@medicalmodelbri @parthaskar Maybe not. But you cannot deny their value to multidisciplinary practice. The PAs are educated. Have a first degree in a science plus a two year intensive course in medicine. Show some respect!

PAs are trained under a medical model and have a place in the scarce resource existing in clinical practice, wherever that may be. Yes, their scope of practice still needs resolving - as did HCAs, cardiac technicians, nurse specialists etc carrying out specialist procedures.

I reflect on how much value HCAs added to nursing who were trained under a nursing model so many years ago. Much needed when nurses were overwhelmed.

I trained as a nurse, focused on neuroscience and eventually operational and board roles. Having spent over 40 years in the NHS I have worked alongside so many new practitioners previously unthought of and now considered essential.
