@travis_robert I got really into trains in 2010. Obama released the high speed rail plan, the Chicago to Minneapolis route was about to get HSR, a bunch of commuter rail was in the works in Minnesota. 12 years later, I'm 24, and none of this shit is done. Moving to Europe just to ride trains.

Hot take: Removing rail from the Stone Arch was probably a big mistake, and we'll likely need to do some pretty expensive shit to make Amtrak connect to Minneapolis again.

Lmao. This shouldn’t have gotten this much traction. I’m just happy to see downtown buzzing after a great Wolves win. Every bar was packed afterwards. We should absolutely be shutting down 1st Ave on game day and consider closing it to cars permanently.

Downtown can't support businesses though. Only short term festivals and pop up shops that drive 1000s of people there. But seriously, build out the riverfront. I want a glass of wine on the deck of the Post Office

When did the Stone Arch Bridge Festival get so big? It is more like whole downtown and North Loop riverfront festival. Needing to go north and just thinking I'll stay by river and walk my a few blocks...no 😂

I used to ride this bridge at midnight and pass by numerous couples, musicians and other cyclists. We can't claim we want to activate downtown and then pull this type of antiquated garbage.

According to the upcoming TCMC meeting, the Red Rock Corridor, which wsd initially studied for Commuter rail between St. Paul and Hastings and then BRT/A bus, will now be studied for Light Rail.

This is crazy. 6 story proposed project with ZERO retail activation on Lake St in the middle of Uptown, between Arts and Rec and a 2 story commercial building with multiple tenant. They're asking for TIF We can do affordable housing with retail folks. It's done in many places.

I like how almost all these articles are framed as a guy from public works going out an shoveling every sidewalk. Or that the sidewalk is the homeowners property. I've seen people on riding snowblowers this year that just cruise down a sidewalk in minutes. We're a grid city.

These buildings will always make me sad. Especially after going from Grave, Bricksworth, Galley, Runyons, and Cuzzys ALL PACKED. These cute lil guys could have some fantastic parkets, string lights and patio seating. 1st Ave in general is just EMPTY.

One of the reasons why I support dense infill development in our cities is to preserve our woodlands. If the only place housing can be built is the exurbs, it's going to get harder and harder for residents of Philadelphia (and other cities) to take day hikes out in nature.

@JoshLipnik The suburbs of your age are not the suburbs anymore. Those are the nice 1st ring additions to the city now. I'm 25, grew up in the suburbs, i biked around my neighborhood quite a bit, but all of my friends weren't accessible due to lack of transit and a car centric environment.
