hope you can catch the

•Millions of viewers
•Likely the industries largest open in-person competitions supporting 3 products (TCG, RPG, Fighting Game)
This is a great space in Salt Lake City for
@pokemon
Regional Championships! Expecting nearly 1,000 players for our first US event since 2020.

Today we announced

Visited Japan’s Champions League last year. The TCG tournament format is Swiss Bo1, 30 min round timer, no xtra turns, unfinished games = loss for both players. No extra turns (post time) means the next round starts about 10 minutes after time is called for previous. Thoughts?
The
@pokemon
European International Championships is live! Over 4,000 players across all games makes this our largest tournament ever.

Today we start the journey back to Worlds with the release of the
@pokemon
premier event Covid-19 precautions & opening of reg for the first events in 2 years. Lots of work from a ton of people behind the scenes globally to put this together.
Lost in the
@Hot_Bid
& Summit drama is just how hard it is to go full time in Smash. The Smash community suffers from a brain drain because it's entirely grassroots. Imagine if all these people could be full time operators & content producers of a developer backed Smash League.
DC was a friend and was instrumental to the last 6 years of our Pokémon broadcasts. He would like to say content falls in two buckets: "When will this end?" or "I hope this won't end!" He always pushed for the highest quality and will be greatly missed.
New trophies - because we operate multiple age divs and reward each member of the team based game with a trophy we handed out 15 champion trophies (5 for UNITE, 3 for TCG, 3 for VG, 2 for GO, 2 for PT). And 15 Finalist trophies. And 30 semi-finalist/3rd/4th trophies. 60 in all!
I’m sure the .0025% of gamers at the top are stoked that there are $10s of millions in prize money being inflated into esports
But am I crazy in thinking we lost what made everyone love it? Thousands of people in one room playing games.
Seems like that worked for
It’s good to see the community back at events! If you attended or watched EUIC how did you think the return to
@pokemon
Internationals has gone?
#PlayPokemon
Thank you to our over 150 staff, production personal, volunteers, Casters, and translators for putting on a fantastic

North American Championships features 4 different games coming together as one Pokémon community.

Some context
@AllstonMelee
: in 2006 there was were no free US streaming platforms like Twitch today. This was Wife and M3D and the audience was thought as a mix 5% Smash players and 95% Halo subscribers for paid VOD on MLG.
Consistent feedback we see in post event surveys is side events could be improved - what are the big pain points and what would make a more positive sides experience? What’s going well that should continue?
Thanks to the over 150 volunteers, staff, judges, and production personal for putting on the
@Pokemon
2018 North American Championships! With a world class staff this event would be impossible!

It's time to celebrate
#PokemonDay
- each February I take a look back at my collection. Here are some items from 1999 that stayed with me these last 24 years.
Did anyone manage to save all the Nintendo Power Pokémon magazines?
